Any New PvP Modes this January 21st?
i dun think so, because they have no announcements regarding new PvP game modes yet. but i think we may get something to read about on 21 january though.
Team deathmatch? Yes please. It would actually be fun to watch as well.
CTF? No ty. In order to try to balance it, they’d have to start disabling skills (think orb runs) which is not fun.
There was a Pvp Developer twitch stream a while back that talked about them working on new modes, especially new maps. There was like 4 prototype maps they showed on the stream and the maps were pretty awesome too
I don’t think so too.
There was also a eurogamer interview in which ANet stated that they will primarily focus on the last few updates for the Scarlet Living Story arc and then take one big awesomesauce patch that will contain big mechanical features which will prolly include QoL stuff and those new PVP game modes and maps.

later. It doesn’t care that I’m there.”
What’s the fascination with team deathmatch? zzzzzzzz
Guess they wont release any modes before a huge blog post and announcement on the forums. Dont get your hopes up. Will take a while longer.
No. Death match should never be in GW2.
Instead, it should be disguised as a no respawn King of the Hill. Why? Thieves can just perma stealth and hide in the corner until they are found. Then they’ll stealthed away and hide in another corner.

- “Permastealth” with D/P + Infusion of Shadows was insanely easy to counter, but no longer exists.
- The new “permastealth” isn’t possible without using utilities with lengthy cooldowns and ridiculously obvious tells.
- The goal of TDM is to kill your opponents. A useless Thief wasting his utilities to be useless and “permastealth” in a corner is absolutely useless in a TDM setting.
Nice try though, you may want to remove Thief from your signature.
all is vain
I’d love to see new game modes. Temple of the Silent storm and Skyhammer were great but, only thing is that they added new elements to the same game mode. I’d love to see a capture the flag type game style as long as its on a larger PvP map than those that currently exist. Another game mode that was innovative and a lot of fun was SWOTOR’s Hut Ball. I’d even like to see a siege type map with two keeps and lords defending them (Alterac Valley?).
To this day one of my favorite types of pvp modes is “murder ball”. An example of this type of game mode is found in Rift Black Garden.

Taking a flag gives you 5 unique skills and gives you unique equal stats (you become a Flag carrier class for a moment) – no need to disable any skills, and a fun mode.
We won’t even get any balance changes. It’s PVE-only patches till march or even april.
ctf with immob stacking? no thanks.

I’ll put my hopes on this summer.
According to: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-01-14-you-thought-that-was-it-for-guild-wars-2
""When [Living World Season One] ends [on 4th March], we’re going to take a break for a little bit and then we’re going to do one really big feature patch that is more akin to what people see from some of our [MMO] competitors," said Johanson, "where they bundle a lot of features together into a really big patch every now and then.
“We’re going to provide that experience and have this huge feature build that has a whole lot of gameplay-changing elements, a lot of quality of life improvements, a lot of features bundled together into one big patch. And that’ll come some time not too far after Season One completes.”"

if thats really the case, many of those who came back with 10th dec patch will then probably leave it for good.
at least balancing is a must to be addressed more frequent

Yeah, I came back for the Dec. 10th patch and I’m allready bored of the still-the-same meta again.

You don’t understand the point. Zero. Nothing. So take off your thief tag.
A perma stealth thief will use this to grief. Guild Wars 1 had a warrior build that couldn’t kill anything but couldn’t be killed at all.
If Deathmatch comes, I will use perma stealth to prolong the battle and cause other players to ragequit. Why? Because trolling is fun.

All signs point to NOPE.
This patch will probably not include any new PvP modes, nor will it include any balance, at least from what I have heard so far.
Maybe I am wrong, but I wouldn’t hold my breath…

I hope they will not add any new modes. Conquest is the best and should stay. The way they have secondary objectives on each map is good enough.
Its very likely that these are features that will be added in the “really big feature patch” that is coming after march 4th as mentioned in the eurogamer interview*. Its my personal guess though but it would make sense.
I see this patch as somewhat of a competetive thing. Both teso and wildstar will release in Q2 of this year aswell. With a really good patch filled with a lot of new pvp and pve features Anet will try to keep the GW2 population where they are.

So Anet just needs to include a report button along with a match timer to ensure people like you are banned. It has the added bonus of banishing trolls from the community – I can’t see how this wouldn’t be win-win.
pre-ordered HOT at this point,
save yourself the money and don’t bother.

There isn’t really anything wrong with conquest at all. It’s just that it’s pretty much the 1 only mode for all the maps, with 1 exception maybe being Spirit Watch…
IF new modes weren’t added, then Anet would definitely have to add new/more objectives and rewards to each map…but i think at this point, I’m almost 100% positive that Anet has already decided that they’re going to add new modes and maps in the future. Maybe not on the 21st, but later on
