Anet please read... for the player base

It’ll still be the same game.
B2P is near as good as free to play…
GW2 is a B2P game that had 3? million people buy it before launch… that alone is a large chunk of the total MMO market… then it lost near every one of those players because people couldn’t stand the game.
GW2’s problem is not a problem with accessibility.
Millions know about the game, millions own it.
GW2 needs large change in how it actually plays for anything to happen.
The devs seem intent on fixing the game with small tweaks to balance…
See the issue?
(hint: it’s the devs)

Well, the game has the whole wvw/pve population to pull from, a lot probably aren’t playing because the pvp just isn’t fun or there yet, plus no rewards.
Second, B2P isn’t a big barrier for people if the game is actually good.
They just need to make the game good and fun, there’s a reason people enjoy wvw roaming probably more so than spvp, there’s more build variety.
Anet should just consider focusing 90% on making the game fun, stop trying to squeeze the life out of the game trying to make it balanced. Let everyone be a little OP in their own ways but just give us more options and tweak it.
If Riot had tried forcing LoL into being an esports right out of the gate, that game would’ve never gotten anywhere lol.
Filling up a game type with free to play, free limited client players might increase the population of pvpers but I don’t think it would improve the community.
I would expect that the quality of the community would downgrade considerably.
That would also kick the door wide open for multiple trolling accounts and grief at an exponential level.
This thread again?… this question has been debated since release ; IMHO terrible decision.
Off topic but where’s the Asuras are OP thread ? Real Pvpers play trees.
There is only 1 problem with that which is that it unfortunately boils down to more game modes to keep players hooked because you can clearly see that there were some people actually trying to be “competitive” within the first 2 months of the game but interest fell off from playing the same thing over and over. Conquest isn’t that much of a problem once you know how to win in general (winning team fights, when to engage, rotations, etc) unfortunately you don’t learn any of this doing hotjoin and if you soloq you get flamed by the community blaming the loss on you. Esports cannot be forced, if there were a variety of game modes available, the activity of the community will show that there is actual competition going on, but conquest isn’t that popular because of the “time-gate” to learn the game mode/becomes very boring in some respects after awhile.
It would help for a bit, but right now the community is so toxic to itself that we’d either drive people away or spread the negative perception of the format.
Priorities, what to do?
Spend hours with dye
Going Free 2 play likely won’t significantly aid them with the current state of the product they have to offer. I could certainly be wrong, but I think GW2 still has to find how it’ll retain players whether it is rewards, infrastructure, a format change, balance or whatever.

Making one very solid in depth map could work, but would be a lot of work.
IDK, but having the same very simple game mode gets boring.
