I’ve been watching a lot of old videos of GW1 pvp. When GW2 was announced, I assumed that GW2 pvp would be an updated version of GW1 pvp, but was disappointed when it was something totally different (as well as incomplete). I watched every video I could on youtube to see how pvp was going to be prior to release (GvG, Arenas, etc), and really wanted to play those game modes.
It’s been six months now since release and much hasn’t changed, so did anyone go back to playing GW1? I was thinking of picking up the game but wasn’t sure how active the game is.
That seems to be the sentiment of a lot of players. I never got to play GW1. Was a WoW player since vanilla through Wrath, but I developed a hatred of the gear grinding pvp system as well as the imbalance that came with it. That brought me to GW2, but I realize since GW2 pvp doesn’t generate a lot of money for Anet, I don’t expect to see any big changes to the game anytime soon unless they implement a pay to play system on the pvp side to generate more development money.
Guildwars 1 is possibly ddos city right now, making it unenjoyable for everyone and people like me eventually quitting and not going back because of it after they have the lagg for so long. You gotta be pretty pathetic and very desperate to use such a thing. First they make you lagg to unplayable levels then they say things like look at this mage who only uses his staff auto wanding us etc etc. Rupters having their skills sometimes activate 5 seconds later is also not very… ideal…

I was just thinking about going smiter in ra last night, people complain but the few I made to be solo backliner is pretty much some of the funnest bars in the game.
They think your ally is going to die, then he bounces back and blows up at the same time. It’s rare to get people that actually play aggressive with it though since the blowup from judges is aoe not anywhere in the area.
Like I’ve had my whole team at less than 150 hp for like 2 minutes at least barely holding them by a thread playing on their deaths, quite a few times. It’s pretty epic when you get done doing that and win. It’s almost like having to always preprot but using smite and if you mess up and preprot the wrong person when the entire team is at one more hit to die each, someone dies. It’s very unforgiving.

The activity isn’t the greatest ever, but you’re still able to get (gvg) matches during evening euro hours.
RA normally has enough players to get a decent run going, unless you’re unlucky and never get a solid setup to fight the syncs.
You can also bring another buddy/buddies and sync with them. It’s virtually free tournaments with less waiting time and faster matches.

For those who want to play FA and AB I’m setting up a group of people to play every Thursday at 8pm GMT.
Which will happen from this Thursday onwards, we’ll try AB first and if we simply don’t have enough we’re going to FA.

Your character wouldnt happen to be Silven Shadow would it (ranger)?
If the AB idea doesnt work at least we can always play during double weekends haha.
Otherwise GW2 has taught me that having Frenzy+Mending+Bstance is good on a warrior so im gonna go try that in GW1.
