I see the more tanky amulets have been removed from PVP. Not really fond of the idea. I thought it would be better to let people decide whether they want to be more offensive or defensive.
What I saw in the Heart of Mists today kind of confirms the way I feel about this. Somebody was saying how they should remove another amulet, I think it was mercenary, what’s important though is the fact that so soon after the change people are starting to request more removed. Kind of being given an inch and then trying to press for a mile.
I always thought Soldier was pretty well balanced, Sentinel, well very defensive although I never paid the 10g to get it unlocked so can’t really comment on the stats. Sad to see celestial go.

It’s either lazy or ignorant balance. Some elite specs are way too good, especially with defensive abilities. But instead of toning down these elite specs, they just removed the defensive amulets. The same elite specs are still too powerful (except chronomancer, which was gutted).

Im willing to say from there balance patches and latests nerfs and boost. They simply wanted a big change in the meta. Bunker wars had scrappers using maruder ammy and high level players on rangers typically using soldiers. Revs were using vipers and so you had a good mix of classes using different ammys.

They simply instead of fixing the new HOT specs and balancing the current weapons/ utility skills/ etc etc went and said bam whole new meta. Currently no one knows the best 5 man team or the best individual builds for team fights and 1 vs 1.

By creating a new meta they are trying to hide the fact that everything was made far to easy with the new specs.

Scrapper 2 skill reflects incoming dmg/ 4 skill aoe stun base weapon skills.

Ele- shouts heal everyone/ give auras which give regen and vigor/ all boons on overloard

necro- chill now does damage= terrormancer build dead, reaper form does great dps and is granted stacks of stability by pressing 3 and it just pulses.

ETC ETC ETC ETC

Every class was just given free boons, more dps ,more condi, more heals, more condi cleansing and you literally hit 1 button. Before HOT you had to think about when to use your skill because you only had 1 shout that gave stability, only 1 shout that gave protection but now every shout does everything.

Anet probably wont balance the new specs but continuously nerf 1 class and buff another creating new metas each season while adding in some OP rune/ sigil from time to time.

Didn’t it start with removing Minstrels, and the reason was because of unkillable druids? I can’t really remember because I didn’t notice any trouble, I just saw it on the forums. Anyway, it turned out after removing it, that druids were just extremely bugged. They could blast their water field like 5 times with a single skill that was meant to blast only once, and they could get double healing springs (or whatever its called).

Then bunker mesmer and quickness res was a problem, so instead of just nerfing it, they deleted celestial and soldier’s (and two others that were of little consequence but the game is probably better off without them to be fair). Soldier’s, which had been in the game forever, and had seen use in some viable builds that weren’t overly tanky, I don’t think had ever been really complained about.

Too much change in one go, and tipping the scales the other way instead of actually balancing. The meta isn’t being allowed to evolve. It’s just been jerked this way and that; big sudden changes. With an expansion it is unavoidable, but with following patches, it should not be. Adding and removing amulets in addition to other class changes in one go is just too much.
