Many of us suffer from this 4v5 issue, right? It happens every day, it happens to everyone of us and sometimes 2-3 and more times in a row.
And
We are always in the team with 4, right?
Whenever there is 4v5 I’m in the over numbered team.
You too.
Then. The logical question.
Who are these blessed people who are in the team of 5?

I have a friend, who has a cousin that is ex-bf of the sister of one of the devs.
So he told me there are people who pay Anet crazy money to be on top position in the leaderboard.

You wonder why there are people with 7-8 games in top 100? Here is your answer.

Why they do this? A good question. As you can see I have verified information from trusted sources. But I really have no idea about their motives to want so desperate to be on top. Ill minds? The first step to world Domination? Help me to understand!

There’s not much Arenanet can do for the 4v5 issue! They can’t reach through their monitors and force leavers to stay! Sometimes they can’t stay! Whether it’s parents kicking their kids off the computer, a power outage, an earthquake, a volcanic eruption, dog chewing on the internet cables, raging nerds, lupus, etc.! What they should do is just implement a timer! If that person doesn’t come back within a set amount of time, everyone is just free to leave and play a new game!

With that said, Vee Wee, #1 Engi NA and world first rank 80, only gets a 4v5 maybe once every hundred games! It’s fairly rare!

I was on a team of 5 against 4, three times tonight
And it had nothing to do with pay offs
It was simply disconnections or opponents getting mad and leaving

I believe there are many things Arenanet could do to deal with these 4v5s. The dishonor was the first step in the right direction, but I’ve seen many good solutions here on these forums.

Our guild usually plays 10 to 20 matches a night
In that timeframe we usually see 2 to 3 disconnects or leaves on opposing teams

that said, it happens quite often, indeed and it’s very annoying.
Altho sometimes you really can’t help it, either due disconnect or any other reason in real life. I had to pull off once with my granny falling down the stairs and noticing being called kittened once back in the game.

I do agree they should find a solution tho, like replacing the inactive player for instance.

I do not get the leaderboard system either,
a nice explaining thread by the devs would be helpfull

Back to the topic. Highly, HIGHLY doubt its because of payoffs, I’ve gotten both 5v4 with me on the 4, or 5v4 with me on the 5, and I assure you I’m paying zilch to anet for it, it’s just a matter of does anybody have connection issues or not. Just because a friend who knows somebody who knows somebody says something, doesn’t make it the most logical and only explanation.
