ADD Resign/surrender for pvp
It should’ve been around already, but I doubt they’ll do that, because then matches would end much faster, and they can’t have that.
The problem is that this could be exploitable. Just continually join matches and resign them for reward track progress. It would be a great feature if it couldn’t be used for gimmicky things like that, but there’s not really away to impliment that.

Basically that. I was trying to avoid saying that, but yes, that would be the one valid reason they’d have for not doing it. Still need a resign option for pointless fights though.
Maybe a Resign button activates if certain point spreads are met? Such as if one team is 300 points ahead or something? That’s a lot of lost time if the opposing team wants to wait around, and they’d have to do it unanimously.

We’re not talking hotjoin are we? And how many points does one get on resignation? I’m thinking they could implement whatever checks and balances they had in the original GW1.
im talk about normal arena hotjoin is now pretty big exploitable by rank farming

Or how about the game just ends automatically instead?

I’ve got to admit I read the title as: ADD Resign/surrender for pvp
Where ADD stood for Attention Deficit Disorder, which I suffer from (thus the connection)
And yes, my ADD has caused me to “resign” when things get hopeless.
EU Scrub
Don’t think this is feasible. Matches are relatively short as is, and you’d need at least 3 out of 5 votes to end one. It would also be practical to disallow a surrender vote until a specific time has passed. Usually when a match is truly hopeless people just afk or run around aimlessly until it’s over, which usually isn’t a very long time.

When you are in a team with terrible players fighting against Esport players, then matches become pretty long.

The check and balances added up to threatening to ban players, it never actually stopped, red resign day. That is why it is not in guild wars 2, yet. It should be, but if players are so desperate for rank points that they are willing to do skyhammer, I really doubt they will not abuse this.
ANet shouldn’t add a resign button. The real problem is that people feel a match is over, which is true currently.
Conquest lacks comeback systems for unbalanced matches. Legacy has Lord, but is too snowbally. Temple has the most comeback mechanics in the forms of Tranquility and Stillness, which spawn multiple times.
In my opinion comeback mechanics not feeling impactful in matches that feel out of reach is the real issue, combined with matchmaking.
Simply put, not one wants to be put in matches where they feel dominated. I think this may even be relevant at the peak of the NA and EU competitive scenes, which could be part of why we only think of 3 teams potentially being the best in the world.

Ehh.. Resign/surrender in hotjoin? What about just leave the server and join another? xD

Outrotating a team can take you into incredible comebacks, a 150 points comeback is not a new thing to anyone who plays PvP usually, and without the map “core mechanics”
If your team sucks major D’s just leave or afk at base if you care about the reward trac.k.
And people cant report you anyway. Anet will never bann anybody for afking. I still dont know why people spamm ‘’report afk’’ when nothing will happen lol
No. Try harder. Tired of people that give up as soon as they get behind by 50 points.

I give up after the enemy team has a 100 – 150 lead, by that point, they pretty much will win unless they make a big mistake or one of their team disconnects.
Comebacks can happen, but they’re too rare to be worth trying for.
Yes for this idea with the following adjustments:
The resign button should be available only if the winning team has already scored at least 300 points and has 150+ point lead. If three or more players vote “resign”, the match ends immediately as a loss. Without these adjustments the resign feature could be abused to farm rank points + reward track.

They’re really not that rare. I’ve come back from deficits that large many times.
If a match is that skewed that you deem it hopeless, then the match won’t take long to end anyway. They’re at 300 and you’re at 150? Still possible for a comeback but even if you’re getting dominated, they’ll likely 3 cap and it’ll be over in a couple of minutes.
Adding the resign would cause too many issues just to save 2 or 3 minutes.
Resigning in the first 30 seconds when you only have 4 people would be ok but only then.
