Annoying PvP.
1_ this is not gw1, this has nothing similar to gw1 except lore.

I know that and I agree with it. But what i’m pointing out are flaws that are really annoying in general.
-5 minute wait time is annoying when people don’t just click “Ready”
-Sharks I hate. Get rid of them and that map won’t be so bad. Skill should win you the point, not an army of NPCs.
-Downed state for Necro and Guardian is not so bad. Sure they have that one skill out of the gate that they pop but once you recover from the fear/knockback you can finish them no problem (unless they have a buddy nearby to rez them – rezzing drives me nuts. Should take longer to rez a person). Thief and Mesmer are annoying but I think it fits in with Anet’s philosophy of how downed state should work. It’s the other classes that need their down state fixed to be more useful.
-I’ve seen afkers and I hate it. We need a report afk button or something in the background to auto kick you after 60 seconds of doing nothing.
-I agree, people need to be penalized for leaving.
-Fix the point system so zerging isn’t as appealing and defense is more important. I’ve even been 3v1d with an army of pets to boot on 5v5 tourneys so it’s not just the 8v8 maps
-On the topic of 8v8, aside from all of the above, get rid of auto balancing.
Some of the other points I don’t have problems with. PvP is fun overall but there are definitely some things that really drive me nuts and/or make me rage that need fixing. Game is new though so I guess stuff like this is to be expected.
You know, I really didn’t read anything there that I haven’t thought about. I stopped doing sPVP as much as I used to once I realized people can leave without being penalized.
I lost a match the other day because (we were winning) the game got close and people panicked then left… They caught up and beat us by 5 pts. I too said f* it, left and logged out.
However, capping… I love it. I like to defend and take points. Sharks are stupid and so are fancy, flashy moves… I love practicality.
My main is also a Mesmer… have fun trying to F me (lol @ pun). I will make your life difficult, for as long as I can.

It takes 3 attempt to down a thief or mesmer. Just wack them to death. it is faster.
Fancy, flashy moves I do like. I understand that some people think it makes it hard to see what’s going on, but it adds so much to the visual aspect of a game. I like pretty things and I know I’m not alone in that – good looking character models, attractive and creative armor sets, beautiful scenery, and cool animations and spell effects. If it’s too simple or ugly it becomes boring and hard to really enjoy the game I’m looking at for hours on end. Gameplay is important, but it’s hard to get far enough into a game to discover the gameplay if the visuals aren’t there. That’s one thing GW2 did well.

Leaving when the match comes up is fine, it’s leaving when your getting stomped by 200+ points so the people working to achieve victory get slapped in the face by having worked against what has become their team, and get nothing but that slap to the face while the horribads that leave because they are losing just go find a new room.

I just wait for the Mesmer with the large red arrow above their head to appear a split second after their clone and stomp them flat. Their #3 downed ability (Phantasmal Rogue) is nothing more than damage, and their #2 (Stealth + Clone) downed skill has a 15 second cooldown – plenty of time to re-locate the Mesmer.

It takes me one try to down a mesmer; I was born with two eyes.
Playing a Mesmer myself i can tell you that you either didnt meet a good one yet or your lying.
Mesmer is not beatable in 1on1
Mesmers are very beatable, I do it all the time on my guardian, I lose sometimes but I win about 70% of the time 1v1. And downing a mesmer is simple, when they clone and invis, look for the 1 with 2 arrows instead of 1, thats the real one. This is how you down a thief, start, he teleports, you go to him, he stealths, just start wacking in that spot, he will reappear, either keep smacking him or down him, he has nothing after that.
- Warrior’s down state skill ’Vengeance" : If you respawn before “Vengeance” ends you will die again at the waypoint. Losing another 15 seconds because of the respawn timer.
Well that clearly sounds like a bug. Report it and I’m sure they’ll fix it.
