5 vs AI mode for newbies?
How are they going to get the AI to understand capping and de-capping points if they can’t even get my pet to understand how to climb a ledge?
because they would need an actual AI for that and if you look at pve, there’s absolutely no form of responsive AI in this game.

there is no real ai that could imitate player behavior in this game. there is actually no real ai at all. just a few cd checks and attack loops. and even those are horribly constructed.
I don’t think it’s ridiculous. I’m not sure if it’s a good ROI but it’s not ridiculous.
NPCs in pve events already follow basic scripts for going to a location, capturing, and killing whatever is around. There’s already (albeit pretty poor), training dummies in the mists that use class abilities. Put those together, add a little spit shine, you might have something poorly passing as a pvp ai training mode.

Exactly, it can be done. We don’t expect them to have smart AI right off the bat. But with what they got right now, they can still put together something for newbies to play against. Over time, they can slowly improve the AI’s intelligence.
You could implement 5 engineer npc’s using insta crate on the points.
everything can be done. but this exact thing will cost money instead of earning some. i can hear the director board of ncsoft laughing at this idea across the whole continent.
no moneyz = no way

Improving player experience in a game can always translate to more money. If new players are having fun, they will likely to stick to the game. Spvp needs new blood.
I thought that was what Hotjoin was for.

If this idea were to go through, I would like to suggest using Trahearne as the AI guardian and Phlunt as the AI engineer. Imagine the influx of pve players coming to spvp just to get a chance to kill these two characters?
why not just 5 heroes, caith, zojja and co.

Not even close. Hotjoins are noob stomping ground, one-sided beatings. Playing against AI’s will help new players understand the fundamentals of spvp before they move up to hot joins.

I prefer to stomp on Npc’s that I dislike. Caith is a sweetheart. I will just relinquish the capture point if she came up against me. Now if it is Phlunt or Trahearne, I would take so much pleasure in stomping them over and over.

btw, Traherne is a necro not guardian

Cap and hold the the little colored circles on the ground. Not much to understand there. The fundamentals of PvP is playing against other players, hence PvP. Players are unpredictable unlike any AI Anet could make and the only way to learn how to fight them is by actually fighting them.
Being able to read the battle field (and the minimap) and figuring out which point deserves your attention is not something an AI could teach. The only way to learn how to PvP is to play some PvP. Hotjoins, although not perfect, is the place to go to learn the basics. The matches aren’t rated, your performance doesn’t really matter, and you can hop in and out at your leisure to modify your build. Since nobody really cares about winning or losing you can feel free to make all the mistakes you want.

spvp doesn’t generate money, why do you think it has so minimal support? what makes money is milking stupid rich people. so why waste a huge pile of time on coding such a training arena if you can just pay one person to put together another gemshop armorset or whatever?
I think Spvp will benefit if it has a mode where 5 new players can match up against 5 AI’s. That way they can learn the game without getting stomp by veteran players. This will improve their experience in Spvp. I’m surprise the NPE did not include this new feature.
I completely agree! My build testing process is always Bots in HotM → Hot Join → yoloq but with having a X vs AI system people can practice builds in a more controlled environment and new players can learn PvP a bit better then in bots in HotM and hot join which tend to be full of trolls sometimes.
+1 to the OP and very true why hasn’t this been added?
that’s why they created turret engineers

Best comment.
Isn’t this called “dungeons”?

There are ppl around in tpvp who are just gonna be rekt even vs AI i guess..i’d rather have an AI cele d/d ele or war or bunker guard in team than like 50% of ppl out there…can we get our heroes back from gw1? Please?
