Matchmaking is still a mess. When it’s pug vs pug, honestly the matches tonight have been pretty good… too bad those are only about 25% of my games.

If there are still going to be a lot of these blow out 100 to 500 games, can you please add a surrender button? I mean seriously, when it’s 300 to 50 i think we know how it’s going to turn out. Why make us sit through another 200 points of misery. Please let the premade that is stomping my team move on to another pug.

OHHHHH come on just finish the match. Its already 1/2 over so just spend the next 3-5 minutes practicing team fights and decapping/capping points from opponents.

I extremely agree with this suggestion, You should be allowed to vote a (gg)tap-out as you can in other competitive arenas like Starcraft or League of Legends.

I only have an issue when its 4 v 5. In that scenario, yes, give me a surrender. Even better if its one without a loss. Just have it pop up if a player is afk for 3 minutes or so.

If I surrender do I get half my bet back?

I could see people trying with troll this. How about you have to be behind to use it (I know common sense but still needs to be mentioned), you have to be 150+ points behind, and the other team has to be above the 300 point mark. I think something like this would ensure that abuse would not happen. There should probably be some penalty for over using it….maybe.

They already have a surrender button, it’s just a bit hidden:

Start menu
Control Panel
Programs and features
Select Guild Wars 2
Uninstall

All joking aside though, there’s just too high a potential for abuse.
Keep playing, get your practice in, maybe tweak your build and test some random things out.

Not sure why people are worried about abuse. I’m not suggesting one person clicks surrender and the whole game is over. It would be a voting system where either 3, 4, or everyone has to click agree. I think what kind of majority you need is what could be up for debate.

I’m even fine with the suggestion that you can’t surrender too early or unless the score is too far apart. I think league of legends there is a 5 minute cutoff or something where you at least need to try for that long.

I really hated the /resign function in GW1 you would get team members pressuring you to resign if the game started off badly, you would get abuse if you tried to keep playing. I don’t want to see that here as well.

I think there’s a huge difference between sports and casual games. If you’re an ESL player and this is your job, maybe you should stay, you’re getting paid to. If someone is playing casually for fun, it’s a matter of efficiency. Video games are a competitive marketplace where companies compete for our time. If people think a surrender button will make Guild Wars 2 a better game, on par with Starcraft and League of Legends, maybe it’s something Anet should consider. LOL and Starcraft are obviously doing something right since their player base dwarfs GW2.

And maybe you can explain how surrender is worse than the leavers in hotjoin? If everyone on a team agrees to give up, everyone as a team gets to move on. In hotjoin people leave the match when they’re down by 20 which almost guarantees a loss because now it’s 4 v 5.

If your a casual player just finish the match. Nothing you say makes sense and if you like those games better, go play them. Playing hot join is for fun anyways and you seem to be really worried about wins/losses for someone complaining about fun casual games. Here are some base reasons not to have this button

4-Not giving quitters and cry babies a reason to quit int he first place. I have had some epic comebacks and epic losses and if we had this stupid button they would of never happened. I dont need loudmouth players having a option to quit simply cause it doesnt look good cause when its a 5 vs 5 conquest things change quickly especially with maps like legacy and temple.

ive been in my fair share of one sided matches where its 300/100 against me….i hate it but i still continue to fight. Maybe when it gets to 470/300 and i just got stomped i may end up just sitting at spawn (go grab a drink) but other than that i keep fighting and trying to learn.

Sorry but I disagree with this attitude. If I have say 45 minutes to play PvP, that’s about 2-3 matches if Queue Depth is low. Otherwise it’s 2 matches. If, in those 2 matches I get someone who DC’s then I have to sit through an unbalanced match for the remainder of the time. My time is actually worth something and having a balanced match is critical to playing this game. You may not care about balance but others do. To say that their opinions are not valid because a small percentage of the time the team with 4 can beat the team with 5 is silly.

There should be a way for you to leave the match if other people have DC’d so you can queue again. It’s a waste of people’s time to continue playing a unbalanced games.

When everyone on the other team is repping the same guild tag is the most obvoius way.

So to recap your points:

1. You know what is best for everyone
2. You have no respect for other people’s time as long as you’re having fun
3. Go in hotjoin if you want to play an unbalanced match. Hotjoin is full of them.
4. Please send me a youtube clip of a 300+ point comeback on a map other than LOF

I really think the bottom line is that, unfortunately, I’m an adult. I’m not in college or high school anymore. I don’t have time to play for 5 or 6 hours a day and screw around in a bunch of imbalanced games that matchmaking shouldn’t have done in the first place. I really don’t mind losing. I would rather lose 10 games in a row when the score is 400 to 500 than win 10 games 500 to 100.

I never said it should be one person hits surrender and all is lost. I think it should be a vote. Even if it was 4/5 people voting one way, I’d be fine with that. Not sure why you’re scared of democracy…

Can’t do it the final score effects your MMR. Better off to struggle on and try to score as many points as possible.

The whole point of a resign option is because people don’t want to waste time, it is why in golf you can concede the hole, in snooker concede a frame, in chess concede that match, etc.

You like fighting 4 vs 5 for couple of mins? Just dont /resign then and you will block your group in the match.

every srs pvp game has this. this is why hey are srs pvp games.

Instead of surrendering, how about ANet add a way to end the game faster.

If a team is 200 points ahead, the game ends immediately. This way, I don’t have to sit in spawn waiting for that troll teammate that won’t resign.

Right click their name on the scoreboard and if it says join party rather than invite to party, they’re in a party.

My argument for that is there one in basketball,football,soccer? Where it consisted of more then 1 player and not only that if people dont want to waste time what are they doing solo queing in PvP.

The frustration i have with people in this game comes from the simple fact they want to quit when it gets hard. Its 5 vs 5 and you should never quit under these circumstances. Wts Orng vs the abjured the Orng were down over 200 pts on legacy and forest and came back to win it.

Ag 36 or 37 Button Mashers were down over 200 pts on temple and came back to win it.

There is 39 Ag tournaments on youtube and many hosted by storm if you wanted to look for yourself. There are plenty of matches with near 300 pt deficits are erased from kylo,temple and forest.

Like ive said before, you want someone to hold your hand and prove it when the answer is right there in front of you but just like in these PvP matches. you really just want a easy way out. Its not a insult but a observationof they way you have acted towards my responses and others who have disagreed with you. Not only that you brought in the argument that you are a adult…… seriously and that your time is more valuable then others who may disagree with you. Like I said before and all my other comments are the reason for not having this button.
