Q:

Why isn’t something like this guys is saying not happening yet?

Devs making polls would be great and something I’d Like to see instead of the millions of QQ thread 20 for each class for both the ideas of nerfing and buffing this and then crazy we need a new energy system thread when the devs could put our minds to work for them and clean up alot of these threads.

Edit: Added to poll+poll idea to OP
Just made now we should be able to see who likes.

Q: Who would Like developers to make threads about balance? Possibly using polls.
http://strawpoll.me/394661

@Developers
Poll IDEA explained
So we should be looking for Devs to take a Leadership roll in forums and make a topic once/twice a week with polls or something exactly like the the Pve Cuttthroat Politics where
both options were promising activities, a slight variation of fractals path and then slashing prices on WP or black lion keys.

These options were all similar, not game breaking, both great ideas, and gave the players a voice in what they wanted to see. And this idea would be great in the forums. Options and leadership would greatly help these forums even if it was only once/twice a week seen in a devs poll post. Pretty sure everyone would rally behind it.
It could save devs time by not having to read every single thread when everyone could come to their thread and vote/discuss.

That idea does sound good. Enough of these random, unneeded, over the top debuffs to classes that already cant offer much in the game.

Listening to the larger crowd can be devastating for any game, since generally people are very inexperienced when it comes to competitive games.
I’ve seen and still continue to see horrible suggestions that would break the game, yet there are still people supporting the ideas.

Another issue is that most people are selfish. Everyone will always do everything they can to be “good” and/or “the best”. This is the reason there is even something called a meta-game. People will use whatever increases their chances at winning.
This creates a rather bad loop where the only thing people want is for whatever class they like to be buffed, so their chances of winning are increased, despite what is actually good for the game.
Just look at how many people are wanting buffs for Elementalists and Mesmers, which are two classes that are already out of control. Elementalists have a lot of spammable skills, as well as lot of condition removal and boon uptime if traited.
People switch in and out of attunements without the slightest bit of thought, spam all their skills and move on to the next, and they would still be viable if not for the current-meta.
Apply this to any other competitive game. In DOTA, people just running down the lane starting to use their skill whenever it’s off cooldown, or in CS people just rushing somewhere spraying while strafing.
It’s already broken, but it seems UP because classes like Necro/Ranger/Warrior are much worse.

There is a real difference between creating according to what the consumer wants and creating towards what you want. This is evident with the playstation 4 and the new xbox. The playstation is a result of what was experienced from the playstation 3, where as the xbox was created in line with what Microsoft wants.

At this stage it is apparent a-net is creating what is in line for what they want, not necessarily what the consumer wants.

They have probably wanted for some time to showcase their product at PAX. hence spectator mode was added and another 5 vs 5 arena in soloQ. They have also probably wanted to generate some income from PvP, hence custom arena you can purchase and skins that can be used in both PvE and PvP that can be purchased.

If you look at the long standing, players wanted debuff to thief, thief got more buffs. When players just gave gave up on thief ever changing, thief suddenly got Rng skills. It is a similiar case with memser. Despite chained nerfs they have caused issue with their mechanics of having A.I doing your damage. Once Mesmer fell from popularity, they suddenly got RnG. All this came months after many players raged quitted over the issues because that time was spent creating spectator mode etc. A case of closing the gate after the horse has left.

It is clear that what has been planned and is in line with what they want is still taking presidency over what players want that is fair and reasonable.

The biggest issue is that PvP can’t grow much more currently. There is no monks, no purposeful interrupts, no skill viewing through cast bars, too much particle effect, character normalising issues, spam and other plaguing issues. I do believe anet probably felt in creation that these issues would not have persisted so long and have been problematic to fix when the priority has been creating what is in line with what they want as opposed to creating what is needed immediately before more players leave.

Ican understand a-net having a strong invested interested in debuting at PAX and getting ready for that as a priority. All we can hope for now is that the next balance patch is exactly that (Balanced) and that the new additions of skills that have been mentioned help smooth things out by being more consumer orientated in terms of what the community would like to see and start driving Pvp forward in a clear and linear direction.

The fallacy in this statement hurts alot though

I don’t believe Anet introduced Spectator-mode and Custom Arenas for their own sake. Those features were actually a high priority for many players.

@KrisHQ “Listening to the larger crowd can be devastating for any game,”
Agreed thats why its in the hands of Anet to direct us to help make the game/forums better more useful.
OPs not asking for Devs to take what everyones saying and implement it. Its asking for them to take a leadership roll in the forums help clean them up by giving focus and instead of everyone making threads, to just vote and make comments in a more organized fashion by a dev making a necro topic with polls asking
A) do Necros need a dhuum buff
B) Necros need a torment buff
C) Necros need more lifeforce
D) all of the above.
Now this may be a bad example. But the idea is there and instead of 10 necro or class specific threads we could have a dev make a topic once a week to get us in line with mini week or 2 week balance patched.

@CntrlAltDefeat “There is a real difference between creating according to what the consumer wants and creating towards what you want”
Obviously yes they are creating what they want. But look at some devs posts they are listening. They are letting the players have a very small effect. Pve just had a lions arch voting contest and thats the idea here. Players choose between 2 choices. The human or the Char and they either got this buff or that buff nothing game breaking.

7 votes not bad. Once we have enough votes I will make a poll for general ideas of what a dev would probably look for if they decide to start making topics/polls about balance.

Yup thats the idea. Create better ideas and discussions, it would also save devs time instead of posting 20 times a week in multiple forums when if they just made 1 or 2 topics and have everyone come to their thread for balance discussion/voting and maybe cast a vote. It would be amazing. Alot less negative topics would be made and better ideas would come with direction from the developers.

Over 30 votes so far.
