Academy Gaming is now hosting the EU tournament, formally known as the Tournament of the Gods. This tournament will vary slightly from the NA Academy Gaming tournament, but holds the same purpose.

This tournament will be ran by the same staff. Just want to give a warm welcome to the EU side!

Notable differences:

• Max 8 teams
• Hosted every other Saturday (at this current time)
• Different signup and stream links

This is understandable and something we’ve already been taking into consideration. It for sure won’t be in next week, but possibly the one after.

This upcoming Monday, March 16th, the AG tournament will not be allowing free agents and have a max of 8 teams. It will also NOT be streamed. I will be away.

This is being ran by my admins this upcoming week.

Excited to announce that our EU tournaments will be hosted on every Monday! This is a change from the previous schedule which was every other Saturday. They are opened up for more than 8 teams as well. Hope to see people there!

The criteria that players must match in order to participate has been substantially changed for future tournaments. Rulings:

Criteria For Who CANNOT Participate

• Players that have placed 1st or 2nd in the previous week’s AspectGG cup are not allowed to participate
• Players that have won a series (best of 3) in the previous week’s ESL cup (meaning you won a round vs a team) are not allowed to participate
• Players that have placed 1st through 4th in that previous weeks ESL cup (applies if there were to be 7 or less teams in that cup) are not allowed to participate; this rule is meaningless if at least 8 teams played in the previous week’s ESL cup
• If a player is deemed as “over qualified” and still meets the criteria, they will be allowed to participate as a free agent

After this week’s cup events took place, I have decided to have more tangible restrictions as to who can participate, ultimately opening up the opportunities for new teams and players to play and restricting higher tier players to other tournaments.

The next tournament will be this Monday, April 13th. We are in the process of moving our sign-up page and will be updating that within the next day or two. Come back to this thread for updates on it.

Hello, I have one complaint about EU Academy gaming. How come it doesn’t have Free agents in it? I find it difficult to participate in EU Academy Gaming because I have no team in EU.

I went with a friend of mine to test the EU meta as it is quite interesting and different from NA meta. I want to join the Academy Gaming, as the name suggests, to experience their rotations and builds and playstyles to just generally improve as a player and have fun. However, I don’t want to farm gems from EU and NA so I am only doing this purely for experience…and signing up as a free agent with potentially 3/4 pugs will most likely not effect the top 2 winners of the tournament and I will have a fun time experiencing the EU meta…and having free agent will really help me achieve that .

EU free agency is in the works but isn’t out just yet. We’ve got new technology to test out this upcoming week for our tournament to go in a very smooth manner. After that, we will look deeper into FA.

Just wanted to make a post to convey my disappointment with this tournament. Two weeks in a row now my team as been denied a spot in participating in the Monday night competition. First time we were all signed up and ready to go (3 out of 5 of our players having taken work time off to make it) when we relieved a whisper sayings we could not participate due to a “miscommunication”. Being very discouraged we proceeded to whisper storm to ask if there was any way to for us in, but found the admins to be extremely unaccommodating despite the “miscommunication” which was admittedly on their side of things. Thus we didn’t get to play and we accepted that but decided to sign up for the next one (tomorrow’s). Again, we signed up, everyone tried to work their real life schedules around participating in the tourney, but then received a notification the night before that, again, we would not be able to play in it.

And so I believe that there needs to be some way of telling instantaneously upon signing up wether or not the tournament is full or not. Looking at the signup page, there is absolutely no indication of how many teams have signed up, which, in contrast to the go4gw2 ESL cups signup page, is terribly misleading.

All and all I feel that this tournament is put together in a very unprofessional manor. And, as such I can simply refrain from participating. BUT, this tournament does count for seeding points in the upcoming ToL. So it presents a conflict as how our team can obtain seeding in a lower-medium level setting without participating in the AG weekly.

Your team had signed up for the EU weekly. By the time you had signed up for NA the tournament was full (16 teams). I had already told the other teams they were getting a spot by the time that it had came to my attention that your team signed up for EU.

This week we hit 16 teams on Friday. Your team signed up on Sunday. Tournament spots come on a first-come, first-served basis.

Teams are able to sign up for multiple weeks in advance. It looks like you have already signed up for next week along with 6 other teams.

I can confirm that for at least one of these weeks you had signed up for the EU tourney instead of the NA tourney.

Conveniently that titbit of information appears to be missing from your post.

It’s good to see that you’ve signed up for future tournaments however, and getting in there early to guarantee your place is really the way to go.

With the speed we’re growing (especially on NA, EU is still a little bit behind growth wise) it’s not going to be viable to be signing up last minute anymore because we’re regularly filling up with 2+ days to go.
