Hopefully we will see some real and effective changes to the Warrior class on the whole… and sooner rather than later.

The last changes (buffs) discussed in the last SotG (and then implemented) were entirely lacklustre and it was obvious (to me and undoubtedly many others) that they would not address the core issues which were making Warriors very sub-par in sPvP and moreso in tPvP. I don’t know why ArenaNet are so afraid to make any strong changes to the Warrior class, especially when there are several really powerful classes dominating PvP already, (and have been for some time.)

I’d like to see some radical changes to our class – primarily to our woeful Burst mechanic, then some moves to address our kiting and sustain issues. Like you, Demosthene, I don’t particularly care how these problems are remedied… just do something. Unleash the Warriors!

I think warrior has other problem not just burst dmg, Im playing war only and Im making rly good dmg but the problem is survival. War has only 2 cond remove for 25 sec. If anet add sec heal skill with cond remove, for example:

“Shake it off”

- Break stun,
- Remove 2 cond aoe,
- Healing you for 3-5k hp.

I think it should be enough for begging.

Burst damage was toned by the quickness nerf. After 2 weeks of playing with destruction of the empowered, I feel like you could easily take the gs 10% trait and get flat damage increase without worrying about boons. But, the extra critical damage is nice for going so far into discipline. It is kinda a toss up imo. I would have preferred it not be a grand master trait, since you can increase your own damage with strength trait for 10 points.

It should have been actual boon hate, like ‘crits knock off so much time from all the enemies boons’ or F2’s steal boons.
Not different ‘situational’ tagged on to what otherwise was a rank 1 trait.

Giving retal to the class would have been cool though.
I’ve always thought it should be a warrior boon, especially warrior dps since they go all power heavy, and its wonderful for throwing pressure on someone who is fighting back.

(guardians don’t need retal… like at all)

We don’t need to contribute anymore in the arms race of excessive boons/boon punishment. There already is collateral damage to those professions/builds who have minimal access to important boons. We’re now at the point where we’re trivializing the effectiveness of boons on those professions/builds that don’t have access to huge uptime on boons, but rely on them for their intended purposes.

Would be cool, but with s/d thief having 100% chance to steal boons, it would not solve any problems Warrior has, nor increase his viability.

Imo the base stats warriors have are the reason why they are not viable in tPvP atm.

Not because they are low. In fact, they are too high to justify huge buffs for warriors. Let me explain what I mean:

Highest base HP and toughness in the game => low sustain
Extremly high damage output => unreliable damage

That’s how Anet wanted to balance the warrior but in the end that didn’t work out. While you don’t really need sustain in PvE (dodge + low heals are usually enough) and the damage will hit your target (now reliable instead of unreliable damage), it doesn’t work in PvP.

You need sustain in PvP which would mean less base HP and toughness. You also need reliable damage which would mean less damage output. That’s how the warrior should be balanced in both PvP and PvE. No more god mode for PvE and finally viability for PvP.

Until this happens I can’t really see the warrior being balanced in both parts of the game.

A possible fix for warriors. Would be a mechanic theme focus to make them king of gap closing, much as Anet wants Thieves to be king of evasion/being slippery.

Updating gap closing to weapons would be the area to make this game play change without lazy stat buffs.
