1: Add an audible alert to when the match start window comes up. We have audible alerts now for achievement completions but not for this? Complete insanity.
2: Move or add Ready Check to BEFORE match/map entry. Again, hard to believe this has not been done.
3: Do not start matches that are not even strength at timer countdown, period. Either re-open the slot, extend the countdown by a small set amount or kick everyone back to lobby…there is absolutely no reason to start a match that is uneven strength.
4: Add reporting for AFKs and leavers.
5: Make leaving a match before match end, or not being present at match end, however you want to code it, cost a player a rank point or points or match wins. They do it enough times, they’ll be down to rank one and/or matched up in scenarios that – since it seems clear someone has to pay the price for their actions – at least have minimal impact on game quality.
None of these things are hard. Some of them are obvious, even clearly vital. I have yet to see a single statement by Anet as to why they have not done any of these yet…but here’s hoping they will surprise me.
6. Make leaving a match add 1 to a stack. At 3 stacks you are qued with other people that leave matches and no longer qued with people trying to play the game. The stacks wear off over time.
7. GW1 dishonourable system:
If you accumulate 10 or more dishonour points, your account changes status to Dishonourable, with the following effects:
-All characters on your account are hexed; the hex displays as a buff icon on the screen.
-None of the account’s characters may enter PvP.
-The hex remains in effect for 1 minute per point (minimum of 10 minutes). The dishonourable points take longer to expire (see above).
-The account will be hexed again if additional points are acquired after the initial hex expires but before all the accumulated points have been cleared.
Premature departure: If you leave a PvP match before a winner is announced you gain 5 points
Leeching : Each time you are reported for leeching you gain 2 points
Non-consensus reporting: For each report you make that is not backed up by at least one third of your team you gain 2 points
Leeching = AFK
5 Chances every 24 hours isn’t enough. Less chances but shorter (stacking) punishment.
how bout 1 way?..test first before releasing. In a 5 vs 5 game..having 4 vs 5 happen often shows poor testing.
8. Buff the remaining player in the smaller team
All good points. The question remains…why hasn’t Anet done these obvious things? I honestly don’t understand their thinking here.

Ok, so I have just come off an nice losing streak due to this problem. So I apologize for the ranty nature of this post. I fought 8 games, were top rank in my team 6 times and won only 1 game due to always being outmanned. I then decided to see how easy it is “to win”, so I waited in lobby, joined the winning team when it was 350-200, did nothing and won…Zero points…victory!
The general formula for match ups goes like this: Everyone waits in Q, the longer you wait, the better your chance to be in the “correct” team. After about a minute from the start, one of the players in the other team quits. Suddenly you are behind and also a man short. This goes on for a few minutes until someone new to pvp joins the bad team. Now you are probably at 4v4(if you stay in the same server numbers are typically lower due to quiting) and about 100 points behind with a new player in your ranks. And now comes the biggest problem of all…which team is going to be joined next…only the stronger team gets new players…cause who wants to lose…
I am truly getting fed up with this. Now, my suggestions:
11. Once the match have started, ppl can only join the team that is behind if not even.
12. Even better: You can’t choose a team…you always get placed.
13. Quitting a match disables PvP for a set amount of time.
14) Minimum rank 20 to enter ranked matches. I had two newbies rank 6 and 7 in my team. The match was 3 vs 5, very sad.

Matched would also be more even, which in turn will lead to less quitting and more enjoyable fights. Some of the PVE’ers that come purely for the achievement points might then actually stay due to it being fun for a change.

Nope, I disagree. At some point rank doesn’t matter anymore. Ranked matches need only a lower limit but not “divisions”.

Add a vote for surrender when ur team is losing by 150 points or more, if more than half of the remaining team vote yes (not voting counts as nothing), you forfeit the match and move on with ur live.
Punishing more the afk and leavers may reduce the amount of it, a bit, but i think that the issue is that nobody cares about the leaderboards, and even if u ban me for 2 days, i can still play pve or wvw or hotjoin, so who cares.

Doesn’t the game force you to re enter the pvp match? It used to, that’s how people could change characters mid fight. Or can you simply just press PvP then leave match (same as hotjoin)?
