I don’t really think hammer is the cause of warriors being amazing right now.

I think the real culprit is that the longbow field is a guaranteed 3 condition removal/giant burning field.

Instead of nerfing hammer, I think that making the longbow burst skill a Single target skill which will create the field on a successful hit would make this weapon a lot more balanced and make the hammer/longbow build require more skill to play.

I actually find fighting against a hammer warrior quite fun, trying to kite/dodge well telegraphed attacks is engaging, but having to stand in a pulsing damaging burning field that I can’t do anything about isn’t.

All meta builds require no skill anyway.
- necro > cast minions and spam aoe
- ranger> cast spirits and spam 111
- engineer ( take more skill but still…)> massive aoe spam
- S\D thief > … spam 333
- hambow> spam f1

If they ever fix warrior class to require more skill to play , they need to fix other stuff aswell , the AoE spam is just baindead for all classes. And the minions\spirits it’s even worse than that , necro is the easiest class to play with minions for sure.

Warrior is OP in PvE anyway, what is more it is hard to get your attack missed or blocked in PvE, after this change it require attention when you use skill and allow counterplay, this is nice idea to balance skill without nerfing it

Please tell me how having longbow be single target but have the exact same effect on successful hit would hurt at all in PvE. Also, who the hell uses longbow in PvE? LOL. All this would do is make it so that a warrior couldn’t just spam it in PvP and would have to search for a target that he could hit.

And for WvW, who cares? Just because you run around in a big blob and can’t be bothered to actually find a target doesn’t mean the game should be balanced around that.

Having one of the most powerful attacks in the game on a 10 second cooldown isn’t smart.

Warrior isnt OP in PVE and the f1 skill on long bow is fine. Even if they decide to change it to what you suggested they can seperate the skill from the PVE version.

If it needs a fix the best way would be to add some cast time to it like killshot but not to that extreme.

If it needs a fix the best way would be to add some cast time to it like killshot but not to that extreme.

The longbow F1 ability to hit the ground and not a target is essentially the only ability warriors have to try to deter players from standing on a point to get a cap. Other classes like necro have abilities where standing anywhere near them is more threatening then standing in Combustive shot.

Why do warriors care so much about some minor damage nerfs. Anet already said the nerfs aren’t even that bad, just deterring players from using defensive runes while putting out the damage that a dps runes should. If you need defensive runes and all those stuns, you need to figure something out because hammer won’t be it.

Go try a GS/Longbow build and you’ll see longbow doesn’t carry the hammer at all.

Leave longbow aoe as it is.We already have rifle for singletarget.Combustive shot needs a buff since power dps is really kitten.

I agree that CI is at the heart of the issue. Even for non-longbow users, as far as I can tell this is an essential trait for PvP. I can’t imagine a warrior not taking it, period. It doesn’t help that the longbow burst skill is so good with it but maybe the heart of the issue is the trait itself.
