Any ideas for a New Type of Pvp?

To be honest I would love any or all of the following:
- Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch
- Capture the Dredge (or other CTF options)
- Guard the Dolyak (or other escort derivatives)
- A capture game where you need to have one point to get the other or where a choke point requires the team to face each other.
- A siege the base game type with Golems as siege units
- More neutral game types like “keg-brawl”
Pretty much anything to add flavor to the pvp scene outside of TPvP. I realize not many of these would work in “professional tourney” environments but there is something to be said about fun game types too
Here are some ideas that I think would work.
Team Deathmatch
- Self explanatory, this could easily work and it would be a nice change of pace from conquest over and over.
Free for all Deathmatch
- This could be all sorts of fun if you ask me, especially in a massive 16 player free for all match. Granted, it could get severely annoying if multiple people from a guild join and ‘team up’ so to speak.. and because of that, this mode may not work at all.
Capture the flag (my personal favorite)
- This could actually have a couple variations. The standard 2-flag CTF where you have to capture your enemies flag and can only score if your flag is safe in your base. Another CTF mode that could work well with this game would be a single neutral flag in the center of the map that needs to be captured.
In order for CTF to work well they’d have to make sure that any teleports / portals, etc would force that flag carrier to drop the flag (at least in my opinion).
King of the hill
- This would work similar to what we have now with conquest mode, except the difference would be that only 1 of the 3 points would be active at a time and that it would rotate at certain intervals.
That’s all I can think of off the top of my head, and yes I’m aware they are pretty general PvP gametypes but I still feel they could all potentially work rather well. After all, wouldn’t more gametypes make PvP infinitely more interesting then playing the same one over and over?

Lol! Keg Brawl for pvp sound terrific. It would definitely be the game I go to to take a break from all these pvp, and pve, and wvw thing. You know? My Relaxing time in GW2.
Free for all Deathmatch!! W00t! Hhahaha! MY thief be stabbing you all in the back, and runnign away in the shadows. hehehe That sounds great!
And honestly? I don’t mind being imprisoned by the enemy team once awhile…. hehehe. I be in there typing, “SAVE ME!!!” just to see my teammates coming to the jail cell and breaking down the gate for me. w00t

Oh… and i still like my idea of having a similar style of what LoL have but with GW2 graphics and camera. =b Spectators can watch BIRD VIEW of where we are hehe.

Keg Brawl is PvP! You get PvP Points and stuff …
I’m all in for 2v2 / 3v3 Deathmatch Arena!
Most things had been said, as CTF, Team Deathmatch, KotH, …
Something like Murderball (Rift) would also be nice, …
And for GvG Fights… something like a “small” WvW would be nice,… something like every Team has a Tower (like in WvW with walls and stuff), first who takes over the enemy Tower wins …
Something like this…
An escort mission sounds cool. The two teams could trade off rounds seeing how far the dolyak reaches.
I think guild pvp will introduce a cool mode once halls are implemented. If this is still planned..

Sources?
The most obvious first of course, namely CTF, tug-of-war and team deathmatch.
Relic runs were fun.
How about a gladiator styled arena that looks like the Colloseum in Rome and offers 1vs1, 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4 and 5vs5 deathmatch battles with a system like the tournaments we have now?
Stomping your foe with a roaring crowd and making a reputation as the world best 1vs1 fighter! (of course you’d have to roll mesmer first )

I have to sya, that’s an awesome idea…. imagine! only 5 people can go in there. And those 5 have to go through 20 phases of battles of swarms. Just like you say, Gladiator. Maybe we can ride on the Cariiages and run around the stadium too! hehehe

Listen up! These are the rules of Quagganball! Two teams – Frost Wurms and Fire Golems; chosen by random draw! One ball, slippery as a wet Quaggan! Grab the ball, throw the ball, get the ball over the opposing team’s line, and your team gets a point! Weapons, namecalling, and cheating are all encouraged! But – Do not KICK the ball! Quaggan don’t have much in the way of feet!

lol. Oh man that brings back memories! (+1 for creativity)
I’ve stated why i think an arena mode is the most crucial aspect pvp is missing in another thread

I think it would go a long way to help sort out balance issues and a combat system where you just can’t win if you’re outnumbered.
I also wanted to add that CTF would be awesome, but many players raise the point that some classes have much higher mobility than others. That matter could easily be nullified by simply deactivating the skill and utility bars while you carry the flag. Likewise, it would place much more emphasis on team play and protecting the flag carrier.
Regardless, I think many people just want a straight-forward battle. Modes with additional objectives such as nodes, ordnance weapons, assassination targets, flags, balls, and everything else seem like the next step for highly organized teams, and pugs are naturally gonna get dominated. And if it’s pug vs. pug in these highly objectified modes, you’ll hear 16 different opinions on why someone wasn’t doing what they were supposed to.
