A few builds enjoy
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQNAW5dlsApfntCxWI8DRBDRkjNYnFOedRSAA-TJBHwALLDA4JA0b/hBXEAA
the link gives you the most used support-guard build out there (some little things may be changed, depending on the guard using it)
I wanted to give you a bit critque for your support build, but sadly except for the weapon and amulett choice most of your choices make no sense to me.
Shelter>Healing breeze bc it wont get interrupted
Signet of mercy active takes too long, the allie will get stomped
the other two can be used but i think a guard should run atleast one stability
also using two consecration and then not going for the trait..
Tome of courage: you can go for it if you really want, but then take the stability trait for it
sigil choices make no sense for support
traits are kinda random
pls dont see this as an offense. Its good to make your own thoughts about builds,. But a good thing is to go first with meta builds to kinda learn the class and then when you got some knowledge think of changes to improve it for yourself
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Guide:Guardian_-_Bunker Bunker guard guide
@Anti thanks for your input! Let me explain my choices a bit so I can better be understood for my support build. I was focused on making the guardian more heals then anything else I went with healing breeze because it heals others just as good as it heals yourself. The signet of mercy was equipped because of the amount it adds to healing more for the passive then the active skill. The support build is not really meant for 1v1 or to do DPS its more of a healing build. I went with mace and staff because those two weapons improve healing the staff almost all its skills heal and the mace a trait makes it so your heals are stronger. Their is a strait that makes symbols heal each go but its either that or 2handed weapon recharge decrease and since 2 for staff is good heals and low recharge rate you can spam that kinda good.
But yeah support builds is the new frontier for me so I am still working on some kinks. My DPS and bunker builds tend to be a bit better so I’m a definitely still learning my way around support builds.

There is a lot wrong with these builds “with all due respect”
(A) DPS medi/burst only works 1v1 to begin with
It’s terrible in tpvp for many reasons
If you’re random roaming in WvW, you should use something other than Guardian
It’s just too flat footed by itself
(B) If you want to DPS in tpvp, you need Greatsword/Staff
4/2/2/2/4 works wonders for raw DPS spike as well as CC to heard opponents
Use Soldiers with it and STR runes
But better yet, is a hybrid Greatsword/Staff with Pure of Voice/Soldier runes/Valkyrie
0/2/2/6/4 still deals considerable support DPS spike and still has much party support
© There are only two Guardian Bunker builds that are practical in current meta
Mace & Shield / Staff ~ 0/0/4/6/4 ~ with mace of justice – Pure of Voice / Soldier Runes
Large symbol healing/AoE condi removals and CCs to help revive
Then a similar build uses Scepter & Shield / Hammer ~ 0/0/4/6/4 ~ Honorable Shield
Of course with Pure of Voice/Soldier Runes
This version has much heavier CC and helps the team’s call targets succeed
These four builds >
Mediations and other such skills are just selfish and do nothing for your team
They won’t cut it once you reach around 90% or higher in rating
@Trevor thanks for the input! The DPS build is really good in team fights if you want to get to the spell casters and remove them from the battle because of burst skills. Intervention and Sword skill 2 are good for making up ground when the spell casters run away and Torch 4 can help in the middle of fights by setting everyone ablaze hope you played with the build before commenting. Thanks again for the input!
PS these are sPvP builds
PPS you can read a driving manual but if you don’t actually drive you won’t truly understand the mechanics!
(edited by Zoso.8279)
DPS Guard can be good in organized 2 v. 2/3 v. 3/5 v. 5s but I wouldn’t take it into solo queue unless you own the spec inside and out. Ideally it has to be built around because it can be uniquely strong but it also has weaknesses you can drive a truck through.

I agree also worth noting is every build will have a weakness Rock Paper Scissor ftw! GW2 any class can be DPS/Tank/Support this is why I like GW2 so much.

None of that’s true
PSPS! I have nearly 1000 tpvp matches played “as guardian”
PSPSPS! I wonder if you have driven the car yourself or ever even ever read the manual!
If you’re still trying to run Medi/Burst, you should be playing a Thief
It is in all aspects better at the Medi/Burst’s job, than the Medi/Burst
Ultimately: The Medi/Burst is too squishy and it’s attacks are unreliable
It has no CC to ensure the spike and it has no disengagement
~ Thus it is a bad roamer
@Trevor idk…. ANY class can be burst DPS I think this is how the developer intended the game to be played Thief is good for burst imo because of stealth but they fall just as fast. Guardians can good condition damage and can take more hits when running a DPS burst build….. Ego ohhhhhh the ego……. But thanks for the input!
Also Shield 5 and Sanctuary can create space for a retreat. The thief and guardian both can have affective DPS but they do it in different ways. Thief rely on stealth and guardians on defense one is heavy armor and another medium. A good DPS thief will go down in 4 hits and good DPS guard will fall in 10 (not exact numbers just an example). Now thief’s can jump in and out of fights easier which is where the balance of each classes fall into place.

If anyone has any builds they would also like to share please feel free!
Note: My guard build DPS is a good counter to this Thief build.

do you really plan to support someone with no stability and pretty much no condition removal, or you just have to all stand on point all together under nades and on necro’s wells in order to remove condis? and gl using healing breeze with not even stability to prevent it from being interrupted (Let alone hb is kitten anyway) and tome…and runes of monk..just…lol

Hey if you can think of one that is better and still heal focused feel free to share. Im not trying to send anyone to their death I’ve put up 2 other builds with good survivability you don’t have to be such a kitten.

Just standard ah 0 5 30 30 5 (0 1 6 6 1) or older 0 0 10 30 30 (0 0 2 6 6 )…
Staff – mace/focus
Double energy double intelligence (For vigor)

bunker guard is the only class that pretty much never changed in 2 years…and don’t make the mistake of defending points alone, wars (And others) can defend points alone…bunker guardian should always roam to teamfight, if you go for an even tf with guard and they haven’t you already won if you don’t mess everything up. And for god’s sake…just let 1 (one) guy on point holding it and let other mates kite around…when the guy on point is getting low just switch with someone else…example war starts on point with guard and nec outside it being safe from aoes and condispam (And guard staying near nec to help him with stability, protection and stuff…keep in mind necros are weaker on the first teamfight cause they don’t have full ds and you’re gonna face ppl with everything off cd) while war can tank up with stances with not much problems…war gets low with stances on cd..guard goes on point and war kites around healing up with hs waiting for stances being out of cd (And meanwhile protecting necro that is gonna be focused hard always being first target if going with one war and one bunker guard)…rinse and repeat…if you play like this and they just teamfight like mad chickens all standing on point and focusing the guardian you’re gonna win every single teamfight hands down….this is like a really basic way to go, there are way more complicated openings but going like this is gonna be a good start already

Ego? Who made the original comment about manuals and driving?
I merely stated a fact that DPS Guardians do not work in higher tier tpvp and you decided to respond with a condescending statement towards me.
Let me explain to you why a Medi/Burst does not work against better players:
(A) When it jumps in for it’s burst, it has no CC to stop the opponent from standing and attacking you back during your burst. This kills the shield on your focus, often stopping the detonation that is key to your entire DPS spike. Also, you have the lowest vitality in the game and to be able to tank long enough to launch the wreckless combo, you often must slam and use every defensive skill you have to be able to do it. This leaves you instantly vulnerable after launching the burst. All an opponent needs to do is spot the obvious sword/focus Guardian and simply “dodge roll” out of the way. The medi burst immediately fails and it will every time against any good player because it is an obvious full skill bar recharge one hit trickster build that has no ability to change the rotation of it’s skills. It is an obvious and easy build to out maneuver. This leaves you little room to switch up your play style to be able to out play a better player as this build entirely relies on that one big DPS spike and if it fails, you will lose when “the hambow” or “pistol whip” CCs you to the ground and whack a moles you to death after all of your Aegis/Stability/Invuln has already been used and your mega burst is on a long recharge.
(B) Mediations are selfish. Even at a mid-point skirmish, you offer nothing to the party. The best you can do is be smart enough to bring stand your ground for party AoE stability. Beyond this, the trait allocation for Medi/Burst does not support any other party support. Even a Hambow, has constant CC to stomp enemy stomps or help others setup team DPS spikes. Even a Thief can SR the party to help with stomps and to save players from being stomped. Even an Elementalist, has water fields. Even a Mesmer innately offers distraction. Even an Engineer offers CC protection and often AoE party healing. Even a Ranger has CCs to stomp enemy stomps. Even a Necromancer fears opponents from stomps but a Medi/Burst, literally offers no cohesion at all, to the party.
© After driving my tpvp for 2 years and writing a few manuals on Guardian myself, I can tell you that medi/burst guardians are always the very first target that goes down, in every single match that we encounter them. They simply do not have any ability to disengage/survive and therefore become the first target out of convenience to kill.
All in all, it is a great 1v1 pressure/chase build
But it is a terrible build for tpvp
And that is why it is not used in any serious tournament situation such as ToL
~ Go figure
@Trevor Let me start off by apologizing the manual remark I made was just because I didn’t think you actually played the build before commenting on it but your right it does come off as condescending and again I apologize.
Let me just make a few comments on the build so you can see how I play it and maybe get a different POV. When I play the build I run Sword/Torch & Mace/Shield and all the skills I’ve listed above. I put Hammer in the original set up to see if anyone would correct me after playing the build but the actually build runs Spirit shield instead of hammer. When engaging the first thing I do is pop up [Zealot’s Flame] then I use [Flashing Blade] which puts me directly in front of the enemy since I am close [Zealot’s Flame] burns the enemy it can not be blocked so I am for sure hitting them with cd without even using my burst skills. If they try to immobilize me my Aegis blocks their 1st stun attempt. Once I’m in front of the enemy my basic attack on the sword does great damage so I don’t have to use [Zealots Defense]. Once the enemy tries to disengage with a dodge or skill move I have a few options I can either throw my [Zealot’s Flame] or dodge to make up the space or use [Cleansing Flames] or even [Zealot’s Defense] Which has enough range to hit them even if they dodge (I know this because of the many times I’ve used the skill, feel free to test this with a guidlie or friend). What I tend to do is dodge with them to make up space and use my skill 1 on sword [Sword of Wrath] which does very good damage to any spell caster (DPS) or even to bunker builds. Once i’ve hit them once or twice then ill use [Zealots Defense] to really put the hurt. If I am getting attacked I have 3 Aegis to help counter hits or stuns etc.. One which I start with in battle the second from f3 and the third from the shout [Retreat] If I get zerged which has happened (hopefully my team is close by) I can do two things one is use my elite skill [Renewed Focus] Or switch to mace/Shield which give me two more defensive skills [Protecters strike] or [Shield of absorption]. But lets get back to the fight once I use [Zealots Defense] Which tend to be the 1st burst I use the enemy usually tries to disengage again that is when I use [Judges Intervention] to close the distance cause cd and still have one dodge left but usually by this time it would already be back to two (depending on the fight). If they use another disengage i’d use [Cleansing Flames] to continue the DPS. If they immobilize me [Judges intervention] and [Flashing blades] is very useful for making up space. This is just a little example of a fight where even though I don’t have much HP the Aegis with the heals per use and the elite and shield and mace skills give me survivability in a fight.
This build doesn’t rely only on the burst of [Zealots Defense] but also on the damage of [Zealots Flames] [Cleansing Flames] and [Sword of Wrath] and lets not forget the spirit shield which makes all range skills ineffective. Even in close range if any class uses a ranged weapon my Spirit Shield makes short work of the incoming DPS.
