haha ya now in wvw I have thieves get on my ranger and just weave me to death with dagger aa chain. Its kinda embarrassing that I die to that wrather than 10k backstabs and 7k heartseekers.

Try equip your char with some gear first. Armor, you know. Trinkets.

Then you should learn how to use you skills and utulities. If you can’t see any skills on your skill bar then you have to equip weapon first.

Then just practice.

That’s not why ranger’s sb autoattack got nerfed. The nerf was to make longbow viable (because, at that time, lb was so bad shortbow was the only reasonable choice). Anet wanted people to use longbow, but didn’t want to buff/rework it, so the devs decided that nerfing competition would make lb usable again.
It didn’t work, of course, and lb eventually got a series of buffs that brought it back into the light and usability. SB nerfs, as you might expect, were never rolled back.

As a typical thief would say,
" ya but if I take defensive stats then my dmg is garbage and I might aswell just reroll (insert any class other than thief that can do 12k dmg in 5sec)"

And for that learn how to use skills comment, ya cause that dmg rotation of 11111111111111111 must be really taxing on that initiative pool designed to be used for both offensive and defensive skills.

Unfortunately it just makes the profession easier to play and reduces the incentive to play well or use the very poor skills every other weapon but D/P has, as if D/P wasn’t easy and boring enough to play.

Oh, pets can one shot players?! Wow! What sort of pet is that? I wonder why, with these crazy pet-one-shotting-players shenanigans, doesn’t everyone play a ranger/druid? Imagine, a whole blob of Bristlebacks, furiously charging into an enemy blob, ruthlessly one shotting every sorry noob on the receiving end, and then consuming their peasant flesh? Why not?! Pets can one shot players, after all.

Minus sword, it did need the buff to speed. Makes it a bit more inviting to make choices in S/X combos instead of just 3/3/3 :C Which is sad. Dagger needed no buffs to autos, buff to hs absolutely, nerf to ss no doubt. Offhand just needs some mad love. Pistols are still trash, Staff remains the highest damaging weapon (surprise, surprise. and people say p2w is not a thing).

As a Thief, I’m mad about bugs. But I still smile, log in for 30 minutes, rage, log off. Sometimes twice a day.

Worst Thief in the world, yes I am.

You haven’t been playing since release so you’re probably unaware, but you could have literally just copied a post from that time with the sort of response you provided.

Indeed the only thing preventing people from looking completely stupid then was the fact the game was new and most thief players only knew how to play thief, so were given some latitude with their lack of insight.

A warrior, a guardian, and an elementalist walk into an open field…

I just repeat it again: if you die to any melee AA then you are really really bad on whatever class you play. Especially if you do it on the best 1vs1 class in the game (ranged btw).

If you don’t want to improve your play this is your problem. I only tried to show you some possible ways.
