If person leaves a pvp match tournament or not during a match the following happens.
-Deduction of 200 Glory, if glory is at 0 nothing is deducted.
-Debuff is placed on your account “Dishonorable”
Dishonorable effects:
-20% Reduction in speed in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-20% Reduction in Armour in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-20% Reduction in Damage in pve/pvp/wvwvw
-Not able to join any pvp matches for 30 minutes
The Debuff lasts for 30 minutes, does not disappear if player logs off or switches characters.

Has enough of a sting to discourage quitters, but also doesn’t totally screw over players who accidentally get screwed over by life (emergencies, power going out, etc.)

While I agree there should be some manner which discourages/bans leavers, the options you’ve provided are “dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb”. If you penalize real people with real people priorities along with leavers and kittenty players, all you’re doing is further alienating a dwindling PvP community.

Ok using your logic,
I hack the anet data base and steal your account name and password and sell it on ebay. My account gets banned, I use your logic of: "If you penalize real people with real people priorities " To create a bogus excuse of: “well you see my mom had a heart attack and I left immediately to the hospital to take care of her and make sure everything is ok. This must have happened by someone else, you have to unban my account anet. After all, all your doing is further alienating a portion of the community”
I get off scotch free, no punishment at all since anet follows your logic and I abuse your point of view to get out of trouble along with some nice amount of cash from selling your account.

Jokes aside how about a report system? Less priority ofc than people actually causing problems but it should only be valid for reporting people in your current match for the duration and some sort of hindering effect at the end of it. (So cant be abused by having people’s friends report others)

I had to take my dad to the hospital mid match once, it didn’t take long to tell my solo queue that I had to bail due to an emergency.

Prob wouldn’t help people who’s net gets cut.

So to Add why not make it a accumulative system? With random report amounts in a day to equal a fitting queue block duration. And to make it more community friendly only have this affect the abillity to solo queue, promoting team play and allow a community to grow with less hinderance.

So he just wants some fun with randoms but with equal teams…

So he joins a game but after the start the groups remain unequal and he leaves the group with more players to make it fair and because he wouldnt want to play like this anyway….
So he gets a punishment for playing fair and making the game fair for others??

Better make normal spvp with guaranteed equal group numbers instead

Those people then pls don’t join in tPvP where everything is for winning, no mess up around. Hotjoin is there for people to have fun with no responsible. Once you queue for tPvP, you should do your best,except under some special circumstances. Leavers,afk mid match where the team is losing is unacceptable,at least to me.

I know it won’t stop you no matter what but at least minimise the frequently of same thing happened if a punishment is implemented. Now where is my block button again?

That is why a punishment is necessary. The only problem is what level is appropriate and to be fair to those getting DC or reasonable excuses.

I think this is wrong. People go afk or leave because they face a premade or 4 vs 5 and the score is already something like 50-300. There is no point to waste more time with this match or give the other team free glory.
So this whole problem would solve itself, if anet would get their stuff together and fix the awfull matchmaking and implement a solo queue. After that is done we should see how it works and then discuss punishment. But I guess anet will make a total fail again and implement punishment before fixing the other porblems leading to a even lower number of people playing pvp.
So I vote for no punishment for leavers or afk, but for a punishment to anet until this stupid system is fixed!
