5 dishonor is too much
Does this even work? I got dced earlier and I don’t have any debuff. Does it only show up when you have 5 or what?
So let me get this straight. Its not enough soloque suffers from a long list of issues already, we gotta give in to afkers and leavers now?
No thanks.
Now is the moment to punish more those types of players so there is one less issue to deal with already.

I think OP is in agreement with you. Setting it to 3 instead of 5 would get you banned faster.
I agree, I keep getting guys who don’t move, they just wait the end of the match, they even write -.-

Oh kitten. My bad. Sorry OP.
i think this would still not be enough.
as i understand this system works like this:
if i dc/leave/w.e 4 times in a row i have 4 dishonor stacks lasting 72h.
after 71h i leave the 5th time. so now i have 5 stacks and cant join rated matches for as long as the 5 stacks last. which means 1h.
after 1h i am on 1 stack again – so i can feel free to leave 4 matches till my next ban.
same with 3 stacks.
i cant really see why this is real punishment.
but maybe im getting it wrong
no gutz no glory

Dishonored is definitely working. You can think of it like this: You can leave a maximum of 5 times in 3 days.
@Kito: What you described is valid, but we’ve kept you from leaving for 71 hours.
We will continue to watch the rate at which people acquire dishonor and make adjustments as needed.

Are you in charge of leaderboard decay? Because it needs to be speeded up. People should start dropping after maybe 3/4 days of not playing.

K we are getting the green flag on leaving 4 games we dont like! jk
@Evan Lesh, Give us more feedback please as to how Dishonored holds up over the next week pls thanks

3/4 days would put a lot of stress to players. I agree it’s a bit too slow, but I would probably make it last for seven days. Playing at least once a week seems a nice balance to me.
vote for 3 stacks, disconnects can happen once or twice, when you get third, fix your internet before you make other people lose their games and kitten their ratings.
I´d also like an option where i can decline a matchup due to unfair/unbalanced teams/comps, cause it sucks playing when you already know you cant win cause you dont have any class that can fight on a small node during the teamfight or go for rezzes etc, on some maps you just cant avoid teamfighting. Same with 5xhighrank palyers vs a team with a low rank palyers wich is almost 4v5
I’d say that being free to leave four times each three days is a bit too nice for leavers. In GW1, people who left a second time couldn’t join anymore, which was fair, even though the debuff lasted for way less time.

Im already getting 5-10 minute queues at 11:00 PM eastern time in the united states quite often which is not exactly off peak. I can’t support anything that could lead to even longer queues like the ability to decline a match just because you don’t like what you randomly have.
Dishonor doesn’t seem to do anything really – I lost 2 out of 3 matches today because people left either before it even started or early on. If this keeps up, I will develop a habit of disconnecting myself very soon…
I also dishonor should start working under less stacks. Something like this:
2 stacks: banned for 15 minutes
3 stacks: banned for 2 hours
4 stacks: banned for 1 day
5 stacks: banned for 3 days
6 stacks: banned for a week
I also think that there should be a visible dishonor status under you character. Both for you to know how many stacks you have so far, and for your team to let you die without support for beeing such an *
@bezayne gets it
If there was a display of such status, and teams started to not help or target dishonored players more often, this would also make players think twice before leaving a match, to avoid getting bullied

3 stacks: banned for 2 hours
4 stacks: banned for 1 day

I fully support the dishonor system but I have a question. My Internet isn’t 100% reliable and in the past two days of Solo Q I have dcd in 2 matches but open my game back up as fast as it can to hop back in the match. Does every dc count as a dishonor?

You will not gain dishonor if you reconnect. We specifically chose our numbers to allow for some unintentional disconnects.

5 really is too much. It actually effects hardcore players much more than casuals. As a casual I can easily leave 3-4 games and then simply not play for a few days (Probably do some PVE or simply not log on).
Now if I were to get a hour long ban after my second dishonored (To make sure we account for at least one disconnect) that would put a damper on my severely limited play time and I wouldn’t want to do that at all. As it is I don’t ever forsee dishonored effecting me. People that play 20-30 games in a few days may see bans simply from disconnect though.

Great! Thank you for the clarification.
The punishment for leaving matches should be much harsher. In one year of GW2, I have left < 5 matches. I fail to see why it’s okay to leave 5 times in 3 days. Especially since people who genuinely dc and then reconnect, do not accrue dishonor.
Why are leavers being catered to? Every time they leave, they screw four people over.
If you have an unstable system, you should not be able to play rated sPvP until you have it stabilized…your faulty computer system harms 4 other innocent people when you disconnect.
Silentshoes (Thief), Wind of the Woods (condi ranger)
it should not ban you from the Q cause ppl dont care for this and just sit it out while doing pve or wvw
3x dishonour buff should flag your account and you will be Qued now only with other ppl having this debuff and you need to play 10 games without leaving to lose 1 stack (and see how it feels to play with leavers)
so normal player are safe from this ppl

Nah I agree with him, I see the people abusing the leaderboards and they online nearly 24/7, they just chill in hearts of mist all day long, I don’t understand how people chill in hearts of mist all day long, go do something in the real world and hangout with your real friends instead.
Obviously a lot of people are competitive right now but you have plenty of people preventing that by chilling on the leaderboards. In a very high demand of competitiveness you need to raise the bar on the leaderboard decay and make it more volatile like 3/5 days as that guy said. Because if you don’t your going to lose a lot of people due to not meeting there demands of letting them be competitive. And if you ask me winning 2 games and going up 2% and losing 2 games and going down 7%, that’s not very good, that’s what happened to me on the team leaderboard. You’ll burn out competitive people that way, its difficult to explain why though but its true.
For soloQ to work and grow you MUST have good reason to believe that if you play better than average, your team will have a better than average chance to win.
If you feel the match is stacked against you from the get-go, SoloQ is no longer enjoyable. In fact, it’s worse than 5×5 hotjoin.

The flaw with dishonor is that there is a large enough sample size (players) you may always encounter players who are not aware of the dishonor system, and therefore have no knowledge of the punishment of leaving a game. Especially considering people leave and join hot-join at will with no punishment, so they are used to it.
All it takes is one player to leave a game and you’re immediately at an enormous disadvantage. GW2 is tuned enough that 5 v 4 is a sure loss.
Don’t let matches begin until each side has 5 players zoned in and ready. There is no other solution. (A lesser solution, but still not good enough, is to make it very obvious that not joining a solo queue will give you dishonor — plaster a big red warning on the screen)
Dishonor needs to also apply to players who do not contribute to a match. You can’t automate this. You need a majority vote system where players can decide on those in their team who are not contributing and give them dishonor. If 4 players see that one of their teammates is just running in circles in the starting area, not doing anything, then they should be able to vote dishonorable on that player and punish them. Because solo queue is a bunch of random players, this will not be prone to a group of friends griefing a player.

I dont know if this doesnt already exists, but there should be a way to report a player as “idle” on solo Q, just like you can report bots, gold selling and so on.
At least make the loss 4v5 invalid or something. It is great that we have the dishonor system to punish players who leaves/doesnt show up, no doubt there.
On the other hand the 4 remaining players doesnt really deserve their loss playing 4v5 on their stats.
No rating loss for a 4v5 is a novel idea but would however be too easy of a system to abuse.

How are you going to abuse it if its random who you are up against?
5 is great, I come from Dota 2 where they run system which is close to what we are seeing now. It works really good put’s them kitten’s into low-pro so people who want to play can play.

What would prevent someone from leaving as soon as the match was not going their way?
Also in this system, would the other teams (the 5) win be invalidated or would it count?

U can always choose a players in ur team that u dont like and kittenstorm him(and cordinate with the other 3 random members) , until hes logout , so u wont take the loss of rating
In starcraft it goes off of wins/losses/disconnects. Theres really no reason for someone to ragequit because it will count as a loss and not a disconnect.
Please add leeching to report options.
So we can report them . there s no way for them to get the dishonor if they actually move an inch every second but they dont help the team.
it would be nice if the /report_player name is added also. (gw1 style)

What if the leaver incurred the entire rating loss of all 5 members of the team? The 4 that stayed and played would not lose any rating if they lose. If somehow the 4man team wins, they would split the leaver’s rating gain among themselves.
What if www queue pop? That is good reason leave.

I agree that 5 stacks are too lenient.
I also would like to request that the ban be extented to PvE and WvW as well. Why should someone, who has caused others to have a bad ingame experience, be allowed to enjoy the game?
If the offender is a pvp-only player, he can’t play if banned.
If they are pve/pvp/wvwvw players, they can play if banned.
Therefore, pve/pvp/wvwvw players have an advantage over pvp-only players since a pvp-only ban doesn’t effect them as harshly.
This is also very important: There should be a tooltip explaining dishonor and banning!
I second this suggestion. Two or three dishonor stacks at max. The leader boards should also account for leavers and not punish the players who stay substantially.
It would be a great idea to not only flag characters that have “dishonor” in-game…but also track how many times they’ve accumulated dishonor and included it on the leaderboard.
If people are leaving because they are worried about the game negatively affecting their leaderboard status, then the only way to ‘dis-incentivize’ them is to mark their account on the leaderboard with how many times they leave.
This would clearly highlight those that are intentionally gaming the system versus those that occasionally get dc’d.
FYI..Those with really bad internet connections should NOT be queing for rated gameplay experiences that significantly impact others.
Even in PvE, you would get kicked from a guild if you constantly dc’d during a critical boss phase. Hotjoin is the appropriate choice for those with poor internet.
I’d also like to note that so far today 50% of my games in solo queue have had leavers before the match started. There should be a threshold where these players are BANNED form the game.
It is flat out stupid that there should be ANY leniency for people who would willingly ruin their team’s chances of winning.
What if www queue pop? That is good reason leave.
Don’t queue for tournies if you don’t have the time.
Today I had 2dcs while spending ~10 hours in spvp: once my comp crashed and I couldn’t start the game for ~10 min. and once I connected but after the game finished so probably I have already 2 debuffs. I usually have 0-3 dcs per day and it is on good days. While playing for 6-10 hours I don’t consider this bad connection. So sooner or later I will be get this dishonored debuff and will not be able to play pvp for 2 days while never actually being the leaver.
By disconnecting you are being the leaver DC=Quitting for the four other people left without an ally.
By disconnecting you are being the leaver DC=Quitting for the four other people left without an ally.
I wish that if you had a leaver that would take 50% of the loses in MMR from each team-member they imposed their selfishness upon after the second time.
Active player on losing team: 50% of intended mmr loss
Missing player on losing team: 100% Personal loss + 50% loss per team member.
And for wins as well:
Active player on a 4 player team that won: 100% of personal gain + 50% of leavers gain
Missing player on the winning team: -100% of personal gain
I am more for an active punishment of leavers through ratings and a shielding of their victims instead of a penance system where their team-mates are equivalently punished. You would also have to shield this from potential exploits by granting an immunity after a certain score is reached (as in we are losing omg, sacrificial lamb DC now and save our ranking)
