I remember when the PvP reward tracks were introduced and there was a huge influx of players entering matches then AFK’ing so they could farm the tracks. Back then I read a thread that we should report them for ‘botting’.

Is this still the correct action?

I don’t see too many of these folks anymore, thank gawd! But when I do, it irritates me that I can’t do anything about it.

Do I still report these mofo’s as botter’s? Or is there something else I can do?

I can’t stand people who give games away because there is one moment they don’ like. It ruins the game for the 4 other people. I can understand that they are anoyed, but DO NOT go AFK.

clearly not gonna be a win for em, but i do agree afk is kittened. i always go get killed so game ends faster, have to think of the other players too, people got kitten to do.

Well, if Anet gave us a proper way of reporting these @holes in game we wouldn’t have to.

If you wanna get infracted/banned, do as you please, I was just warning OP to be careful.

again and again leave game or when starting losing go afk can anet start doing something or this is message you can use exploit/hacking/afking/leaving without any penalty??? same for wvw you see hacker what use teleport/speed and reporting him nothing and after 1 months you see him still hacking

There are some people like Gscorp who die and afk on purpose to destroy games and joke about it, yet there is no proper report option.

If you dont want me to blame people no forum give me an ingame option!

hahahaha i wrote down a handful of players who i saw do this all time and my guildie told me not to blast there names on the forum

I agree, something needs to be done to help prevent these types of trolling.

The complete lack of punishment for this keeps the trollers going on a frequent basis. An “indictment” option would really help to fix the issue, but would need to have limited circumstances in which it could be used, otherwise it would be just the new way of trolling (keep entering games and indicting your teammates)

Way back in the day (over a year ago) Grouch indicated that we should use “botting” when reporting AFKers. No idea if this is still valid, or if anything actually ever happens to reported players. We can haz dev confirmarino pls?

Let’s assume ANET does indeed implement a feature of reporting people that go away from the keyboard. What makes you think that such reports will be even adressed? Right now, there are NUMEROUS people in the game that have been reported for verbal abuse, and keep doing exactly that ….

The ONLY viable option is “block”. ANET does not care for anything else.

And now I bet they will ban me from the forums for a couple of days because i write negative things about them, lol

afking is a scam. But best chance for ban is reporting also for botting.

Just throwing out ideas (good or bad):

If someone DC’s in the middle of a match and is gone for greater than 45 seconds (or some period of time), someone in the que gets a “volunteer” button which allows them to fill in. Alternatively, a “stand down button” could work too: if the opposing team is down a man, a button appears on my screen to “stand down,” and if I click it, I am made a spectator (and the match a 4v4) until the DC’d person comes back. These matches would still affect your win/loss stats, but you could be rewarded with ~5 PvP Fallen Hero Chests or something for complying.

punish leavers and afk’ers, it’s as simple as that.

I’ve played probably 10 matches today and at least half of them were 4v5 or worse for a majority of the game. And it wasn’t much better in the last 1000 games since I came back a few months ago either.

-> if you’re afk for more than 60 seconds, you’re out and considered a leaver.

→ disconnects have 120 seconds to reconnect or they’re out and considered a leaver.

-> leavers are banned for an amount of time from ranked/unranked.

Ist the 2nd time now in two games that in my team theres one player, who doesn’t connect to the pvp game anf before start, he DC’s. Hes Online the whole game, u can whisper him, bit he didnt join the game.

Is there anything besides reporting (Abuse LFG tool in my opinion) you can do against this? In most cases a 4vs5 game is a lost game and ist not fun to lose with <20 Points cause of this and all ppl resign, cause its no fun.

I solo queued 4 games today. 3 of them were 4v5s. One of them was someone who akitten, and came back right before the enemy team won.

So I asked him what happened and why he did this, since he screwed us over. He told me he had an urgent need to go to the bathroom. Im not sure if he was trolling or not, but I was really kittened since his excise was so infuriating.

I’m not really sure what anet can do to fix this. Sometimes people innocently DC and nothing can be done. Sometimes people screw everyone over with lame excuses like the one I got today. Heh.

I suppose he should of gone in his pants so you can win your game. XD

there is a issue with people just afking in matches after they think they have lost but since they don’t leave they don’t get the debuff that makes them not join in matches for a while. this is a broken mechanic and really needs fixing. since most of them never leave spawn after they have died once. maybe expand the leave match to not leaving spawn for one min or not having been in combat/ used skills for a set amount of time. or give us a actual report option instead of having to report them for botting. the current system doesn’t discourage AFK ing at the slightest. it really is something that i would like to see fixed in HOT but rather earlier then later.

Have to agree, you run tino Ele+Ele+Mesmer+Thief, aka half the teams, and broken builds make it just not fun.

You lose 100% of the matches you don’t play. “Broken builds” or not, there’s no excuse for AFK.

Lol has a punishing system for afker, they still afk, balance would fix it, this wont.

it would however discourage more ea/if they don’t play they don’t get reward/progress on tracks AND they get the debuff that leaving gives you now.
this would atleast fix the issue where you get the same kitten scrub that gives up after he died that you atleast wont get him next match.

i almost won a 4v5 yesterday. we had a ~100 point lead until the end when they killed our lord (our lord rush failed due to 4v5). that goes to show if you play hard and well you can really turn things around.

afk’ers won’t get the practice they need to be in games that don’t go to kitten, and to be able to turn it around when they do. they need to suck it up. it’s like golf, don’t focus on winning, focus on trying to improve your play. that will help you win more in the long run.

anet should implement dishonor, and a second de-buff to reward track progress for a longer period of time.

I have already reported on this issue numerous times, within the pvp community you have two groups of people.

1) Don’t fix this issue until the game is “balanced” since it’s unfair to force to play.
2) Fix this now

Hopefully, I will have some feed back on this issue soon…if not hopefully it will be addressed by one of the developers.

Although i dont mean to point out any players, this player seen in the screen shot decided that from a dispute in a previous game, to spam 1 instead of fighting.

Either we need an AFK report button and they get dishonored and prevented from playing unranked/ranked for a X amount of time or a mandatory factor into team matchmaking is blocked players cannot be on the same team.

And if there is any dispute he is actually afking, I took the picture with the 1 on staff to be casted in mid air, i wish i could post a video to show he did it the entire time.

Again, this picture is supposed to show what people to to AFK, not just DC. Please instal an AFK/report button and please give that player dishonored if they see it suitable.Even if it’s based on chat like most of the reports in gw2, it wa evident that he was AFK with the lines of conversation due to the 4v5 and no point in trying.

This is qualifies as name-and-shame, and your topic will be deleted and you will receive infraction if you do not remove that image from your post. That said, you are welcome to re-upload the image with the character’s name edited out of it.

I believe the advisement is to report under “LFG System Abuse”.

I have reported on this feature before, Hoping to hear something some time soon…

In the mean time, one of the developers (forgot who) suggested that for Idling and refusal to play, you should report them as LFG abuse.

Report? There was a topic like a week ago or so in the forum where some1 actually recorded a conversation on video where the player explains that he afk out each and every match on purpose and even telling it to the team, so they can report him.

Why you would ask? To prove that ANet does not care with reports and that peep did this over hundreds of matchs got who knows how many reports he got and still unpunished.

This problem is here since launch.

Put together a PVP pool guild. Anet is probably ignoring all of the “wahh he made us lose ban him” because they have other more important things to do.

tbh, i never was like ths…hated afkers in unranked matches, but now if I see 2 mesmer on enemy team I quit too. mesmer is 500% totally ruining the game…free facetanks vs every burst every 9.5 sec, perma stealth, best mobility in game and capable of bursting any spec to 0% hp in less then 1.5 sec. im done with it. it’s not players fault they go afk…it’s anet…mesmer needs hardcore damage nerfs more then measly 17% it’s pretty close to 60% nerf that is required….why? cause now they 14k+ burst a 3200 armored spec…mesmer is ruining gw2 hardcore. mind stab radius needs be 130….240 is way to big for such ranged spam

Yeah ive seen people just go afk cause someone picks courtyard and we get it.

I think the main problem is that everyone is just so frustrated with pvp now (unbalanced builds, unfair match ups, constant patches with Buffs/nerfs that no one wants) that the whole scene has just turned it a mess.

A lot of people comment something like “I was never like that but now if I see X in a fight im not guna bother”.

So I think basically for any of this stuff to improve I think we need to address all the major under lying issues first so that people start caring about the pvp game type first, because at the moment nobody really cares anymore and matches aren’t taken seriously.

afker or not; i say just play. be a gamer; relish the 3v5 everytime you come out home. Get better; CARRY harder…

Not trolling; i agree it should be fixed…but they aren’t truly afkg…just quitting. they take their kickball and go home because they do not like to lose…we should give the afkers a medal. and free food. maybe some cash. help them pay for heat/electricity. buy their home also. let them get fat.

I dont like the AFKers either but i also dont agree that they should be banned but they should get penalized in some way or other. Maybe make them have a game deficit where their pvp track progression doesnt “Progress” for one game for each AFK game?

Dont know how that would be implemented but that would really hit them where it hurts.

But also that would just shift players to do what you said above. Which is just to run out and suicide. That would not trigger any afk checking routines.

I go afk when at the beginning of the game my entire team wipe and in 1 minutes the score goes to 100 (enemy team) x 0 (my team) or if i’m being zerged non-stop or if there isn’t any communication or if the enemy team is a premade that can roflstomp all my team non-stop. I don’t find it fun to be slaughtered by people who have 5000000 hours in PvP, do you?

And there is nothing you can do to stop me.

You missing the point, you should go home with them, and then afk, reward guaranteed.
