So I did take a 3-4 month break before Heart of Thorns and enjoyed playing PvP before and so I decided to playing some PvP to get myself used to the game again but when I started playing the game again I noticed that I was constantly getting killed by 2-3 hits I said to myself maybe my builds kind of become squish maybe I should upgrade my defensive stats and in the final form I was running Knight Amulet with Hoelbrak Runes and Iron Blooded Trait(%2 percent damage reduction per Boon) and then happened my breaking point I started a fight with a Necro (Reaper) and I killed by 2 maybe 3 hits while having 7 diffrent boon (One of them being Protection) with 3K Armor. Ok I’m not a very skilled player I know it so I decided to look at to forums so maybe I can understand what’s going on and I saw that almost everybody is displeased with new “Meta” some complain about druids can’t be killed but most people will complain about samething as me “Damage”. Yes there was always complaining about some builds were OP but I was never this much effected by it hell sometimes I played some fun builds and they kind of worked out as well but right now I don’t know what to play except Reapers , DH , Druids and some other one-hit kill builds

So as for my question am I imaging things ( I hope I am) or is it really all DPS meta kind of thing because if it’s I’m gonna quit PvP’ing until a big change comes to Meta again :/

1) Sentence breaks are good. Line breaks are also very good.

2) There is no meta yet. An entire xpac full of new builds just dropped less than a week ago.

In this game defense and armor stats are just useless. If you want to be tanky, then make your build with dodges/invurl/blocks and blinds/heavy cc.

passives wont save you if you’re a hungry hungry hippo. run the meta elixer soldier build, not knights if you want some sustain. knights and iron blooded is not a good combo. HGH soldiers is still strong, can for sure hold it’s own in the meta.

True in PvE, false in PvP.

It sounds like you are playing engi. I would agree with the previous post, iron blooded is something I used to run but it’s better to run HGH for the added power/condition damage. The other thing, is that most of the damage now is AOE based. Dragon Hunter traps, ranger traps, ele fields (still old), chronomancer wells, necro wells. You need to be aware of your positioning more than you used to. Go soldier engi unless you know how to play a good bunker engi. There is a DPS creep since patch so traits that get you a high protection up time will help too.

Since patch, I have won most of my engi games but I play celestial bunker engi. The key to bunker is to dodge through traps (if you are playing against a ranger/dragon hunter) and to not stand in wells. If you are getting hit, look at your combat log. See where the damage is from. Also, have good condi clear.

well I was using Celestial Kit version for a while so I’m not familiar with builds right now :/

getting good at just running over the edge of the trap to activate it is something I recommended. you are out of the AOE by the time the animation activates.

I’ve been running cele scrapper with pack runes, H TK Egun S Mortar. few builds give me much trouble, except for those minstrel druids. goodness those things don’t die easy.
