Some of you have asked why we haven’t focused on fixing the issues already in the game. A lot of things have been fixed, but some concerns you guys have like with PW, HS, decap engi, etc. we decided to wait and see how the new traits will affect the meta.

Are you kidding me ?

Example 1:
So tell me how Power Block from mesmers will help them in any way, shape or form to fight against thiefs ? Who, by the way, when interrupted, do not get any cooldown what-so-ever. I think you know that what is mainly pushing any berserker build outside warriors, are PW thiefs ?

Please tell me you have thought of that ?

Every high ladder thief (like every thief with a bit of clue) use withdraw rather than hide in shadows since 6 month lol.

It has no casting time so it isnt interruptable and power block don’t work.

Mesmer has no chance.

Funny thing is that on dev live stream between new map overview and trait presentation the put on a 2vs2 match with shad where at the end there was a thief vs mesmer.

Rotation was:

3 f1 3 infiltrator signet mesmer dead

Nothing will change unless Arenanet developers realise that they are bad players. They are not meant to be testers, this should always be done by better players. Seeing Karl dying to an PVP NPC or realising that Allie Murdock is still r14 after 1 1/2 year (no allie wvw is not pvp its zerging!) and steadily increase of rank points just confirm that these guys should not have the right to judge what is unbalanced and whats not.
Unless they not give the best players (if they are some around) the opportunity to enter the Alpha Server and let them fight until something is real balanced this game will stay dead forever.

I watched yesterdays Ready up and all it leaves is dissapointment. The new game is a simple map without a capture point….but yeah just make it as beautiful as possible because that is what pvp’ers care about…colored bushes. I remember they mentioned that making a pvp map is not that sophisticated…now they made a map were they dont even have to consider capture points. That is not a new game mode, thats just bullkitten.
And since it is bound to hotjoin nothing will change and spare your breath when you want to tell me again that there are “more things to come soon”.

Beloved developers your selfish behaviour and management decisions are the main reason why this game failed to be comptetive.

I still don’t get why they won’t nerf clearly broken things. decap engi = means unplayable solo q. You cant have fun in solo q because of them. Other things, like thief, are so clearly broken and OP. Warrior too.

How can they decide to not address these issues? It makes no sense. It is either laziness or incompetence. I suspect the later but am not sure.

In the future, how long will you wait before releasing new balance changes? I understand the importance of waiting and letting a meta develop, but having large, sweeping changes every few months just makes it a frustrating process for many players who have been waiting a long time for fixes. Will there be smaller, but more frequent tweaks now that the new traits are being implemented?

Pretty much this, they at least admited they dont know what to do regarding nerfs (look at the decap engi post) so yeah you really need to start to change the balance team and integrate more players to give feedback…

I saw nothing in that preview that would have any impact on:

Warrior dominance
Thief dominance
Decap Engie dominance

Except, perhaps, to increase it.

Warrior
Healing sig and pin down nerfs are decent changes to tone down wars.

Thief
I’m surprised we didn’t hear anything on pistol whip, but there’s a lot of defensive options opening up for other classes that will counter thieves to some extent.

Engi
Personally, I think that the strength of decap engis is predominantly the fault of having only conquest maps. I mean, it’s a class that continuously drops AoEs the size of a capture node and has tons of knockbacks. Put an engi in an open field, however, and it’s a much more balanced fight.
It doesn’t look like there’s much to address decap right now except for giving them the option to get quickness when they knock you back, lol.

The problem is that the developers think warriors are fine, but they are not. I don’t want to get into an argument about it here. However, every profession needs to bring a strength and a weakness to a team, and it needs to be designed such that stacking that profession (i.e. 2x, 3x, etc) far increases the weakness to that team than it does the strengths. This is not the case with warriors.

Thieves are the only burst class that works in the meta, and the only one that can reliably (albeit it’s challenging) drop a HS warrior. This leaves Mesmers and elementalists out of the picture entirely.

Decap engies – well, that’s a truly cancerous build. It’s absolutely gutted solo queue. The fact no one has talked about hotfixing that speaks volumes regarding the development team.

Heal sig and pin down will tone down warriors and toning down warriors will allow more classes to go toe-to-toe with them, which addresses the thief issue as you outlined at the same time.

Will it be enough? That depends a lot on how these other changes all work together, but it’s at least in the right direction.

Its just simply clear that these balance devs just don’t know how to do their jobs correctly. I’ll eat these words right up if the current meta actually does change though (hopes are very low).

And to Murdock, I know you are new to the gw2 pvp scene. The response you gave is the “BS” people are talking about. The community has been saying that the “slow shave” and “powercreep” technique has not been effective for about 4+,5+ months now. So your response is currently receiving a nice ole community flaming treatment. lol

I do feel bad for Allie since she is getting the brunt of all of the frustration when it isn’t her fault (I actually really appreciate how often she posts on the forums in spite of all of the negativity).

That being said the balance team has some serious issues. All of the players know it. I would love to see you guys actually trust the players when they say things. True there are some players that will go “Nerf Mesmer! I got killed by one! Too OP!” But in large there are a lot of players that have played more hours and understand the classes better than your balance team possibly could. I mean I have watched the devs play, and with the exception of Grouch and Powerr I don’t have a lot of faith in their abilities. (Although Powerr’s guard build was questionable….). Letting players find the OP builds for you and then reacting to that quickly is going to be one of your best bets to balance this game. No matter how much you test amongst your developers internally, truth is you guys can’t possibly play as much as some of the players do. (Not that I blame you since it is kind of work to you guys, whereas it is fun for us).

I could easily list out the OP builds right now (Hambow/condi/HS warriors, decap engi, pw thief, etc.) but the point is I think you guys have heard us say what they are for months. It’s time to fix them because they make competitive play very unfun if you aren’t running one of these meta builds.

Those were the high level changes, meaning we didn’t get into all the details for each profession (each and every # change), each weapon, each skill, etc. We were just trying to move through a lot of info in the Ready Up, so we didn’t get down into each and every # change for every class. That would be more of a detailed list you’d expect from game release notes for a release, for example.

Ultimately, we knew we wanted to add some more traits, so we wanted to focus on trying to make those good and then we can revisit them if they are still an issue. Does that make sense?

No that doesnt make sense, cause those traits havent changed anything pistol whip and decap engi are still going to be the same so ye youll have to revisit and were just going to be waiting another 6 months till anything actually changes.

Yeah, if we didn’t have to wait half a year for even the most minor fixes I might actually be willing to “see how things evolve”.

But in ANet terms “see how things evovle” = 6 months of absolute radio silence with no changes whatsoever while one build ruins an entire game-mode for 5 1/2 months.

I will also add that most of the changes you announced don’t actually “fix” anything. They’re just random changes.

I get that you wanted to expand the content of the game and make things more interesting… But please don’t do things in that order.

Adding new content + let’s see how things change =D = Only the possibility of new problems If the old builds still sustain their strength unless you create similar builds within other classes (which only creates power creep) there will never be a healthy or balanced game.

Fix the problems. Bugs, imbalances, diversity issues. THEN expand on content and from a balanced state crate and adjust accordingly.
