I bought an EU account to try playing over there… well, not much playing to be done when my ping is literally in the thousands (3-5 seconds on skill activation). Rubberbanding. DCing to character selection screen. Skipping movement. Extremely fast movement as all my skills activate at once, etc.

The game is literally unplayable for me on EU, I try every couple of weeks and I usually end up just logging out mid match because I can’t use any skill, and the only thing that works is my character WASD movement. The funny thing is that I usually test my lag in the HotM before I queue, and it’s not that bad at all.

What is the deal with this lag? It can’t be just because I’m from NA that it lags like this. I’ve seen other NA players play on EU with little to no lag whatsoever.

try using 3rd party software like battle ping to help lower your ping, I’ve heard that helps. never really tried since I’m too poor to buy an EU account

First run a ping test to another random non-gw2 server in Germany (I think the EU servers are housed there?).

Always worth doing a few basic diagnostics to see if you encounter the problem before ANet’s servers.

It’s not just because you’re from NA, this is what EU players have to deal with almost every day.

Welcome to EU servers. Don’t bother checking anything, this is normal. Turn down every setting you can and it might help.

eu servers are located in frankfurt, when i did tracert during lag i still had 22 ms….so no idea where lag comes from when it happens

No lags, rather some random DCs, but I haven’t any in few days.
So lately – perfect performance.
