Please reset everyone’s MMR next season. My participation is unlikely but for the sake of the entire pvp community – new and veteran, solo and team, resetting MMR is the least you could do if you continue allowing premades feed off pugs.

Your experiment of not resetting MMR and relying on 4 weeks of inactivity failed.

PvPers expressed concern about your poor decision. And it looks like they were right all along. This community is not as stupid as you may think.

well a total MMR resest could be painful for new players who will have to face pro players early.

But I think a partial reset shoud be fine . Just cut the MMR 2 times or down every ppl who was above a certain point to a cap. (Eg two ppl that had 250 and 550 respectively are both downed to 100) and ppl under 100 are downed to zero.

Your thoughts guys?

MMR reset is a very painful solution, and it has absolutely no interest whatsoever. Do you want easy games? People are complaining that they are winning 50% of their games, but that’s a proof that MMR is working correctly, right?

The problem then is with leagues. I still think that high-MMR players should be rewarded more pips on average to progress faster even if they get matched against equally skilled opponents.

That being said, I think emerald is the only really painful grind, because a lot of good casual players are playing there. Once you get to saphire, the average level suddenly drops, and if you’re good you’ll progress much faster. I’m almost in ruby, and I’ve yet to lose a single pip in saphire.

A win rate of 50% doesn’t actually mean you have system that is fit for purpose, so for the sake of highlighting a problem, let’s take one of the issues with GW2 and its laughable matchmaking / MMR to the extreme, let’s say you queue duo, you could alternately have one match consisting of facing a 5 man pre-made ESL team, then next match face a solo queue of players who are substantially worse than your team, repeat that pattern, and you end up with a 50% win rate.

In a working system you should matched closely with opponents and then say if you win a few, you should get matched up against progressively more difficult opponents in relatively small increasing increments of difficulty, not you win a few, then you are matched against teams that will stomp you 500-50 for 3 games to get your MMR back to 50%.

The system is not fit for purpose, a 50% win rate doesn’t mean anything.

Im guessing the reason MMR wasnt reset is because the matchmaking system they’ve implemented relies heavily on it. It was easier to get the league up and running with the MMR in place. Of course the downside is higher MMR soloQ suffer unmercifully but for newer/lower MMR players, it’s a good deal.

OP – Why haven’t you tanked your MMR like almost everyone else? After realizing that the odds don’t favor you, why would you continue fighting a system that imposes heavy penalties on you?

There are people on this forum that manipulated/cheated their way to higher divisions yet still have the nerve to ridicule those with legit concerns about matchmaking as having L2P issues. It’s really sad when people start to believe they’ve earned their merits.

I still cant blame them for tanking their MMR no matter how annoying they are because this system is broke AF.

I hear what your’re saying, I’m aware that the first week will be a rough patch but it will prevent a lot of the match manipulation that’s been going on for a while now.

I think the amount of time soloQers have wasted because manipulators farmed them for pips will exceed the amount of time it will take for MMR to settle. And, while MMR is at 0, they could implement other metrics to sort team rosters so it’s not 100% random. Metrics such as # of conquest games played, rank etc. They’re not as good as MMR but a lot better than 100% randomness.

Why do people want them to reset MMR? Thats not gonna help the situation, it will still go crazy after a short win-streak.

The idea is to disable the standard MMR during leagues completely because leagues themselves are a form of MMR system. As long as you only get matched with people in your division (or one below to help queue times) that is a form of MMR and how leagues would place you in your correct division according to your skill.

Which is supposed to be the case

This is a league so there MUST be a form of competition.

So when you get to higher divisions people are culled to good will stay so then you get good teammates.

From my experience what you say is wrong. Maybe it was because I got to Sapphire very early on, but the worst games for me were in Ruby. Getting through Ruby to Diamond was the most painful experience I’ve ever had in pvp. Right now there are alreaady people who are absolutely horrible at the game since all you need to do to get to Ruby is to farm games. MM will try to put you to 50% win/rate, so everyone will eventually get there.

I don’t think MMR reset would be all that great, though. Imagine all these Prolague premades facing 5 new people due to the reset. It would completely put off people from pvp. I know it’s painful to have such games, but new players? They definitely need to do something, though.

Imo, there just needs to be soloq. Having something like premades farming soloquers is just horrible and should never ever happen. It puts all soloquers in a disadvantage. And guess what? Most players solo/duoq. I don’t think they should try to put most of their community off. It also affects streams. Top players streaming 5 man premade pip farming is the most boring thing gw2 twitch has ever had.

Also, I don’t think they realize that not havig soloq doesn’t make people create teams, it makes people quit the game.

There also prolly should be some MMR seeding. It’s ridiculous everyone starts in the same division and on top of that people get matched also based on their MMR. Where does this leads? People of lower skill get to legend just because their MMR is lower andd they faced easier opponents.

They could finally make MMR and match predictions visible finally.

I like how Evan dodged and played with words when asked if MMR will be reset.
He didn’t say “no” but instead worked around saying it.

But yeah, either reset MMR or have a soloQ feature. It worked well in the past. It was a winning formula. A lot of teams don’t really like playing it teams. They are only formed to prevent getting farmed. If SoloQ is available, most premade teams wouldn’t exist.

Just give the majority what they want instead of the small minority. By serving a small group’s interest, you neglect most of us.

Can we please get confirmation that they will reset next season? I was one of the many who pushed for an MMR reset before leagues began. This garbage we have now would have turned out smoother had they reset MMR.
