This game desperately needs new game modes! 2+ years of conquest is soooooo stale! Arenas are esports and the maps are easy to design! Courtyard is not a good arena map! A good arena map is small with boxes or pillars to hide behind and LoS! So easy to make! Also if you release arenas, you will be reuniting me with my frand that I used to play video games with that I haven’t played with in over 2 years! We used to be best frands! But he quit Guild Warts 2 because it’s so goshdarn boring while I stayed hoping for good changes! But those never came! Plz help grant this wish for a 2.5+ year disgruntled veteran!

PS My frand left this game to be esports at League of Legends and won lots of money! Basically if you create 2v2/3v3 arenas, you will get players who play the most esports game in the world to play your game instead! Plz!

Courtyard is too big, has huge camera issues, and does not have arena gameplay in unranked queue! It’s poorly implemented deathmatch! What I am talking about is a tiny map with a few LoS boxes for 2v2/3v3 arenas! The beach in forest is a nice example of a good sized arena map!

Can you imagine that in a game like Guild Wars 2, where depending on the builds, battles can last as little as seconds? I don’t think it would be worth the wait in a queue. Best keep organizing those in custom arenas, and hope for more Team Deathmatch maps.
I don’t see how if you wait 2-15 minutes for a 5v5, you’d have to wait 45 minutes for a 2v2/3v3! Also arenas require more skillz than conquest! First and foremost, the objective is to PvP unlike conquest where the objective is to stand on point! Second, there are less teammates to rely on if you missplay! Third, arenas are espoooooorts! Fourth, arena maps are easy to design! Vee Wee even supplied Anet with a sample arena map! There are only a few steps to making an arena map!
You can even combine 2 and 3! Trees could be LoS objects! Geez louise creating arena maps can be just a 2 step process! Anet plz!

Anyways, we got 1 deathmatch map and it’s enough. Also PvP has already loads of LoS points on pretty much all the maps. The game is alreadydesigned in a way where melee is by far superior. We don’t need yet another map to make braindead bunkers yet more powerfull.
Oh and a note to all of you that say “Crycry I left the game, blahblah”, None cares!

Yes, I can read. How arena is any different from courtyard? What. you want 1v1 ranked matches? So Cele monkey ele and engies can win match after match ? I’m sorry, but in this game, and the way it’s “ballanced”, conquest mode is the best we can get.

I’d be all over 2v2 or 3v3 arenas…god was I addicted to those in wow.

I haven’t experienced PvP in Guild Wars 1, but that does sound like a ton of fun. My queue times in that other game were mostly due to my overpowered composition; my ranking was so high I was only getting matched with one or two other teams in the whole server group (against which we never lost). The harder the matchmaking tries to be balanced, the longer the queue times become.

ArenaNet seem to like designing each map with some sort of distinctive feature. In Conquest, each map has different secondary objectives. Sure, I’d personally love to see a whole bunch of different maps with nothing special aside from a unique layout and theme, but that’s what filler content is all about.

To be honest Vee Wee, I don’t think Arenas would fit very well in this game.
Why not! There’s already unofficial arena tournaments hosted by “official shoutcasters”! That just proves it works! Meanwhile the fact that after two and a half years this game only has one goshdarn game mode in PvP is killing it, among other things! Don’t let Courtyard fool you! That map is just a terrible, oversized, 5v5 cluttered, poorly implemented deathmatch map! That’s not arenas!
Wasn’t World of Warcraft esportz at one time! They sure as hell weren’t playing poopy butt conquest! Anet should shift balance focus, map creation focus, and just their overall focus to arenas, the PvP mode where you actually PvP and where player skill is way more important! Conquest doesn’t have to go, but they should put it where it belongs! Casual hotjoins!

Arena should be a fun map if the Dev can take sometime to develop it and make a real game mode out it not the poorly implemented one we have now.
I think 3v3 is the sweet spot it can feel more like a team game. 2v2 can feel a little too loneny for me.
Here is the tips for the fastest and easiest way to get this done, put out a beta map and take feedback from players. Dota isn’t completed or became famous in a single day and LoL was built on top of Dota.
