Vials Maize Balm Exploit(Halloween) 2014
Locked out of JP (Wintersday) 2015

How many times do we have to go over the same thing, warrior being melee needs health sustain gap closing AND damage. All four of them, the game being as heavily dominated by ranged and kiting makes any of those missing a crippling blow to the warrior. Ranged has an innate advantage of constant damage, melee gets in does a couple K damage and it becomes yet again a chasing tag game, where he will be receiving constant damage. Having 50% “snare” reduction does not work, kiting and crippling effects on this game, including AOE ones are extremely spamable, gap closer are not.
Dead men hold no points, trying to balance around it is an exercise in futility.

Well youcould be melee setup with gap close skills ona 40 sec cd :P
Seriously though warrior might be viable again.Wait for people to find an effective use of the new traits and a new role for warrior. Its too soon for conclusions to be made imo..wait for a week or so id say.See if top teams find a use for him at the very least.
In hot join and solo warrior will never be the best class anyway based on their philosophy they described
Well, really they don’t need all four of them. The archetypes typically go something like,
Warrior – Immobile, tanky, lots of damage
Rogue – Mobile, squishy, lots of damage
Wizard – Immobile, squishy, lots of ranged damage
But of course, GW2 is more like,
Warrior – Immobile, squishy, okay sustained damage
Rogue – Mobile, squishy, lots of damage
Wizard – Mobile, tanky, lots of damage
Anyways, warriors don’t need to be super mobile and have lots of sustain. Just make them sort of like, passively being very bunkery and doing lots of damage (about the same damage they’re at now). But they could never function as bunkers, since they lack condition removal and active defense + healing. I guess it would be similar to if you took a 100b build and slapped on an additional 700 vitality and toughness or something to it.

In kiting wars this design is simply not viable. They have had 8+ months to prove me wrong and they still fail at it.

I don’t know about that, it’s not hard to get 300-400 points on a warrior in hotjoin.

Why wouldn’t it be viable? Warriors aren’t ever going to be good solo, and this design actually allows them to contribute to team fights without blowing up instantly. Warriors have probably some of the best CC in the game. I can keep immobilize up on a single target with something like 70-80% uptime, and this is with a standard 100B build.

I stand corrected it clearly works and is used by pro players… not.

omg..wait a bit for poeple to adjust .Lol you expect every warrior to figure his kitten out after only 1 day of patch going live..
Warriors are hardly the only melee class (and they’re not even exclusively melee anyway, even if I’m personally not a fan of any of their ranged options).
I guess it’s a matter of opinion but I don’t find Warriors are half as bad as what you’d believe if you took some of the hyperbole in here as gospel. The main issue I had on my War was with being too severely penalized by movement debuffs (which ANet seems to recognize, since they just introduced a trait intending to counter this) and having meh condi removal more generally.
They’ve never needed damage buffs, their output is already very high (which is why I’m somewhat baffled by the new GM trait).
Dunno even without mobile strikes chill – cripple – immobilize barely phase me – signet of stamina, lyssa runes + signet of rage, sword + warhorn as my secondary. Warrior problems exist in getting tunneled into ground, and not being able to deal with damaging conditions.

I use Lyssa runes on the Mes because of the low-ish CD, but it’s never even occurred to me how well they’d work on the War!
Anyways, warriors don’t need to be super mobile and have lots of sustain.
Retal should have been a warrior centric boon, not guardian.
That would have helped ALLOT.
I’m actually quite fond of my warrior build with the new Dogger trait + melandru runes. Running a 0 0 30 30 10 PvT, healing shout build with axe/mace + longbow.
Everyone seems to be forgetting that melee is god strong and king of GW2; it’s just that warriors don’t fill those shoes. It’s eles.
In fact, I’d argue that warriors make terrific ranged fighters, moreso than even ele’s ranged spec. Longbow on warrior is very viable right now. And that sums up the wonderful, whacky world of GW2.

Longbow is certainly strong, but I’m not sure it’s “viable” in high end PvP. Longbow warrior vs. ranger I’d still give it to ranger simply due to pets. Combustion Shot is pretty fantastic though.

Longbow warriors are currently OP in team fights. Once you fighting on the point (which is everyone did in tournies), no other profession’s damage can be compare with us. In other words, dueling and tourny fights are totally different stories for Longbow Warriors.
Take my words.
Anastasis Tactis..
I hoped on after the patch to successfully kill some players, but the skills / recharge rates / boons etc just feel a notch down compared to other classes.
