I know i have been absent a while .. played in 2012 ;D

But am i the only one that misses the ingame torunaments? :/
Solo/duoq is nice and all .. but somehow there is missing ingamestuff for team competition…

basically what we had in gw1 the daily tournaments with a monthly tournament you had to qualify for.. from what i saw the 5v5 esl and academy tournaments are quite empty :/

+ all of them are single elimination and no swiss system with playoffs or so .. i rly loved that part about the tournaments in gw1 :/

And to answer OP’s question yes, it’d be cool to have, but anet decided that the only way to go esport is to ban teams from the game because that’s key to nurturing a competitive scene LUL

Yes exactly .. its not that we had ingame 3 round tournaments in the beginning of the game .. they were not swiss just single elimination okay .. but still better then having nothing …

I haven’t started playing GW2 at this time but I would love to see ingame tournaments.

Way back there were 3 round automated tournaments. There was a free and a paid entry version. You would pay a cheap gem store item to enter and you would win gems for winning or placing well. These tournaments had a queue time of like 10min.

A lot of teams formed to try to win gems.

There was also an authorized shout caster program where people could cast normal ranked games. There was also a skill based leaderboard.

I wish I could play that game.

There is nothing to help people create competitive teams to get a small chance to ESL PRO League.

Bringing back Auto Tourney would be awesome.
Bringing back ESL Weekly in NA, would be super awesome. Why only EU have the weekly and not NA?

I hope that ESL Weekly for NA salvage the AG staff to give us some weekly competitive events again.

But… having it automate would be pure greatness.

Now… people will complain of being stomp in unranked by premade…

That they removed the Teamque in the ranking system is good imho .. because you dont rly learn anything as a team when you just distroy soloqers that have no comunication…

But 2 easy things Anet can do … implement a team ladder either same system as the solo/duoq just that you have to be 5man premade or a normal elo ladder
And bring back automated ingame tournaments .. also a big pro on that ingame tournaments is .. that ppl that arent that good will try that, but those ppl wont bother to get on a external site like esl or GA and register on a tournament there

Anet are godly when it comes to removing features.

For example they remove:
All the amulets
Ability to queue outside hotm
Solo queue
Team queue
Leaderboards
In game 8 team tournaments
Paid 8 team tournaments
2 team tournaments
Progression – made everyone instantly level because it took too long lol
Queueing ranked pvp as a team now apparently
Skyhammer from ranked
Spirit watch from ranked
The new game mode from ranked
Jewels for amulets

I pity anyone who didnt get the chance to play this game in the first 18 months after launch. It was an amazing game.

What sort of game adds solo queue after a year and then just randomly gets rid of it. Same with leaderboards. It is completely illogical.

Btw you used to sit in hotm and there would be constant pug teams of 5 being formed. This was when there were paid 2 team tournaments for 1 ticket per player. It was amazing. Gw2 has never been so active, there would be 20 teams of decent players queueing each evening.

That is what mmorpgs should be, social experiences. Solo queue era was decent too.

My solution is to have a ranked team queue where you have to queue as five, which is what used to happen when gw2 was at its height of competition. And a solo, duo queue. 2 queues thats it, both ranked. One for full teams and one for solo.

Problem is i am not sure gw2 has the population for this. If so i would just make people queue as five to play ranked. People would just form groups in the hotm like they used to.

I know, the functionality is worse but i know it finally came back. It was the main reason about 5 people i know quit. We had to wait 12 minutes on average for a queue and even the epic banter we had struggled some evenings.
