Anet please save this pvp season and hotfix back to the old matchmaking algorithm. This is no fun for low MMR people. If you do not revert it back quickly all the bad, mediocre and casual players avoid pvp again. Noone enjoys loosing 80%+ of their games. Queue times are exploding already in emerald. From instant when season started to several minutes now.
The PvP population is low as it is. No need to reduce it further to please a few PvP elitists who are scared of people other than them reaching higher divisions.

You dont gain MMR by playing. You gain MMR by winning. If you have a loosing streak its a circle of doom.

They also need to nerf Scrappers and Necros if they want to save this season.

If you want balanced matches, you either need to put in the time to get to your appropriate ranked position, or skip the league and stay in unranked.

It’s balanced up here in Sapphire league. Last 10 games has been a rotation issue on either team, rather than a player skill issue.

You guys realized that their opponents are being picked out of a pip range, regardless of mmr right? So their teammates are players within the pip range with similar mmr, while their opponents are players within the pip range of any mmr. Then when they lose, mmr goes down, teammates get worse, and still fighting same group of opponents in that pip range cause opposing teams are not being matched by mmr.

Now in theory eventually everyone will settle in a pip range that represents their skill level and the world would be good, if it happens that way of course, and if everyone doesn’t leave first.

I am fortunate to be on the winning side of this algorithm so far, but on the matches I have lost, it was by a landslide, and I knew I would probably lose at start of match. Such as, I had a match with a Turret Engi of all things. Apparently nobody ever told him about the Turret nerf.

It sucks being placed in a match where the game’s own algorithm anticipates your own defeat. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be to be placed in such bad matches for an extended period of time.

Just stop and think, all the blowout matches you’ve had, did the enemy team stand a chance? Now imagine being stuck on a losing team like that every single game knowing that every time you lose, your teammates will keep getting worse.

Speaking for necros/reapers they just need to revert back the pre-buff changes to reaper and remove the Wanderer’s and Mercenary Amulet that makes the class too much of a reward rather than risk.

Anet doesn’t give a flying kitten or they would have done something already. There are 2 courses of action available…. 1 make lots of humorous Imgur posts about Anet employees and 2 play a different game

It’s mostly because of the hard reset on everyone’s divisions.

MMR-hell is already hard to get out of, but putting people from legendary ranks with those that rarely PvP might have been an oversight.

A softer reset next season could be interesting, provided the rewards are given out to those who do receive a sifter reset.

You don’t understand. Your opponent could be anyone at all from the pip range. Only your teammates are chosen by the MMR range. So Streaks lead to more streaks.

Wait until the exodus (that’s already started, mind you) hits full-stride. Then it’ll just be the top-250 beating on one another in ruby, no bubbles, no troubles. People throw around ‘ded game’ way too casually, but it might honestly describe pvp once the casuals and average players you hate carrying leave.

So if you are stuck in MMR-hell and still think you believe in higher divisions, form a team and work to get out there (teams get an MMR-buff AFAIK, so your left-over team places will more likely be filled with better MMR-players due to new MM in season 2).

If you still think you should be able to carry a team of 5 by your skillful play alone (or get carried by 4 players yourself), ranked play in league is clearly nothing for you – move on, there is nothing to see here

BTW, I am last tier emerald, my two teammates made it into sapphire already (they play more often), and we experience pretty balanced matches since 3 days. Winning and Loosing in most matches were caused by either our team or the opponent team made slightly more/less mistakes than the others.

Compared to season 1 (where I was about to quit GW2 completely more than one time), this season 2 is quite a blast (although there are lots of things that still could be improved).

Forcing people to form coordinated team is stupid. full stop.

What you say sounds fine.

However, take off the blinkers and see what is ACTUALLY happening here.
MMR is so monumentally phuked that it is not representing skill level. I have absolutely no problem what-so-ever with being matched WITH people my own skill level and then losing, even repeatedly, to better teams. That is not what’s happening though – I’m not sure how many clearly sensible posts you need to see before you let that one sink in through your pink mist of complacency because obviously – ’You’re alright Jack".

They can’t bring back old matchmaking and they shouldn’t without resetting the entire league.

I think ANET should continue with this kitten even after this season is over and then in the next season and beyond as well.

Why?

Ideally, it will completely eliminate “bad” players from PvP and only "good "players will remain in the system at higher divisions (5+). In reality, queue times will be kittened up across the board and QQ in higher divisions will ensue by taking forum PvP to a new high.

All in all in the end, its all about measuring kittens. Realize this and move on from the league and bring the fights here. More fun.

Yes, whatever I try I cannot get my loosing streaks to stop. Like 1 win out of every 20 matches at the moment

A lot of people wont come back when they quit. So its better to prevent people from quitting.

Once again that is what the vocal minority in the community thinks we need. Purge all the n00bs from PvP. If you didn’t rng PvP since the last MMR reset you don’t deserve to be matched with teammates of your same skill level.

A lot of people wont come back when they quit. So its better to prevent people from quitting.

So people suggested getting a full team. But it is not helping at all. I searched for likeminded people, we went on TS, tried our best. But we get guild teams all the time, which obviously are operating well together, at least better than a few like minded people you randomly pick up via lfg and map chat. We had some close games, but no wins. Usually after 2-3 losses people leave and you have to replace them. So you can never practice properly with these people.
So premade is not the solution to broken soloQ MMR.

There is no point to play unranked. It is playing ranked or no pvp at all for me.

What is there to save at this point really? Lets think about this we’ve seen this exact thing happened in another game mode that is now tethering by the treaads. Anet has proven in the past once a game mode get to a certain point of no return then they will waste little to no more efforts on trying to revive it.

And ranked is far different from ESL which is the professional eSports of GW2.

Honestly at this point if people are so angry then they should simply stop being fodder for the players the system deems worthy of getting a free pass thru the lower divisions, instead of having to fight their way through like most. A system like this where there are little to no participation from the abused party usually falls in on it self, more so if the party being abused is the majority of the population.

Surely if everyone is quitting because of this terrible system and there is nobody left to PvP then the 15 or 20 people complaining about kittenty teammates must have played some matches together, meaning the baddies they are complaining about are calling them baddies too.

I have seen people complaining about losing 100 matches already and its been what 6 days? Take a break and come back when the divisions settle out. Most of the players who are “blessed” (because there is no way some people are just actually better than other players and they are only lucky) with good MMR will be in saph or ruby by now or in the next few days and only the new players and players with average/lower MMR will be left in the lower divisions.

If you can’t carry a team of 4 bad players against a team of 5 other bad players it turns out you might just not be as good as you thought. People seem to forget this is a ranked season and not everyone can win and reach legendary division. After all every match there are 5 winners and 5 losers, at least with this season the 5 better players win instead of 3 good players and 2 bad winning while 2 good and 3 bad lose.

You must believe that when the current system gives you a rank, that rank is accurate in describing your ability and skill.

Biggest argument against that right now is the guy who posted that he plays two accounts. In one account the system says he is an above-average player; on the other account the system says he is a well below-average player.

Yeah I quit last night having hit t2 of emerald, it isn’t worth fighting it anymore. Good luck to all the many pro’s we have here. I’ll spend my 2 hrs a night farming mats and play the trading post stock market for fun.

Yeah I quit last night having hit t2 of emerald, it isn’t worth fighting it anymore. Good luck to all the many pro’s we have here. I’ll spend my 2 hrs a night farming mats and play the trading post stock market for fun.

+1 here. I have limited time to play and i’m not going to waste it on the mess that pvp is right now.

Been trying to cross 1 tier in pvp. But I cannot kill a reaper so stuck in same tier for over 60 matches now. (emerald division)

Last season I got to diamond with multiple builds, now the only solution is to play reaper and I am not going to do it because it is the only way.

I’ve had a lot of win streaks but that was after my loss streak, I adapted my builds and playstyles according to my allies, I switched toons when needed and rotated while allies tunnel visioned mid. I progressed through the ranks after I got good so to speak or brought a more useful build suited to allies, such as druid if my team was running mostly glass builds.

This season is not a grind season, there is no medal for every player just because they qued for ranked.

Adapted builds? You have no idea what everyone is running in solo q, they don’t even answer sometimes.

Save the season???? ANET DOESN’T CARE!!!! Have you seen any plans for them to balance anything? Make it better for the majority of the players? NO. Just logged in, my MMR is very low due to some very bad luck at the beginning and I’m up against ESL players, I mean come on!!!!!!! My team didn’t know basic rotations/peeling, I had to sit on far and 1v1, 1v2 the enemies as they came just to get our score up as we couldn’t do anything in mid close, we had a thief kitten ing around attacking gates while the rest of the team were fighting off point while I was competing with an ESL thief and memser for far (who was placing perfect portals for his team to move around). For ANet’s desertion of their players and their arrogance in persisting with their ‘plan which is blatantly to try to force ESports into the game’ they deserve no niceties, no respect and no loyalty. They are constantly kittening on the majority of their players
