id say its less cancer than turret engi just cuz it is possible to kill and it has no effectiveness outside 1v1
If you think it should be nerfed then call for it to be nerfed immediately. Don’t be complacent and let ANet think that we are ok with balance patches that come every 3-4 months.
Yup. I main thief and even I abhor these constant evade builds.
They are a nuisance but not invincible. The key is to time your stuns/snares when the evade frames end. As a thief playing against these thieves, this is where skills like Impairing Daggers can come in handy.
Once you get them cc’ed you can apply burst pressure and they will die, or get sloppy and make mistakes and still die.
Vault and evade spammers are one trick ponies and pure troll builds. Hopefully they get patched out soon but until then, don’t let them stress you out too much, they are more a pest than an actual threat, especially condi evade.
I said this before HOT but anet needs to realize when you combine the acro line with DD you get broken stuff.
Both builds are based on spamming evades till you run out of them (funny fact you don’t)
I don’t have any problems with both of them but it’s frustrating when your team lose vs them in 1v2s and 1v3s OR when you actually face good players and these builds become useless..
A simple fix is remove or remake the acro line, atm the line is full of passives and provides little counterplay for most traits, that along with the DD line create unhealthy builds like the ones you said.

They are definitely low skill floor builds, like full traps DH, but having played them, they really aren’t terribly effective with any consistency, unless you actually DO have skill, at which point condi only gets slightly more effective while staff performs nearly as well as d/p, albeit in different roles. That said, thief has always been blamed for being spammy. Used to be 2, 2, 2,…, then 3, 3, 3,…, we still have 4, 4, 4,…Anyway you get the point. Initiative mechanic promotes spamming by novice thieves, and lets face it, what DH doesn’t wish he could spam true shot, especially the immediately post release version.

It would be interesting to see acrobatics focus less on passive survivability and evades and more on something else. Maybe a line with traits to enhance shadowsteps (pretty sure this was suggested somewhere a long time ago), since it traditionally synergized with sword. It could work with sword, p/d, sb, and d/p, as well as steal.
I play a perma evade condi thief, and I really enjoy the play style. It is a very very powerful build if you don‘t get spammy with it. I have to time everything perfectly and know when to flee and when to port to confuse enemies that are focusing me. There is a 2-3 second vulnerability time where I have no defences and I have to have that times at the perfect time.
If you use the build properly you can take and hold points without being scared of 2v1 situations.
Other classes have access to heavy survivability where thief has evasion measures(stealth, evade, and shadow step) so it’s very important to use these to a thief’s advantage to confuse opponents. Without all of them a thief has no reason to be anywhere near PvP

I agree they are trash builds like this regardless of whether they are op or not. Id like to sit with a dev and show him fraps of some clown thief doing the same move over and over and over again and ask if they think that is scintillating game play that garbage like that could even be semi effective at any leve of game play? I’d be embarrassed as a dev that a build like that is even semi-conceivably effective against anyone. at any level because its totally mindless and skill less.

Very anoying and can kill lord …. I usually kill them with ele and warrior. As thief they can run away but they provide less +1 power then staff or d/p. They need longer for a kill which makes them weaker in their thief role. Its funny i they dance around my warrior and i 100 blade ….. when they realize it´s not good for them they step back … and are hit by CC and killed by me …
