A different thread about Skyhammer
Implying that Solo Que matters in any form of game be it in LoL or DOTA. The best way to deal with solo que is to void the value of Solo Que Rating.
It’s your loss if you keep dwelling on the most meaningless rating in every form of “e-sport.”
I’m aware of the fact that IF you are in a good team, your Solo Que rating should be as good as the team you’re in. Sometimes you get good games in Solo Que yeah, but most of the time though your games in Solo Que will not matter compared to the games you do on twitch.tv tournaments.
P.S There is a good reason why there is no Solo Que LCS in LoL or DOTA.
TL;DR stop dwelling on Solo Que rating. It’s pointless, both the dwelling and the rating. Just do team que and avoid Sky Hammer at all cost to keep your sanity in tact.
It’s because Skyhammer (and leaderboards to a lesser extent) is viewed so negatively that people are willing to accept losses in a rated match when they see it. Your teammates knew fully well what they were doing, and accepted the consequences of doing so.
The alternative is for them to put in 1% effort while pretending to be new, or spam suicide pretending they have lag or are bad at dodging.
to be faceroll at the high levels, because it
needs to be accessible to the casuals and bads.

The alternative was to suck it up and play anyway. The consequences for their actions didn’t just hurt their own ranking, it hurt the ranking of the few teammates they had that actually cared about the match, as well as ruined the enjoyment of said players within the game. It was childish and selfish.
This is awful behavior and should be discouraged.

Nobody said they were saints. I was saying there’s basically nothing you can do about it except improve/remove the map. Meanwhile, it seems the energy directed in that direction may be bearing fruit.
There is always a minimum amount of effort required, and right now it is just enough to not be labeled AFK by the game. Without a subjective view, these players are playing the game within the rules, so just as intended. Even with a subjective view, bad play can be made to look like inexperienced play. That’s not a can of worms you want to open.
Be careful how far you go, though, because the rules will apply to everyone. It would be difficult to distinguish Alt-F4 from DC, so any policy that affects one will undoubtedly affect the other. A tPvP group being unable to play together for 3 days as a result of a single disconnect would be rather unfortunate, especially if it was a top team.
EDIT: as far as hurting ranking, so long as you play the map yourself there is kitten .6% chance of Skyhammer AFK boosting your ranking vs 44.4% chance of it dropping it. That is not a valid argument.

“How can we educate people about Skyhammer so that it isn’t viewed in such a negative light?” People are not the problem. Skyhammer is the problem, people just noticed the incredibly cheap kills you can farm up with few classes and chose not to be on the level of players “cheesing it up”.
You cant call solo queue “rated match” with a straight face – there is no working rating system for any queue. There are no leaderboards in gw2, you can get from % to top100 in teamq by loosing 1 match in 2 months (at least I did).
Don’t take solo queue as a serious mode but as a way to improve your skills then that might change on how you perceive it. Until they fix the 4v5, the matchmaking, have a visible mmr and an in-game ladder not that cheap out of game leaderboard kitten sakes common lol once we get those maybe in 3 years then yes you can see it as a competitive mode and no one will protest because they will actually care about the rank.
People are just fed up with Skyhammer. They no longer wish to play it, regardless of the hit on their rating. Anet should probably take notice, but won’t.
this is where anet should step up and improve their dishonorable system.
like i suggested 1st offense 3 days ban, 2nd a week, 3rd a month, etc will surely put these noobs back to hotjoin (where they belongs) and leave competitive pvpers in a quality rated match.
but ofc its anet, what matters to them is getting pve players into pvp so they can show the fancy stats to their upper head about how successful they promoted pvp in this game .
in the mean time they completely ignoring and destroying the quality of pvp.
the only solution to this is do a pre-made and play team Q.
yes it is troublesome to wait for 4 other members of ur team everytime u want to pvp but its way better than having whole bunch of noobs ruining your game.
(I know “a change is in the works” for Skyhammer but that is not an immediate solution).
Yesterday I did a bunch of SoloQ matches and then Skyhammer showed up. I was playing an Ele and I rerolled to Mesmer which I thought was appropriate to properly take advantage of the map with the team setup we had.
Unfortunately my teammates did not have a similar attitude.
2 of them sat at the spawn zone for the entirety of the match because “we do not like Skyhammer” and “we are going to protest Skyhammer by not playing.” That prompted another to ragequit. So the match quickly became a 2v5 because the opposing team wasn’t composed of idiots.
Now I know a lot of people hate Skyhammer, and I have seen a lot of bullkitten, but I have NEVER seen something so ridiculous. Who chooses to do a “protest” during a rated match? What upsets me the most is the other team wasn’t even particularly good. 1v1ing them on points was trivial. It was simply impossible for 2 people to cap as quickly as 4 people + the hammer.
What solutions exist when you’re in a predicament like this? (I don’t want to hear about reporting because that really does nothing).
How can we educate people about Skyhammer so that it isn’t viewed in such a negative light? Or how can we convince people to practice it until they are comfortable?
I usually hate ppl who go afk, but even if i won’t go afk on skyhammer just because map is totally crap i can’t really blame ppl who do….afking askyhammer is not a single person qq, is the only “legit” (At least is not against rules) thing someone can do trying to make anet admitting their mistakes…they’re blatantly ignoring player’s feedbacks about this cancer map since it got out so whatever ppl are gonna do on skyhammer in order to boycott this map sounds good to me, if ppl in my team go afk on sh i won’t blame them (Let alone you shoudn’t care bout ladder, and even more bout soloq ladder, that much since it’s already broken as kitten, there are players in top soloq not even on tpvp ladder…nough said)

As i said i won’t afk because i’ll never afk a match (Well maybe i would but when everything it’s already fubar anyway) but i totally understand ppl who afk skyhammer. Anet doesn’t give a single kitten to player’s feedback why should players give kittens bout this map?
+1 to remove skyhammer from solo queue
its a stupid map that replaces actual pvp with stupid gimmick fights, anet refuses to acknowledge that this map is entirely a kittenshow. Skyhammer and pulling people through holes is kittened.
the fact that people will actually change classes or change their specs over to kittened kitten specifically to abuse the stupid map mechanics should be a red flag that this map needs to either be changed drastically or removed because its gimmick dominates the gameplay aspect in a cheap and unintuitive way.
theres nothing creative about this map, its garbage and should just be removed
In Vee Wees thread there is, at least, finally an answer.
Skyhammer: Obligatory “Nothing is off the table”. (except deleting skyhammer)
I dont afk on skyhammer as well, that is because I dont play ranked in GW2 anymore.
In fact I wont play for the next 2 weeks, because on hand I have to pass and important and hard test and on the other hand, hearing the things getting patched destroy even my hopes that something in PvP is really getting better.
I am Ele main, and that map just ruins my day if it pops in a queue, the only “cheesemode” skill you have as D/D is updraft.
Unfortunately the ppl I usually play TeamQ with are rarely online all together.
But honestly I cant blame those AFK ppl as well. That topic existed for quite a long time. The Thread has over 1200 entries. And there was no response.
So some ppl are not only a little upset, but downright frustrated, so these kind of actions seem only natural to me.
