Hello ladies and gents. I have a little present for you newer players out there. I remember back when I first started the game I had a hell of a time finding good builds to play, let alone builds that other people commonly play.

So today I bring to you a short list of the common builds found in TPvP!

As a short note a lot of these builds are changeable in minor senses. Some players prefer different sigils or even different utilities. Don’t be afraid to experiment a bit!

Also, when a build says “basic” and is unattributable to a certain player it means I simply made it up off the top of my head. I assume that I got most of them right, but some (like the bunker guardian and condi necro) are very much up to personal preference and change!

Thief:
Jumper double s/d

Mesmer:
Supcutie’s shatter
Countless’ clone kill
Helseth’s halting strike/shatter

Ranger:
Basic spirit ranger build
Basic trap ranger build

Necromancer:
Basic necromancer condi build
Basic necromancer power well build

Elementalist:
Basic fresh air build
Basic rock solid soldier’s build

Warrior:
Tarcis’ hammer longbow
The ‘ham’ build (rifle switchable for axe/mace or axe/shield)
Basic bunker warrior build

Engineer:
HGH rifle
HGH condis
Bomb/nade
Chaith’s power nade

Guardian:
Ctang’s DPS guardian
Basic bunker guardian build
Arken’s DPS Guardian Build

its a shame that both Jumper and Caed stopped playing…
on the other hand, thieves will have to come up with their own builds instead of following the “pros”. I guess well see who is good and who isn’t next year.

Bunker Guard build is out of date imho. This is closer to the build that has been used in recent tournaments (with sigil of life swapped for accuracy quite a bit) by most guardian bunkers. I appreciate the build listed has been used by Lord Nag Nag I think?

Most spirit rangers in the meta use a Carrion amulet and take Sharpened Stone trait in Marksmanship over the vigor when crit.

This is an amazing thread.

Why don’t you have the ele Water/Arcane bunker build? As much as ele’s complain about build diversity, well within reason to be honest. That build does still work in spite of the healing and RTL nerfs, it’s just not a viable bunker build, the changes made it into more of a duelist build.

This is my generic S/P, SH build. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to never let necromancers cast again. An Alternative is to use 6 runes of Lyssa instead

Depending on how the aftercast reduction goes, it might rise like metal gear rising. Its the only build I know for real.

I’d like to try out your build, especially as it’ll get slightly buffed with upcomming bug fixes/ balance changes. Could I ask for some tips? How should I play with it, as in, should I burst and run, or try to overlast my opponent, and should I favor team playing or dueling, etc.

Just thought I’d add this build for S/D Thief. It’s about to be nerfed, but nobody plays Jumper’s double S/D build any more. The build linked has been the standard S/D build for quite a while.

The defining ele build, the way it was meant to be played. Back in the day this build used to do it all, survive, burst, support and heal teammates. You name it this build could do it.

Alas, the days have come when every other classes damage melts even the bunker eles to death in seconds. You can only imagine what this spec will suffer. I warn you this spec is not for the feint of heart. The braindead zombie specs of this world hunger for no other meat as much as ele flesh.

The warriors have grown hides that not even our lightning strikes can pierce, being nigh unkillable while only wearing loin cloths as their bodies seem to regenerate in front of our eyes despite our elemental onslaught.
