The system should default to perfect matchmaking, and then have a button to switch to the current matchmaking.

Perfect matchmaking:
System will wait forever for a good match. It will not give up or relax its restrictions.

Progressive (current) matchmaking:
System will gradually relax restrictions based on how long you’ve been queuing for.

Accelerate my queue! button:
Appears when you are queuing. Has a caption, “sacrifice match quality to reduce wait times”.

I think this is a good solution that will please most players. People who want to wait for a perfect match can do so. People who want a shorter wait will still get a chance for a good match, but the system will gradually give up and match them asap.

I say they have a button that does nothing. It’ll be like pushing the button 100 times when you go to cross the street. Placebo effect ftw.
