i want to start off by saying I find it sad that I am posting this on yule. map chat/team chat in literally every pvp game I have played in the last 2+months has been just unnecessarily aggressive and rude. so I thought I would ask a few questions before deciding how I will proceed. can we report players who basically do nothing and spend the whole match posting over and over “what a horrible —-—— team” and other unnecessary rude posts that basically happen anytime one of these megalomaniacs starts to get frustrated with a loss? it creates an environment that really just isn’t any fun to be in and this is a game, it’s supposed to be fun. and also supposedly it’s supposed to have the friendliest online community. if not then I will be turning off my map chat/team chat from now on. I post this question in the hopes that I can get some guildlines on what is and isn’t reportable so that I might be able to keep map/team chat on; as sometimes strategy and friendly conversation happens there.

Here are the official Rules of Conduct:

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/guild-wars-2-rules-of-conduct/

I think the two points that address your question are these:

  • 1. While playing Guild Wars 2, you must respect the rights of others and their rights to play and enjoy the Game. To this end, you may not defraud, harass, threaten, embarrass or cause distress and/or unwanted attention to other players…
  • 22. …Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.

What causes distress is obviously a very subjective thing, but if you feel this to be true for you, I would report without hesitation.

Same goes for any afk.

However I would not suggest you turn off chat. This prevents the other 4 players in your team communicating with you and disrupts their game.

Report & Block.

Are you expecting them to ban people?

not “super sensitive” I just don’t feel like being cussed at/harassed every single match I play. as to what I am expecting from anet, I am expecting what any social breach costs. first a warning second a short suspension third a more severe punishment(not necessarily a ban). that having been said the only “friendly” online community I ever encountered was World of Tanks, but only in it’s first year. in it’s first year they had a banned on first social breach no tolerance policy. after first year they caved on this policy in order to increase active player pop. I made this post because I was looking for clarification on what counts as a social tos breach and what doesn’t. if what I am encountering every match doesn’t count then I will simply turn off the chats. if it does then I will keep the chats active and block/report. basically is there a place where I can read the actual tos. the code of conduct is too vague to go by. I have gained back my enjoyment of the pvp in other games by doing this. for example I have no mic and have everyone on mute automatically in the CoD series. while I acknowledge that some players will be sore losers I feel that we can all show a little sportsmanship and deal with losses instead of spewing a bunch of brain garbage all over the chat. it’s a team event we either all lost or all won, some players seem unable to accept their part in that and lash out.
