Hello everyone, my name is Morfeus. I would love for a dev to just read what I have to say about the problem with gw2 currently that no one else seems to state and Anet has yet to admit.
ANET:
Your biggest problem with your game, which I do not know if you have seen or don’t realize or just don’t want to state it publicly, is that from day one, you did not allow the crossover with PvE characters to PvP. The reason I say this is because this leads to so many reasons as to why your PvP side does not flourish as well as your PvE/WvW side and why people also get bored. To get in more depth I will list the reasons in order as to why this mechanic you have put into the game from day 1 is bad;
REASON # 1
You basically make people make a choice when it comes to your game. Its either you invest your time in PvE or PvP. And Based on this you separate the community greatly.
REASON # 2
Because of the first reason, most people will choose what is best to invest their time in. PvE has so much more going for it its not even funny. You can get legendaries, WvW in your gear that you invest countless time getting, customize your stats for more theory crafting, and it feels as if you are working towards something, etc….
REASON # 3
But then when they feel as if they are done with their PvE experience, you would think they would go to PvP right? That is not the case at all. Anet, because you don’t allow PvE characters to migrate to PvP with the stuff they invested their time in, a lot of times they feel when they do go to PvP, its a waste of time. The incentive to PvP is not their for anyone if you didn’t invest your time to PvE to begin with. They go into PvP with no gear and no reason to grind because rank doesn’t mean anything and the rewards are not rewarding. I have never in my life seen a game that gives u so many useless rewards for winning.
REASON # 4
Another issue you have with the crossover is the fact that you for one did not allow skins to be used in PvP from day one. So a lot of people have expensive or exclusive skins are only on their PvE side of their character. Also, with new skins/tickets which are absurdly ridiculous to obtain from bl chests, you require people to get 2 in order to get them for pve AND pvp? Most people that are sane will use it on their PvE character, which leads to more reason as to why people wont even touch PvP. They spend money/gold on gems to get those tickets yet you force them to pick/choose. Some people have spent countless hours farming the new skins that have come from Flame and Frost and when they finally get them and use them on their pve character to look cooler. So why in their right mind would they want to go to pvp when it offers no incentive to begin with to go there.
REASON # 5
As much as I have talked about PvE players not wanting to go to PvP, its the same vice versa. Why would those who’ve spent countless hours grinding to rank 50 and 60 go to PvE? No one likes looking like a noob especially when they’ve been playing the game for so long already. Why should they. The one thing that was good for pvp players that allowed them to get gold for PvPing and buying stuff from gem store and for PvE, you took away……..So now there are no incentives at all. Pv kitten tale already and when they get bored of it, they don’t want to crossover because they don’t want to or dont want to start from scratch after playing a year already and just quit. This explains your PvP community today.
I could go on about how big of a mistake this was and the fact that their are still no incentives to PvP, but hopefully you guys will talk to us about what you have in mind about fixing it. I am a PvP player that enjoys both sides and have many friends from both sides. I know that this is the case because a lot of these issues I brought up are what people have told me. Legendaries/Gold/Gaining nothing from PvP are all reasons they don’t PvP. If you can fix that Anet then I feel people wouldn’t feel as bored as they get sometimes. All I ask is you fix this problem and things can start looking up hill.
