Speaking in terms of sPvP obv, millionth thread about ele being kitten at everything (except PvE)

Scepter:

Lightning 1 – bad, have to wait 3 sec to get the max dmg, cant dodge in the meantime
Lightning 2 – decent
Lightning 3 – bad, single target, high cd

Fire 1 – longest autoatt in the game, low damage
Fire 2 – needs manual targeting, long delay cast time, good dmg
Fire 3 – very good, but since you run crit vigor its partly less effective

Earth 1 – ok, hast to be like water 1, no pre delays before shooting the rocks
Earth 2 – decent
Earth 3 – can be efficient, but mostly isnt

Water 1 – needs more damage, but overall the best autoatt on scepter (L1 is better because of the build ofc)
Water 2 – worst skill ever made
Water 3 – quite bad, needs lower cd or some kind of buff

Staff:

Lightning 1 – bad
Lightning 2 – bad
Lightning 3 – can be good, needs aoe
Lightning 4 – ok
Lightning 5 – very good

Fire 1 – mediocre to bad
Fire 2 – very hard to land, can be decent
Fire 3 – ok
Fire 4 – ok
Fire 5 – good, hard to land

Earth 1 – bad
Earth 2 – hard to land, bad
Earth 3 – excellent
Earth 4 – excellent
Earth 5 – mediocre to bad

Water 1 – bad
Water 2 – mediocre to bad, hard to land
Water 3 – can be good
Water 4 – good
Water 5 – bad (if traited for condi removal, meh)

Dagger:

Lightning 1 – mediocre
Lightning 2 – bad to mediocre
Lightning 3 – decent
Lightning 4 – great
Lightning 5 – hard to land, can be ok, lower cc time

Fire 1 – bad
Fire 2 – meh
Fire 3 – good
Fire 4 – meh
Fire 5 – hard-ish to land, does little for its cd time

Earth 1 – bad
Earth 2 – bad
Earth 3 – mediocre to bad
Earth 4 – decent, needs more aoe/cc time up
Earth 5 – worst, does zero damage for its channel time, easily interrupted, only usable with lightning flash, even then, bummer

Water 1 – bad
Water 2 – meh
Water 3 – meh to good
Water 4 – ok-ish
Water 5 – weaker

Focus:

b-a-d, one cc in the entire cast (minute cd), projectile shenanigens, 4 sec invul and thats all

Same story as always, every single class in this game is better at everything with every single skill. We don’t have setups, we can’t combo stuff if peeps aren’t totally stupid. Updrafts setup time is low, cant Fire 2/3/5 properly. Air 5 with focus is a pathetic excuse for a stun. Earthquake can be quite good, only for the interrupt though. We generally lack any kind of control.

Didn’t mention much about CDs in skill interpretation – generally – we have long CD on everything, trying to justify that by saying we have 4 weapon switches is riduculous, 5/6 of those spells are really weak for their CDs.

Thief is riduculous with his 5k hits by spamming 222 all day. Legit playstyle, thank you.

We cannot burst down Warriors and Necros, ever. I can go full zerk and I won’t scratch half of their HP. And yeas, they kill us in 3 hits. Legit playstyle.

Ensnared in Tornado, really?

Only viable way to play is Fresh Air, but you miss one spell and you’re done.

Not talking about PvE/WvW, thats a different concept entirely.

TL:DR inb4 ele needs massive buffs or others need massive nerfs. Been like this for ages, thank you for ruining my experience by forcing me to alt+f4 everytime I get owned by autoattacking scrubs that have to clue at all.

Another fool who wants more power creep to kill the game. Other stuff should be nerfed and ele should stay the same. This won’t happen because Anet listens to people like you who have no idea and then we get massive power creep and a game nobody plays because its not fun playing against immunities, perma evades, massive instant damage, or massive condi spikes. All these things “balance” out but that doesn’t make the “balance” of the game good.

Auto attacks SHOULD be bad. Otherwise you just get brainless idiots able to spam auto attacks and put pressure on people. Scepter on necro is the same. Totally OP. Staff on the necro is an amazingly balanced weapon because the auto attack is not good. So it takes skill to use the weapon set effectively.

It is funny how anet listens to people like you and is buffing ranger longbow auto attack because all the bads in the ranger forums want it to be stronger. That is a horrible idea because then spamming 1 will just dominate.

So congrats dude, you and newbs like you have ruined this game with all your QQ about things needing buffs. The buff group won. They listened to you and ignored those of us who want nerfs. Maybe when you are better at the game you will realise this.

Not that I am attacking you personally. I am attacking the VIEW that people like you have rallied behind on these forums which has ruined the game. It is fine and everyone does it. But please see how your views are killing this game

Elementalist is bad. Everything that an elementalist does, any other class can do better.
But it does not matter anymore. Many good old elementalists already left the game and soon the rewards will be removed. Too much time wasted on waiting for something (or anything) to happen in PvP.

Dont bother, I just rerolled a power necro and kill stuff by auto atacking in death shrowd (not even joking unfortunatly) with elementalist you never go into a fight thinking “this matchup is easy” it is always an uphill battle for no reward at all…

It’s always like you said trying to not get recked by “pros” auto-atacking in the “pro” builds with minimal effort

I stopped reading when you said ele is bad at everything except PvE. They are one of the top 3 classes within WvW. Just stick to arguing for changes in PvP.

Please don’t make a list like this if you don’t know what you are talking about. The blinds from scepter (air and earth) are actually really useful. If you learn to use them together and in between cooldowns you would realize they are actually very good. You analysis on the focus is the biggest issue of this post.

Focus is a very very good weapon if you ask me. I’m not saying it’s perfect, as it has a few issues, but it’s not near as bad as you make it to be.

For one, learn what other classes are throwing at you. You have two projectile reflects, with a condi clear tied to one, you have an invulnerability, a chill(that could help you land a dragon tooth if you are standing on the side of point) a daze, which is incredibly useful combined with the blinds to stop a target momentarily from dpsing you down, and it can even be used to interupt a heal. Of course that takes some good playing on the ele’s part. Fire shield is a good ability, nothing wrong with it. I only have two complaints about focus, but they aren’t huge issues. The first issue is the fire 4 is poorly designed. My intention when I saw this ability was to use it as a fire field to stack might; however if I attempt to stack might with my combo blasts, I can end up using about 5 blasts, and mabye only landing 2 or 3. Sometimes standing directly on top of it, using skills such as evasive arcana earth dodge, the blast still wont connect with the field. If the field was better designed, i could see fresh air being able to stack 20~ might. The other complaint, is the cooldown they put on the knockdown on air 5. I’m okay with focus having one knockdown, but it’s silly to be on such a huge cooldown. Many times if I am in a 1v1 on my elementalist landing this ability could mean the difference of winning and losing. If I don’t land the ability and I’m fighting a tankier class, I generally have to do anything I can to survive for another 50 seconds. The other problem that occurs here is if the person I’m fighting uses a stun breaker here. If they have more than one, or it comes off of cooldown in less than 50 seconds, I probably won’t ever land a dragon tooth in a 1v1 situation. Dragon tooth just becomes an ability to make a melee step back a moment, or hopefully make someone dodge roll. Also, thieves do counter fresh air ele. If you are in a teamfight, make sure to have someone help you peel the thief asap when he opens of you. With a little help fresh air can be a thieves nightmare. I’ve dropped thieves in a few seconds without even having to land dragons tooth.

I would like to see ele get some kind of niche. Thieves have insane burst stealth lots of evades and initiative. Mesmer has clones and stealth. Necro has a large health pool plus a second health pool and so on for the other classes. Ele are lowest health lowest armor class and don’t have a niche to make up for it. As several have stated other classes do everything and ele can do better.

So Ideas for possible niches.
1)Add water fields to all ele weps and add some sort of heal to all water attunment wep skills sets like dagger off hand has. So they ele can be the best healer.
2)Massive reduce on cooldowns accross the board so they can be masters of burst like the thief.
3)Add lots of torment chill criplle and wall type skills to the wep sets so they become the masters of anti mobility
4)Add lots of combo fields to every wep set so they become the masters of combo fields.
5)Add lots of mobilty with decent cooldowns so they can become as good or better than thief mobility since they are a low hp low armor class.
