Anet's master plan
There is no masterplan, there is a concept created by our own minds, this concept is “OP”, “Overpowered” . We need this concept to keep pretending we are good, and other random players can’t be as good as we are. So if we get beaten there is always some other factor, it can not be difference of skill.
It feels like Anet makes one thing OP and nerfs the rest to the ground and then a month later; nerfs the OP thing and makes something else OP. Can’t Anet just make everything balanced and leave PvP alone?

Great video, thanks for sharing.

That actually was a awesome video,
a bit of a love fest for LOL but a great video
Ya, no.
Case in point: d/d ele. It was hands-down the best build for so long I don’t even remember and nothing could counter it or compete with it.
“Perfect Imbalance” means that a build has strengths and weaknesses.

to be fair, in first year of this game eles weren’t THAT amazing, in pvp ele almost didn’t exist as matter of fact
then celestial amy and eles got buffed~
[Teef] guild :>
they even stated themselves they want to “Shake up the meta” frequently, I guess this is their way of doing it.

I was chewed out by a guy in /w after I 2v1’d him and his buddy on my D/D Elementalist.
He cried for a good 2 minutes before I ended up blocking him.
“Wow Tempest is so over powered”
“You’re not even good, you just reroll FoTm”
>tfw 3k hours on Elementalist
>tfw playing last seasons D/D
>tfw no tempest

There was a window in the first year when d/d eles were OP. It was during late 2012 – Spring 2013. They used to stack boon duration back when you could mix/match runes. Then they got nerfed. RTL was one of the skills that got nerfed amongst others.
Cele resurrected them. June 23 patch made them Gods. Sept 29 downgraded them to OP. DH owned them. Then they reincarnated to tempest.

D/D eles were always OP since release it just took players time to actually find the build.
They were eventually nerfed due to teams taking 2 of them on a team in PvP……..
They can’t even if they wanted to, because they’re clueless.
I wanna play on my warrior but don’t wanna kitten any team I’m on. Previously, I had warrior to a science; target the class with the most utility and healing potential, get in some autoattack shots, interrupt telegraphs with shield, hammer, and kick, and use gap closers like sword 3 to catch up to those escaping. Same deal on thief but there the focus was on damage instead of interrupt and CC.
However, today there is just too much AoE for that to be viable.

And even then because some regions only allowed three classes at least whereas other regions had four eles. It wasn’t by accident that two engineers were chosen in regions that forbade class stacking.
