Hey Fellow PvPers,

Today, I’d like to discuss a really annoying topic that gets the throbbing vein in my brain really fired up! The topic is with regards to giving up when you see names of popular players on the opposite team.

See, I’m by no means a top tier Peeveepeer (Ahem got to Legendary with just Core Necro though Ahem) but there’s one thing I always welcome when it stands in front of me; a challenge. And when a challenge like a stacked team is in front of me, my blood runs hot with anticipation….. only to be completely crushed by the words “Stacked team, going afk” …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………I MEAN FOR GOODNESS SAKE! Do you have ANY desire to be good at PvP? Even if you don’t, beating them would earn you a ton of rating! I mean COME ON!! Even if you lose, make them earn that win! Seriously! What do you earn from just giving up and rolling over? I’m really asking, what do you earn? Just don’t queue ranked if all you’re looking for is an easy match. Just go unranked or Hot-join! Actually maybe Hot-join is too hard for you, how about Dragon Arena instead? Actually that might also be too hard, maybe Keg Brawl, yea definitely Keg Brawl, go play that.

So many times I’ve had Helseth or Rom or Drazeh on my team and I’ve lost because the other team didn’t just bend over and fall because “Oh look it’s that popular streamer! Better go bow to him and give him burnt offerings because he’s Jesus.” I mean seriously guys! COME ON!

Sick and tired of the wannabe PvKittens who just crumble and fall at the sight of any popular player. It’s sad, it’s dumb and it needs to stop.

Agree. Happened multiple times that after seeing some top50 players in the enemy team the teammates start b*tching immediatly about how bad matchmaking is etc. instead of focusing on the not-so-impossible task of beating them.

No, i have to agree with the afker, at some point you have to get the point across to Anet that enough is enough, even if that means ruining their pvp environment.

If this was a few months after launch, i might be with you, but its been what 3 kittening years?. I have 0 tolerance left for bullkitten on pvp.

a- Ranking does not matter because of class imbalance bullkitten.
b- Loosing is still acceptable because they kittened up pvp so hard, NOBODY, was playing it, thus they had to incorporate the ranked wards.
a+b= Impossible to take pvp seriously.

Call it passive resistance. It got you talking on the forums about class imbalance, even if indirectly.

When u hear stories of gold tier 3 players bieng matched up with legendary duo queus some even bieng esl players. then this is a problem that deserves to be adressed and critisiced. U OP shouldn’t condone such imbalanced matches. Just because players do not want to get farmed by duo queu legendaries, doesn’t mean that they are wusses that do not wish to be challenged? What is wrong with having an league in which u progress and then progressively the stakes get higher. U do realise that bieng challenged is dependent on who u fight and what your relative skill level is OP? A high tier bronze player might feel as if he’s challenging an awsome Silver tier 1 god etc.

This is a gross generalisation on your part OP.

Not everyone likes insane challenges. But, that’s no reason to go afk.

Yup.

Me facing legendary players at ~1500 rating, really isn’t inspiring. Did I afk? No. Did I try like 100% to beat them? Ofc no, because teams were so unbalanced.

So to OP, yes I want challenge, once my skill level is even half of theirs, and teams are balanced. Until then, IT’S MATCHMAKING PROBLEM!

Similar situation to when a team of all pugs with no voice communication goes against a full team on voice in unranked.

Do I give up? Nope. If they’re out rotating the crap out of my team cause comms do I break a sweat trying to prevent it. Nope. I’ll just try to enjoy the match and see how many of them can’t even play effectively 1v1 and are being team carried. It any of them are actually good I’ll probably just train them all game. I’d do the same in both cases tbh.

Heh yeah Rune, the most fun part in such a silly matchup is trying to get a 1v1 kill, but of course they absolutely do not want to die 1v1 to protect that kitten, so they will always go out of their way to turn every 1v1 into a 3v1 or worse even when they’re holding all the points with a 400 point lead. lol!

I always imagine what they’re saying in coms…“OMG! I am in a 1v1, HELP ME ON FAR! NOW!111!!1!”

Points should be much further apart since now everyone is rocking at least 25% passive movement speed and usually some teleports/super-speed/etc. Just one more thing on a long list of power-creep casualties that make this games PvP stale anymore. /cry

I can honestly say that only 1-2 times has someone quit and ive played around 150 matches this season.

Even in the games where you see 2 ESL players and 2 top 250 players on the other team did no one on my team quit. The score just goes 500-100, that happens.

You do have to question Match Making though.

Ive said this since Season 1, you cant fix anything until you fix match making. On another thread you had a picture of 3 silvers and 2 golds facing platinum and legendary players. That isnt good for anyone and i dont know how this is not the issue that needs to be discussed in the forums.

So many bad threads of X class is OP instead of simply just saying im getting out classed why am i consistently facing these people?

I personally dont mind facing ESL level players as long as there is one on my team. Thats great but GW2 is running into a issue of X players are on 1 side and X players on the other and Match Making knows its gonna be 500-100 and players have caught on to it to.

Unfortunately many pvps players are lazy and want to win easy, so complain so much of the system, will always say that the game system is bad, will improve the system and again say that it is bad because they did not get to catch legendary, platinum or are In the best placements within the leaderboard.

What fills me with rage, is not enough for those players who complain about the system being the problems of not knowing how to play and are still afraid of facing a player for being ESL, I with my ranger core I face any ESL since I have Brazilian friends who Say they have already won in the 1 vs 1 against some.

So stop crying and learn to play.

I don’t care about competition, I don’t care about self-improvement or challenge, I don’t particularly want any of those things, I just want to clear whatever hurdles are between me and the PvP-specific loot. If you don’t want to play with me, that’s fine, I don’t want to be there, but the simple solution is to work with ANet to remove all PvP-specific rewards from the game, so that people who don’t love PvP don’t have to be there.

This is a PSA. Please try to remember to stay on point. No need to let a decap when you are 3v2 and everyone wants to range except the enemy… It’s really very frustrating to see a point get decapped on the mini map when we outnumber the point. Watch the ticks on the point and get in there when you need to!! 1 second can be the difference between getting points for the next 20 seconds of a team fight or getting nothing. This is a point capture game after.

I’m Gold and I agree with the OP.

How is this a prostate-specific antigen? Some people will be annoyed with just about anything that happens. A game could be perfectly balanced with flawless matchmaking and you’ll still have rage quitters or those that refuse to play with or against some players.
I don’t think a PSA test will prevent this, but I’ve been wrong before.

You don’t have to be there now and really you shouldn’t be. Posts like this should be forwarding to A-net so they understand the problem people like you are causing more clearly and to rethink pvp rewards totally. An increase in the pvp population is meaningless if a large percentage of them are people like you. I would rather have longer queue times and only be playing with only people who care about competition and getting better.

The only way legendary players should be in with gold and silver is if they are split up evenly on both sides in a way that makes both teams average MMRs as close as posisible and even that should be a rare occurence. The mechanics of matchmaking are fundamentally flawed as I believe they do not re-arrange teams after 10 are selected. They match five versus five and thats it. They can and should do better.

Good job. Between getting people like you in my matches, match after match. And the self proclaimed pros who used to farm me when I had such team mates. And the ANet moderators, that are more concerned with me voicing my opinions on these forums, more so then people like ruining most of my matches. To the point basically I pretty much all but stopped PvPing in GW2.

This PvE rewards system in PvP just needs to go. No ascended items, no dungeon reward tracks, or any amount of gold should be rewarded for losing your matches. If you lose you should get nothing. But ANet rather have players like yourself en-mass for their pros to look good on youtube and twitch while farming. Instead of keeping it’s PvP core players happy and, wanting more PvP in GW2, which better quality of matches instead of no point, non competitive quantity of matches.

At last it is what it is. I am now a firm believer of this is the reason PvP games exists. But then again I also have to thank players like yourself. If ANet was not focused on pushing yall to completely decrease match quality, in a bid to make PvP in GW2 look more populated on paper. I would have never stepped outside of GW2’s PvP to explore and play, actual PvP games. So I guess that’s the sliver lining there.

I apologize if it sounds like I’m blaming players like your self. I’m actually more wiser and passed the point of blaming players like your self, for intentional developer’s decisions. This is all on the devs. and not at all on players like your self.
