Hotjoins are okay, people coming and going, chasing points, etc.
But after that, having someone leave because of any possible reason is ruining the game experience for everyone else.
So please, can we get the good ol’ “Dishonorable” debuff for quitters? We had problems with it in GW1 too, yes, getting the debuff because of random disconnects, but it’s a risk I’d gladly take over getting 2-3 matches in a row in 4-5 setup because some random dude or dudette didn’t like the map, the team setup or the team colour…

Soooo many sooo maaaaany player leaves a match on purpose that’s almost ridiciulos, dc happens for sure, but 90% of the time when a team not in a winning position?

One can’t just leave un/ranked with the leave button, but you can log of for 3-5 min and get back without losing the “stat”.

Worst in this those acc will display a much better win / game ratio and their overall stats will show the system that they are a good player and in match making they will be considered as a “strong force” and the system will put them in a team where the players are similar on each side, and what you get? 5v4 / 5v3 around 200-120 ~

Hot Join should have a rule too where 4v4 going on and the new player always joins to the team which has the lead, why? Because the system allows it…

I have reported and requested this feature to be re-added a couple of times. To my understanding (not speaking on behalf of anet) there was an issue with it originally and it is being investigated and re-worked.

Why is it that we can’t have some way to stop 4v5 matches? I think that if a match has an uneven number of people for more than 1 minute after the match starting, that the match should immediately end so that people’s time isn’t wasted by fighting an infuriatingly unfair fight.

I’m not exxaerating when I say that 20-25% of all matches I have are 4v5s. HAving people click that they’re there at the start of the match isn’t enough of a fix.

Its demoralizing to be on the outnumbered team so they’ll barely try since they havea huge disadvantage stacked on them from the beginning, and it dosen’t give a true challenge to the full team. Suffering through multiple 4v5s can turn people away from the pvp game mode all together just because it feel so bad. Anet really doesn’t have an excuse for doing SOMETHING, ANYTHING to alleviate this issue.

Why not just a /Resign feature that requires 100% approval from the reaming players, like…. idk Guild Wars 1 ???

Also. Allowing players to do something in between Q is what’s needed to keep player base happy, it’s not only the 4v5 that makes player unhappy, its the 5..10 mins that led to the 4v5, followed by another 5..10 mins of wasting time.

I personally, when I realize it’s a 4v5 in favor of my team, go back/close to spawn and just stand there and wait until it’s a 5v5 again. And I have asked opponents to do the same. Some did, some did not. It is an issue that could be fixed by the community.

That being said, we all know it’s not going to be fixed by the community. There should be something in place, for this issue. For instance the game could track, if players are leaving the match (for whatever reason) when being behind in points. If after some instances there is a certain correlation between being behind and leaving the match, the game could adjust. I am not sure, what kind of adjustment/punishment would be appropriate, but technically it should be possible.

It wouldn’t help in the very situation, but this mechanism, once it is applied, may just prevent people from following that practice.

“Ok afk” – one guy on my team in a losing match. I already +1 the thread but bumping it so it stays around. We need that dishonoured, or other form of punishment for such quitters.

Punisment would be simple from my point of view, dishonored debuff will not let you get any reward or stat or daily from the following 3 match, if you repeat it in the next 3 match extend it to 5 more and to 10 more, until you finaly play down the matches even if you lose…

You think people will actually try to win the games when they won’t be motivated to do anything? Some people would, but those are not the ones who leave.

anet has no idea what they are doing they don’t have a basic feature that punishes people that bail on matches yet they are still trying to push for esports? Don’t even get me started on the non-sense of them making it so you have to be in hotm to queue and can not do anything else while queued. The pvp is still in beta at this point

At the very least, ANET needs to add some additional logic:

A game does not start if it is not 5v5. A number of people quit if they get a map they don’t like before the game even starts.
