So really pleased with the update…..

‘Skill bars now have team-colored backgrounds in sPvP’ – Going to make my experience in pvp so much better, who needs new game types when you have pretty colours.

Temple of the Silent Storm Week – As much as having a extra map in Paid tournaments is lovely…. why?

As much as we love having pretty colours and ‘Polish visuals’( What the hell is this?). We would like content, not tweaking.

PvP is being neglected and people are leaving because of it – “Making the game better for new players” There will only be new players left.

Please comment your views below on this AMAZING Update!

Regardless if that’s been stated or not…..it’s is now completely obvious they DO NOT hold PVP in the same light as PVE. That is a fact.

If you’re not having any fun with the current game as it is, you can always come back in half a year. I’m sure a lot of huge pvp changes have been implemmented by then.

Outside of that, it’s worth checking out what this update brings: the new paid matches, and (in a few days) the daily acchievement prizes (IF they were ever changed – I’m not sure if they were).

I have not said: “wait till next month”. I have said that devs have promised for next month. Of course, if nothing happens by then, then it’s fair that we’ll complaint a lot about it.

Well judging how they hold pvp in such a low regard I would say that’s about the amount of time it would take before we saw enough meaningful updates.

It’s Feb in 2 days.

Sometime in the month of febuary. so the next 30 days.

So I’m going to be wowed?

Who the heck knows. might be terrible. But, nobody should be suprised no big pvp changes (to balance etc) when they said specifically this patch would not have that.

Why would I do that ? I kittening paid for this game, I deserve the same attention as PVE players, this game was so hyped, ANET themselves said PvP was gonna be awesome esports etc, I bought the game with the hope of having GOOD PvP which I didn’t get, so I call this false advertisment.

So yeah, before gw2 I never played in a anet dev’d game yet, and this is a huge disappointment

Right now, and I’m sure alot of people will agree with this, the PvP part of this game is barely a Beta, not even to be honest, lacks so much content and so bugged that it’s awful.

Haha, not going to happen really. They also promised a lot of features we still havent got in the beta. ANet hasnt figured out a way to make money out of PVP, so dont expect anything ground breaking.

Case and point, Engies flamethrower misses a lot, and its been that way since release (cannot speak for beta), still broken now. Many more examples of long standing problems, some of which we were told would be fixed for release. Still nothing….

Sadly, and I think I speak for many PVPers here, the sad reality is that this game, and its PVP, are slipping into little more than an afterthought.

PvE players are very happy i guess.

I thought i was buying a PvP oriented game with e-sports potential, but i guess i got fooled and bought another PvE game and honestly there are allot better PvE MMO’s out there so…

PvP players got mini minor insignificant fixes, a tournament in the map everyone skips (but for some odd reason A-net Loves and is FORCING us to play in it) and colored skill bars…. i mean REALLY?! E-Sports?! PvP oriented game my cats…

ok then… back to the ONLY (boring to death) sandbox pvp mode we have, capture the point bunker fest for 2 more month until something new come out… E-Sports?! we barely have 10-15 spvp maps up at once and NO tournaments at all…. E-sport game needs players and it is not by adding PvE content that A-net will bring more PvP players to the game, thats for sure!

ATM I’m in my 3rd guild, the previous 2 moved to a new MMO, and my RL friends are playing DOTA and TERA waiting for this patch… I’m on TS with them and they are laughing at me cuz im the only one still playing GW2. -_-’ (they are not coming back…)

Because sPvP is obviously fine as it is!

Right now, and I’m sure alot of people will agree with this, the PvP part of this game is barely a Beta, not even to be honest, lacks so much content and so bugged that it’s awful.

Although i don`t share the intensity of your outrage, i concur with all the points stated in your comment. All my good will that goes with A-net`s B2P model is slowly running out because:
- PvE covers at least 80 percent of this game
- absolutely no synergy between pve and pvp: farm a set for what? i can`t take it with me in spvp and WvW is simply unplayable for ppl that hold 1 v 1 fights or even small group pvp in highest regards
- sPVP has ONE mode. I would have loved a type of 1 player vs another one with the bulk of the points gained by killing your opponent as well as some minor objectives (pick an item, kill a mob) for fewer points. AION had this, it was the ONLY perfect and enjoyable form of pvp in that game.
- WvW is simply a large scale sPvP continuous event. Would have loved kinda like an instanced map roughly the same size as a WvW where no more than 5 people, retaining their gear, UNGROUPED from each server get ported. A variety of mobs with increased drop rates to get the incentive to farm going, but as well as keeping your senses alert for roaming enemies. Add random timed events with a couple of gem rewards to make your mouth water. BOOM pve, pvp, group pvp if u want it and lack of zergs in one. And instanced to make it cheaper and easier to manage. I understand the live and let live mentality of no open world pvp if UNDER lvl 80. But an instance with that would be the kitten for end game. Would let you breath and get 1 v 1s making you WAY better at your class. Man am i gonna be flamed for this…

It’s not your timeline. It’s theirs; if they can survive without subs there’s definitely loopholes/optimization in their marketing strategy.

And when I said optimization, I mean trading time for money. This is just how the industry is…. I think many of the players here need to be more aware of that.

Anet’s thinking process = / = Game Industry, Anet thinking process = Entertainment Industry.

Why else do you guys think they have a “feedback forum”? You honestly think they care about feedback, or is it that it’s helping them do work that they would have need to do otherwise?

yes! some will, the ones that cant find anything else to play.

Omg, the whine. You guys act as if there are hundreds of MMO’s out there that have involvement with what many call esports. Hell, esports revolves around RTS’s/Shooters and now MOBA’s anyway.

It’s gonna take time getting there. Not many MMO’s have even launched with arena style combat. Guild Wars had arenas, but GvG was where iit was at. I don’t think anyone wants to watch conquest anyway. For that matter, flat arena combat is boring imo, complex objectives pitting teams against each other is what I want.

As far as WvW being about the zerg, well, um…yes. It’s war. What did you think would happen. With no airplanes and tanks, large groups tend to clash with each other in wars. It’s true even in our own true history.

I know WvW could be better and have more going on, but the bigger picture isn’t the pvp in those maps, the bigger picture is realm pride and doing your part for your weeks cause. Taking camps, killing yaks, catapulting walls. Not many MMO’s even have sieging. I think L2/DAoC and Warhammer were most notable iterations, but beyond that…very few triple A MMO’s have had it so…

I’m no white knight here. I just see beyond my own fabricated little world, a place where 5pvp maps + essentially 2large scale maps in a newly launched title is actually more than what most titles come with.

And I didn’t even bring up WoW. I have been there for the launch of pretty much every MMO that anyone talks about or has ever talked about and a plethora of niche MMO’s that get virtually no attention from the masses. I been through 2wars and countless tours outconus, so I even know a little about real pvp.

I feel somewhat shortchanged by what I thought would be the be all-end all patch of the year.. I’m guessing the pvp patch is not too far off but they could not implement both huge patches as I’m sure they’re on a much tighter schedule as far as developing the living story(Monthly Events) of the game.

This was for sure a massive (1.3gb)patch, you can tell the devs really care about their product, and while I feel my favorite part of the game was largely ignored I’m not gonna give up hope that the devs haven’t forgotten about sPVP…

Havent played this game for a month, but i pop in every now and then to check for patches…. and having read the latest update, I’m glad i havent wasted my time.

See you in Feb/Mar, maybe.

I never said zerg’s didn’t lose to better tactics throughout history, there are plenty examples of each side of that coin, I merely meant you’ve seen it throughout the real world, why wouldn’t you seen it in a fantasy world being played by humans?

Why are people surprised when there was little done with s/tPvP this month? ArenaNet even said that this was going to be a very small release compared to what is coming in February and March, especially on the PvP front. I’m as upset about the lack of PvP content as the next person, but lets use common sense people and stop frothing from the mouth just because this patch isn’t the saving grace we needed (it wasn’t supposed to be). However, I was expecting a lot more done with class balancing, admittedly.
