I accidentally destroyed my PvP Water Filter but didn’t think much about it until I realized I couldn’t find a new one. I also couldn’t find any internet hits that would explain how to get a new one.

The post below has gone un-answered and I have put in a bug request since I’ve been unable to find an obvious answer.

Does anyone know where/how to get a replacement PvP Water Filter?

Is it possible to create another char and just move it?
Idk is it accountbound or soulbound..I’m not anywhere near my computer so I can’t test it..

Just tried this out. They are soul bound and can not be placed in your PvP Locker.

I received this response to a ticket I made about this problem. Is it honestly impossible to replace this item?

Where/how do I get a replacement PvP Water Filter?

Hmm, this does sound….like something they must have completely overlooked.

Really a shame that this can actually happen, very embarrassing design flaw.

And I can’t believe it’s not possible for a GM to manually give you the item in question, seeing as there doesn’t seem to be any way to get it.

Does anyone know if you can get the water filters as rewards from pvp chests? Or create one in mystic forge? A troublesome workaround, but still, if it works.

There are no armor tokens for water filters on the glory vendors and I’ve had no luck finding a mystic forge recipe.

Missing that armor and more importantly that extra rune puts me at a small disadvantage. Even though it is only a small disadvantage, when you are only a mediocre PvPer like myself you need everything you can get.

Wow now you have a legit excuse not to go in the water for capicorn lucky you lol

I have yet to receive any indication of this problem being addressed. For the time being it’s PvE for me and my main.

I would really like it if I could get some indication that ArenaNet has noticed my blatant attempts at exposing this problem to them. It would be outstanding if it could at least be recognized as an issue and put in a back log to be resolved with a future patch.

This is only a problem on one map, for one point. The aquabreather only gives you like +23 of a state (or something), and is only active when you enter water as far as I know, so… it’s not really a big deal.

You don’t need it to breath underwater and the stats are applied at all times and same goes for the rune you can put on it. To be honest the armor could be considered negligible but the rune is important.

It’s certainly annoying that this item can be destroyed, I agree. This item should not have the destroy option at all considering their is no way to replace it. What’s even more annoying is that ArenaNet is telling you that they cannot replace it either.

That being said…

I think a better question is, how does somebody accidentally destroy it in the first place? Why would you ever drag it off your character window and click destroy, or right click on it and click destroy? I think these are both legitimate questions.

I suppose regardless of how it happened (I’m still curious however), the only fix currently for it is to create another character. If this character was specifically for PvP, you won’t lose anything. Just make sure to bank anything you do want to keep. If you also happen to use this character for PVE then you can still create another character that would be specifically for PvP until ArenaNet creates some sort of real fix for this problem.

I honestly had no legitimate reason to destroy this item. However, ArenaNet has done a great job with their game and it never once occurred to me that I wouldn’t be able to replace this item.

Still no response on whether this has been noticed by anyone in ArenaNet.
Can I please get an some indication that this is a known issue by ArenaNet?

I already pointed out how you can resolve this issue yourself. I even quoted myself to reiterate how to resolve this as well as restating that I believe this item should not have the ability to be destroyed in the first place. As you said, you had no reason for destroying it so the fault clearly falls upon you, doesn’t it?

To say it once again, create a new character and you will have your water filter once again until ArenaNet implements a true fix for this issue.

@Nkrdbl: I know I shouldn’t have deleted it, but that information doesn’t help me much now does it? I am playing another character but I would like to continue sPvP with my main and not resort to wasting a character slot for a second sPvP engineer.

I’d like to address the fault comment as well. Sure it was my fault for destroying it and I feel like a moron. However, don’t you think it’s an odd mechanic for a game that totes sPvP balance allows you to destroy and replace all of your sPvP gear except for one piece? I have faith in ArenaNet and I want to make sure that they are aware of this design gap. Others are experiencing this problem as well, but aren’t receiving responses either.

I don’t think making the item indestructible is a valid solution due to how all other armor pieces are handled. Either make them all indestructible or allow us to re-purchase the sPvP water filter.

You can add a Rune to the Water Filter but it doesn’t add any stats.

Even if you have no armour equipped.

So you’re really not missing out on much by not having it.

Its stats apply underwater only. Jump in the lake.
