7 Days Ban for Leavers
I think you’re being a bit to harsh.. sure we all hate leavers but a week ban? So, if my power goes out, or a blow a fuse, or a disconnect, or my mother gets in a car crash and I have to go to the hospital I get a automatic 7 day ban?
Maybe a 60 minute debuff that makes it so you can’t join another tourny, or something, but c’mon man. Are you saying you’ve NEVER left a single tourny?

for me not for the first leave but after maybe 3-5 leave in around 3days yes you should get ban out of pvp for 7 days, afk tested if every other player report for afk

No that’s too harsh, I can say for myself, I unexpected dc’ed yesterday, sometimes your internet just goes kaput out of nowhere.
How would you feel having a perfectly good internet connection just decide to go out, and you dc’ed from a game and now you cant even play GW2 for a week?
They just need to show a record of people leaving or dc’ing so other people know how poor losers they are or how bad there internet is. If you see someone with 500 wins 400 losses and 100 disconnections, you can tell they leave games compared to someone with 500 wins 400 losses and 3 disconnections.
They should also make disconnections/leaves count as double loss, so instead of losing 100 leaderboard ranks you lose 200 and instead of going down 3% you go down 6%. Because if you don’t have a good internet, that makes you dc 100 times out of 900 games you shouldn’t be playing tpvp.
Also I do agree that 4v5 in solo que 50% of the time is some bullkitten but sometimes people really are disconnected but 50% of the time come’on now thats not normal.

I would rather have a black list where u could put ppl u don’t want to be teamed with.
That would solve arround 70% of the problem in random matches.
We should decapitate leavers,
Ban is no enough, decapitate is the final solution,
I’m almost sure most of them will not stay AFK again,

well something needs to happen…Just got done with a match where we were down by five points and the player said we are gonna lose AFk and pfft that’s it… So lame
First anet must improve their crapy servers where you get lag and dc for no reason. last game we had like 380-350 for our team than got dc and when came back we lost…. Not to mention constant lag and delay i got durring game while my internet was doing just fine.
Just hang them and then burn the corpses…

That lovely little anecdote really hits hard, because that attitude is precisely what ruins LoL for me. If Anet doesn’t change something, the tpvp community will over time evolve to become just as toxic as in LoL. Havin a full party to do tpvp is already mandatory.
15 minutes ought to do it.
NO I think it should be “like” Gw1.
2leaves = 10min dishonor
And if they leave again after the first 10min it will be 20min then 40min …

I dont think this woud work in tournaments. The games last much longer compared to GW1 arena. If someone leaves, he`s teammates lose and that affects the rating of the players. This can be misused by manipulating the leaderboards. The penalty shoud be longer, like 1 hour and some penalty loss of points.
I think it should be based on frequency. Because I know tons of people who get disconnected due to their internet, or they’re computer turning off, or the power going out. If someone d/c once, that’s fine. You lose the match. They’re a number of reasons this could happen. Twice in an hour, that’s fine it counts for two losses for you. Three times in that same hour is where I think they should implement a time block from tournaments for 10 minutes. The more the person d/c the worse. However, this needs to be balanced, because we don’t too hurt players that have crappy internet or computer connection.

Except LoL has a significant system in place to reduce Toxicity, and GW2 has absolutely nothing of the sort. Which means not only are we going to see toxic behavior develop faster, but it will be a greater magnitude and have no way to cull it. I think they really need to start putting in a similar system to what LoL does (with the Tribunal); if it works, take it and put it in your game.

/signed, we need a system to get rid of noobs that camp the chieftain for no reason. A new report option should be added: Bad Player, this way pvp will improve and keeps out people that don’t really want to participate.
I think it is a punishment playing GW2 PvP itself.
vote for yes , i am tired of leavers. had 5 Games in a row today where in 4 Games 1 or 2 Guys did leave/go afk in Tpvp
That won’t help at all. A simple “/resign” for the team would resolve a lot of the non-competitive matches.
Matches can end and start again faster, without demoralizing losing teams.
Make the leaver take all the mmr loss for his team and give him 1 hour penalty. You’d see much less leavers.

what about if i crush? or if i have to leave urgently for real LIFE?..i get ban fo 7 days lol..
few minuts should be fine
Make it gradually longer if they leave a game in a window time. Let say:
-. first leave: no problem, but you get deserter de-buff (just shown) for 1 hour (window)
-. Second leave: its happen in window time, 15 minutes cannot play TPvP (coward debuff), deserter de-buff becomes 2 hours.
-. Third leave: 30 minutes, deserter de-buff becomes 3 hours
-. Fourth: 1 hour, deserter de-buff becomes 6 hours.
-. Five: 2 hours, deserter de-buff becomes 8 hours.
-. And so on until cap 1 day, deserter de-buff 2 days.
It can be added a system like in LoL. You can report a player being bad and their queue will adjust accordingly. (if he/she reported by 3 of his/her team-mate)
(edited by deviller.9135)
Add a exponential punishment for leavers.
ie.
- Leaves once in 7 day period, stat loss of current game plus next game.
- Leaves twice in 7 day period, stat loss of current game plus next 2.
- Leaves third time in 7 day period, stat loss of current game plus next 4. Banned for 1 day from any tpvp.
-Leaves fourth time in 7 day period, stat loss of current game plus next 4. Banned for 2 days from any tpvp.
- Leaves fifth time in 7 day period, stat loss of current game plus next 4, Banned for 4 days from any tpvp.
I like the idea but what happens if someone loses power at their house or their internet goes out right before a match?
I know it’s rare, but it happens.
Consideration would need to be taken for the untintentional disconnects.. power outage etc. The punishment ban could scale with repitition… first time 15 minutes (take the time to restart your router or whatever), second time in 24 hrs gets 1 hr (if really unintentional then take this hour to get your kitten right), 3rd time 24 hrs gets 24hr ban. And afking should be treated as match abandonment getting the treatment above. I also like the idea of showing the abandon matches in the players rating or leaderboard or whatev, like someone said above.
To clarify, the bans i mention above should only be for tpvp.
did 6 solo queue tourney games today
five of them ended with less then 5 players on my team.
two started with 4 players
one started with 3 players (lol)
one started with 5 players but one left after we lost the fight in the middle
one started with 5 players, one left at the middle of the match
/vote for 1 month ban for leavers
Champion- Magus, Shadow, Illusionist, Hunter
leave to escape the defeat, not d/c people . pathetic.

Well I just dc’ed from a Tpvp game, said my free trial is over… Well guess since its over no way they can ban me for 7 days for leaving!!! I mean DC’ing!
I think one of the problems is that you are pushed to tournament during being in queue even if you haven’t selected ‘go now’. That’s why we have /afk’ers which leads to more upset leavers.
Btw, ban is too much. Just calm down, guys, and loose (or not!) with honor. See this as a challenge
1st leave in 24hrs: No punishment other than the loss
2nd leave in 24hrs: loss x5
3rd leave in 24hrs: loss x15
4th leave in 24hrs: sent to Guantanamo Bay and waterboarded for a week… or a 7 day ban, or some other crazy punishment as at this point you’re definitely doing it on purpose.
Also, hotfilled players would be nice when you’re short even before the game starts. AFK’s should also be weeded out at this time (if somebody takes no action during the pre-game they’ll be replaced, a notification will be given of course).

I don’t care what sort of punishment is implemented, but the bottom line is…. there needs to be SOME KIND OF PUNISHMENT both for leaving matches/not showing up for tourneys…. AND for teamswapping to hold hands with your friend on the other team.
Ban or debuff dont solve anything.
If you wanna really punish leavers, give them some big icon above their head so everyone see their shame:-) Some leavers leaderboards will be fun too. Also NPC in mists can yell leavers names.

1) This is just a video game. Real life preempts it. You’ll discourage normal people with normal people priorities if you punish people for not being able to make it to a tourney they signed up for.
2)You can’t control people. Any harsh penalty will do more harm then good. Instead of tourneys popping with leavers sometimes, you’ll get a tourney system that takes 3 hours to pop.

And what about the other four players who get their win/loss record tarnished because of the leavers/no shows?
Bottom line is, if you screw over an entire team in sPvP/tPvP you deserved to be punished, regardless the reason why you did it.
It is unfair to punish others trying to play the game for YOUR real life problems.

I don’t see any correlation whatsoever between punishing leavers/no shows and an increase in queue times…. if anything making people stick to the tourney they signed up for should make rosters fill quicker… not the other way around.

A) Life sucks. Wear a hat. RL >This game. That will always be true.
B) You know what, you’re right. Just like the drug war has reduced the number of drug users in the USA, and the war on terror has reduced terrorism around the world, I’m sure harsher penalties on leavers will reduce their numbers and improve the overall quality of the queue.

wish something could be done…..
Could do how League of Legends does it… I wouldn’t ban the player from the entire game, just from sPvP or tPvP. Not like Anet cares tho!

I don’t think anyone was talking about a 7-day ban from the game…. but just in case anyone had the wrong idea…. I definitely agree that the ban should be from PvP only.

It really isn’t too much to ask that a person has a reasonable expectation of finishing a match before joining… if you don’t think you’ll be able to finish, hotjoin. Pretty much all the suggestions in this thread acknowledge the accidental/incidental leaver and noone wants harsh penalties for these players… but currently there are way too many afk’rs and leavers and RL is not the reason.

My point was that any ban discourages normal players with real lives from joining. I’ve never queued for a Tourney when I wasn’t confident that I’d be available for it, but RL supersedes it – If my pet knocks over a glass of soda, or my child starts crying, or my wife needs a hand moving something heavy, this game drops to the bottom of my priority list. Some sort of punishment for leavers would surely reduce the number of trolls/kittenty players/etc that populate tourneys, but it would also discourage real people, with real people responsibilities from queuing for fear that they might be penalized for having to take care of real people problems mid-tourney.

Why not make it like in GW1?
Make it able to report players for staning afk in spvp!
they take a spot but do nothing for their team…
Also i dont like that if i just want normal spvp fun without perfect team combinations required i have to accept that i will have unequal groups in 50% of the fights… always 5 vs 6 or 7 vs 8 etc etc…
Why cant you just make it like that games only start when 2 players are there and if a third person joins he will have to wait in spectator mode until a 4th person joins then they will both join each team at the same time so THAT THE GAME IS FAIR!!!!

Banning leavers is actually looking at it from the wrong angle completely, but not unjustified.
The angle we should look at it rewarding those that don’t leave whilst minimizing the negative effect that a leaver has on those that stay without making it exploitable.
How about:
If person leaves a pvp match tournament or not during a match the following happens.
-Deduction of 200 Glory, if glory is at 0 nothing is deducted.
-Debuff is placed on your account “Dishonorable”
Dishonorable effects:
-20% Reduction in speed in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-20% Reduction in Armour in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-20% Reduction in Damage in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-Not able to join any pvp matches for 30 minutes
The Debuff lasts for 30 minutes, does not disappear if player logs off or switches characters.
Has enough of a sting to discourage quitters, but also doesn’t totally screw over players who accidentally get screwed over by life (emergencies, power going out, etc.)
