and the stupidest grown-ups who are the most grown-up.”

It’s infuriating to lose due to someone else leaving (or simply not showing up from the beginning).
For leaderboard purposes, please consider not having these games count against the players whose team is outnumbered. If you’re afraid of griefers, you could have it count for the players who win (and count as a loss for the one who left), but the others shouldn’t be penalized for these matches.
If there are reasons why players should be ranked lower due to teammates leaving, then by all means, share these reasons. If you expect them to say, “Dude, we’re losing! Take one for the team and bail so we don’t take a hit to our rank,” then I’m sure there are ways to avoid that. Maybe factor in the scores or something, I don’t know.
It would help a bit but in the end wouldnt really matter. Its very easy to afk and the system not detect it. Some guy was (AwayFromKeyboard) no kitten 25+ times before the new 3 dishonor stacks hit him.

Yeah, okay. I agree that something needs to be done there, too. Definitely.
Loser gets 10 stinkin’ points and decides to repeatedly “/sit” off to the side of a capture point. It would have been a close game, too…
The real question here should be more along the lines of ‘why is there a leaderboard for solo arena to start with’.
It’s like adding a ladder to Random Arenas on GW1, and we all know how much of a laughing stock that would be…
To add rating to something that is by definition arbitrary just doesn’t make a whole lot of sense in general (I don’t care one bit that mobas use that kind of approach), yet players embrace it because the alternatives (apprently) don’t cut it, and that in itself is rather depressing. The paradox here is that players are repeatedly asking the format be made more along the lines of team arenas (e.g. balanced distribution of proffessions, matchmaking), yet at the same time do not want to play the more organized version of the format, in which they can directly influence, or at least somewhat limit the said issues. Not that one can really blame them for making that call, dat is…

Leaderboard rank is absolutely meaningless – just ignore it. It doesn’t say anything about how good or bad you are – it just tells you how lucky you are with team compositions.

It started out as only one queue and leaderboard for sPvP, but because people want to do more than hotjoins even when they can’t be (or don’t feel like) playing with a regular team, they added the solo queue. They don’t want some randoms messing up their hard-earned Team Arena leaderboard position, so the tournaments (with their respective boards) were separated into Team and Solo.
At this point, removing the solo queue leaderboard would be tantamount to saying they’re “hotjoins with more rules, like (seemingly) randomly chosen teams and no autobalance.” And that’s totally not the sort of image they want for solo arena tournaments.
