Allow us to pick our 5/15/25 Traits.

I don’t think that’s necessary. However, a VAST number of minor traits are so bad that it makes their respective lines look unappealing for no other reason, even if some of the majors are decent.
the entire trait system is in need of some serious revision

I agree with you there.

I agree with you there.
I also agree. The game would have been so much better with no trait tree and a pool of skills for each weapon from which players could choose.
Pooling all the 5/15/25 traits into 3 buckets from which you could choose would be a good first step towards giving players more meaningful build choices. Another obvious candidate for improvement would be allowing players to equip another utility in the elite slot as a lot of classes have really crappy elites and/or elites that don’t fit into builds at all.
Instead of being so conservative with changes at this point I’d say it would benefit the game a lot more if bolder changes and balance changes were made more regularly because let’s face it: the ultra slow approach is still producing huge metagame changes and tons of bugs/imbalances are slipping through.

So basically….GW1, agreed, that would be a great step in the right direction.
Theres already so much imbalance in traits, why add more imbalance by letting us chose the minor traits?

Customization, and it would make those im-balance-ness more balanced, because now people with bad traits can pick better ones.

That makes no sense, since the minor traits are all based on the tree they’re in and compliment the theme and/or passives of that tree. Also, why not keep recommendations to a more reasonable level of change to the original design, since something like that would require a complete rebalancing of many classes and is extremely unlikely to happen.

Why can’t i just chose everything I want to take for a certain build? Why are minor traits locked? Why do i see phantasm skills in a shatter tree? Stop making gem store garbage and rework your whole trait system before people get bored of running same things and quit your game.

Agreed, it feels like the game was released early and the developers care more about living story stuff and e-sports and tournaments and not about making the current game-play system and current story fun.

^ doesn’t explain the level of inaction over the past year. IMO the game designers simply think their game design is beyond reproach and that players just don’t “get it”. Meanwhile, in reality land, barely anyone does sPVP and players continue to complain about the same things.
Please let us change our minors.

That would change the entire game balance… I’m not saying it wouldn’t be fun I’m saying it would make the game even harder to balance and it’s a struggle as is. So i vote no.

What Balance?
Currently we are grealy in a condition meta, and have been for quite awile. Currently because of the minor traits, some trees are simply better then others, THAT is an unbalance.

I agree with this, put the 5/15/25 traits into the full trait line list and allow players 6 picks, instead of having 3 ‘forced’ on us…
It would be a massive shot in the arm for the meta and generate loads of new builds for all 8 classes…
Balance would take care of its self with a new (more fun) meta being formed…
Also, lets face facts its not exactly ‘balanced’ atm is it?

None of the current Minors really help the condition nonsense.

Don’t think you understood what I am saying…
Put the 5 one in with the first third of traits…then you get to choose any 2 out of the 1st 1/3, you do not after pick a current 5/10/15 trait, you can have another instead.
Repeat this for the 2nd third and last third.
So, if conditions are a problem for you, this may allow you more options for countering them, depending on what class your playing and the trait line in question.
Its a BIG change but would allow all players more options and be far more fun.
I think one of Anets main reason for the 5/15/25 fixed traits is they purposely ‘dumb down’ GW2 to have a wider appeal with a bigger audience.
Devs have often give the reason, they don’t want to complicate the game for casual gamers.
The nerf to confusion for example happened because it was putting off beginners/casuals who simply didn’t understand why they were dieing from spamming there own skills.

I also could build up my toughness necromancer traits to not be a minionmancer!

Can we have a devs answer to why we don’t have free allocation of traits 1year after game’s release? Is it too much asking for choosing every single trait (minor and major)? Didn’t we have this the first couple of beta weekends? Why did it change? Why do you give use presets when it comes to traits AND amulets? I want to build my own character, not taking your presets.

Because they would rather run the game into the ground than listen to players? It’s obvious they still think their design is brilliant and it’s the players that don’t get it.
Allow us to pick between all our available 5/15/25 traits we have now.
And weapon skills!
I was actually going to suggest the same thing for major traits.
Doesn’t matter what tree you spec in, as long as you have a trait slot open you can pick any trait you want as long as it’s on that Tier.
Like if you have 30 in the Power tree you can pick the tier 3 trait for it from any of the trees. In the end you can only have 7 trait slots, 2 of them being T3 slots, which increase customization which this game desperately needs.

I think they’re strangling the life out of this game trying to make it easy to balance, which was such a terrible idea, and the balance is terrible one year in isn’t it? So where has that gotten them?
The fun level should always be better, how else are you even gonna get a playerbase to support esports?
