A question for the playerbase
HoT introduced so much AoE CC that pvp is broken now and there is no fix for it because you would have to remove all the elites specs from the game and start over again, with a completely new design. The question if there should be passive or active cc break is such a minor detail that it doesn’t even matter in the grand scheme.
- Remove the CC-breaks in response to being CC’ed. All of them.
- Damage from elite specs needs toned down.
- Defenses of elite specs, both passive and active, need toned down.
- Revert some of the “arms race” changes to core.
- THEN re-work the amulet system getting rid of the power-creeped 4 stat amulets and introducing mix&match 3-stat items which allow for tankier builds for newer players.
they can simply turn passives into actives.
for example, tempest has a passive stunbreak that casts gale song on cc. change it to “activate gale song with your special action key on cc”. the special action key was introduced with some living story episodes and raids. mine is on my c key.
so instead of getting a free stunbreak (or elixir, or endure pain or whatever) you have to press your special action key to activate the trait. instead of a passive activation i would have to use my c key to make use of it.
this has multiple benefits for the game:
- it brings more skill to the game, turning passive get out of jail cards into actives that need to be used at the right moment.
- it lets you actively decide when you want to use your trait.
a passive trait should always be a passive trait; gain x% of whatever. it should never do something actively unless they change it to a way that you as the player have to make use of it.

If they remove passives, they should give huge cast time to CC skills, cuz they have poor animations, fast cast time and hard to see.
Or completely remove stunlocks chains leaving only 1 class with the possibility of doing so.

As we all know many of the players here dislike passive counter cc traits as they punish a skilled player landing their cc and rewards someone who didn’t dodge or take any defensive measures.
Speak for yourself.
CC stunlocks chains is a style of play its not mean “skillful player”, not everyone likes this style of play.
Has tons of passive CC, likes Dazes and immobility, that only lose in ease of application for the condispam.

Where did I say “everyone likes to spam cc and faceroll the game”? I said many players (especially ones with only a few choice cc’s I.E s/d thief who has 2 applications of daze/stun) dislike having to time their cc to be meaningful in a fight only to have it turn around and screw them over due to a passive allowing the other player to counter cc because they failed to dodge or block.
