I’m really tired of playing games that have really bad comps while solo queuing. Would it be possible for Anet to make an algorithm to balance comps so it isn’t full tanks (turrets the biggest offender) or full burst comps?

I would prefer waiting 2 or 3 extra minutes not to have teams that are either of those things. Of course you can’t write algorithms to account for specific builds, but I feel like something could be done code wise to reduce chances of 4+ turret engies or teams that have 4 dps classes, it ain’t fun to play my engie in games where the team cannot keep nodes.

This is a team game, and currently I’ve been stuck in or against teams that offer no sorta team play based on comps. Even in solo queue some of the not-so-hot players playing a class with support do a decent job helping out. That’s how I feel the queuing experience should be. Not just a bunch of turret engies mindlessly camping, or a bunch of players playing burst builds. Not to say burst builds shouldn’t be ran. But just being forced to team with 4 people running burst builds is quite frustrating.

Maybe if the system check for player builds and do matchmaking like 1 tanky build 2 melee dps and 2 ranged dps allowed. thats a lot more balanced as you have everything. you have tank, you have melee dps and ranged dps

Don’t think it would be possible to do or necessary to somehow add a build checker. I know they had said there would be class factored into matchmaking in December. What I think Anet could do is count Ele, Guard, Warrior, Engie as team support, and then pool the other 3 from both team support and dps together to pick.

Either that or limit it to only two of the same classes per team somehow.

The downside to all of this is people with high MMR might wait longer and that would be bad.

i have to wait 6-8 mins already its a pain, can get bored before match starts. i have to spam map chat to make some people join ranked.

That annoys some people but i don’t care as i want to have fun and don’t waste time

I don’t think ANET will ever do it, but if they did, should sort by amulets equipped given how versatile gw2 classes naturally are.

You’re an outlier.

Anet should just do one general reset of MMR every six months or so.

I don’t think ANET will ever do it, but if they did, should sort by amulets equipped given how versatile gw2 classes naturally are.

It doesn’t have to be that sophisticated. Just some kind of general outline based on what current classes are mostly known for. Most classes are not as versatile as people make them out to be at least not where spvp is concerned.

It’s as simple as the AI trying to limit the number of thieves and mesmers on the same team. Any other combo I’m fine with.

I don’t think it should be so much about zerker or cele. Mediguards usually provide a little support. But if you were to say 4 zerkers that were combos of rangers, thieves, mesmers, and necros, i’d say yeah, I’d prefer any team balancing system to err on the side of team support over selfish type builds.

yes. most teams will run 2/3 point holders and the rest dps. no zerker amulet builds can hold points (be serious), so you can’t have more than 3 zerk for a good team comp.

sure, some teams run 4 zerk, but they are on headsets. being in a pug match where only one player can be on point is awful, you need a minimum of 2.

yes when 2 player can sit on a point is easier. but a team with only 1 bunker like class and 4 zerker can be kitten fun and total ownage if the zerkers are skilled

yeah, but with matchmaking as it is people are more often then not bad. also coordinating rotations for 4 zerkers is very hard without TS.

They COULD do that, however, the PvP Community is too small to make this work. They already have problems balancing out match-ups between thousands of players, let alone try balancing around 8 classes on top of that..
