One thing I’ve just recently read, and gave me this idea is that elite specs current give more compared to their non-elite spec counter parts.

From the thief perspective ( while still a little under performing imo )
They gain an extra dodge/custom dodges, additional weapon choice + skills etc.
Or even mesmer, they gain F5 and a new effect ( alacrity ) which in all honesty is nothing but an upgrade.

And while we all know core trait lines could use some buffing, I always thought that when you get an elite spec ( say thief again ), that Daredevil would replace “trickery” since trickery was all about steal etc and that daredevil would basically bring something to replace F1 ( steal ) kinda like Reaper did. So basically Trickery would only be selectable within the “elite” trait line, like DD is.

This would truly be a win/lose situation, where chosing DD would actually make you lose steal/other thief goodies ? ( Trickery does have that 3 initiative etc. )

In all honesty, when I first heard of elite specs, I always thought that the traitline focusing on the class mechanic would also be an “elite” traitline but yeah, thoughts ?

I kind of agree on the idea, not the follow through. Elite specs should in someway nerf to core spec. Taking virtues and trickery (and others) away would make some big changes to their builds, but for chrono, illusions isnt exactly the strongest spec in mesmer. That goes to dueling. So I thought it would be interesting to remove something from the core spec, like what reaper and DH did. For example, in chrono take out distortion to put in continuum split, thus changing the mesmers gameplay and play style. I agree the implementation is kinda sloppy.
