The topic I created last week was deleted, but I still have to find what was deemed rude, condescending or inflammatory about it.

It basically said:

given the slow development of PvP and that 8 months after launch we still lack basic competitive features, could we at least get some apologies or some explanations about the current state of the PvP scene?

I know an official statement would take a lot of courage to issue but I think the community would be grateful to be considered with enough respect to be told the truth.

Anyway, here’s the original post and please Mister Moderator, take some time to read it rather than jumping the infraction gun:p

Will you ever man up to apologize to us?

Or at least explain why the pvp development is so slow?

I mean I understand things can’t always go the way you want when you’re dealing with mammoths like mmos. There are so many hindrances that can meet your ideas be it staff, time, financial resources or the sheer complexity of the programming side.

Still, I think it would be nice and quite smart if arena net took some time to issue an official statement explaining why core features are still missing 7 months after launch with as a direct result a complete absence of a competitive environment.

It can happen after you actually release all the cool features you’ve been teasing us about for months/years or even after the game starts getting some competitive recognition (which I hope it does:p). It just needs to happen at one point in my opinion.

I know you don’t owe us anything as per say, but for the sake of respect and maybe decency I think some explanations would show that you actually care about your community.

Now, it requires balls to apologise I understand that. Pride, deny, shame, it’s all there to prevent it. But heck, even apple did it with their maps! And if there’s one company that you’d expect to never apologise it’s them! And yet they’ve done it:p

So yeah, to put it bluntly, man up, grow some balls and have the courtesy, the diplomacy and the intelligence to explain to your community what went wrong in the development:p

The sad thing is that I always thought ArenaNet was NOT like other developers and would respect their player base by at least letting them know the state of things. Such as, “in terms of how we distribute our resources, currently sPvP is one of our lowest priorities”. Seriously, I think people would enjoy GW2 Pvp more as it is that way, rather than waiting, hoping, and getting angry, as they tend to do now.

Even if they implemented all the features and gw2 grew up to be the most popular e-sport in the history, with finals in live stadiums and broadcast to millions of viewers I still think they should apologize for the rough start:p

Hmmm…..fair enough!

But lol still, suppose they don’t apologize, what’s gonna happen then? Yet, then again, let’s suppose that they do apologize, what’s gonna change?

If you say anything possibly negative about moderators or ANet they hit you with infractions. Ive been personally targeted by angry moderators before and it sucks. I had a moderator following me around for days infracting every single thing I said that wasnt absolutely positive. If I disagreed with someone in a polite way, I was infracted.

I doubt they will because there isn’t really anything to apologies for and if you really think about it, how would it benefit them? A few people are happy (aka forum warriors aka the representatives of the “community”), but then they look weak to more.

Why do they owe you and explanation or an apology? They don’t owe you anything.

Hate to say this but it is true, when the features are they will be ready, and the reason they don’t say anything about them is because they don’t want to give us broken promises, which I am all for.

If you are impatient then play a different game, I know I have. It’s not like you have sacrificed your loyalty to this game, and waste time playing one game.

Don’t misunderstand me. This isn’t a “make or break” thread. I am not threatening anyone with anything either. No e-lobbying, no heart breaking farewell, just a simple question from someone who enjoys the game:

Why is it taking so long to get core features in?

And if arenanet reckons it has indeed taken a lot longer than expected, do they feel like to apologise for the delay?

Will they have the decency to say “sorry for being late” to all the players who were waiting to play the game competitively? Do they care enough about the community to give us some explanations?

WOW, I feel bad for you. So in your mind, Arenanet is like your “girlfriend” or someone close to you?

For a sec, I thought it was a corporation and not your friend nor your relative, but maybe I was thinking incorrect.

It is taking so long because THEIR priority is apparently not the same as YOUR priority, it’s just that simple. The response to SPvP as been poor, we all know that, unfortunately by leaving it ends up in a situation where why dedicate a lot of money to a section of the game that doesn’t generate any income nor does it have any players, while ignoring the main base that actually supports the game. SPvP with respect to the game is like the Remora to Shark, living off the shark’s awesomeness/power/deadliness.

It is frustrating to see structured pvp stagnate and regress from where it was at during launch. I imagine your previous thread was locked due to this line in the forum’s code of conduct:

Do not engage in staff call-outs. Using the words “ArenaNet” or any staff member’s name will not expedite the answer to your query.

Most likely this thread will be ignored and removed too due to this line:

Do not post about locked, deleted, or otherwise moderated threads or posts. Moderation happens for a reason. A staff member or moderator may lock a thread before posting in order to promptly curtail continued comments. If you have yet to see a comment by a staff member on a locked thread, please wait for the comment to appear and do not post a new thread on the subject. If you have questions regarding forum moderation, send an email to forums@arena.net.

Hope that helps.
