Are necros prime targets?
Necro is known to kitten kitten up if you let him do his thing uninterrupted. Also, they have very little escapes, so people tend to put them down as soon as they can.

i thought this edit would be funny

It honestly depends. If I try to engage in an opening mid fight right at the start of the game and my team isn’t 100% on top of things, I’ll probably go down unless I play a really really tanky build, since not having life force at the start of the game means that an opening burst can end you, and theres only so much that last gasp and spectral armor can do to mitigate that.
Taking a break from GW2 to play various
Nintendo games..
if you let necro to freely do what he want your and your whole team is doomed.
this is balanced out by how they have almost 0 escapes so its easy to focus down and kill.
-Total War: Warhammer
-Guild Wars 2
well necro can do stupid damage if left unpressured, plus he has no invuns or blocks and his acess to stab and stun breakers is limited. the necro needs to be focused, and will splat pretty easy if you can get them with the Cc chain.
reaper is a tougher nut to crack, but a nice CC chain and some blinds usually send him packing.
necro is one of the easiest classes to kill as you can just spam skills on them without paying much attention and it usually works.
currently a Boyfriend main :P

necros have always been prime targets for two reasons. first, they lack disengage and invuln so focusing on them quick would = 5v4 for your team. secondly, there are necro builds than can wipe an entire team in large point fights if left unattended.
Aaaah, so left unattended without pets probably means that I was luck to be facing newbies who didnt realise that I was actually playing a necro. I ran stabby stabby style after them while placing wells to help out. Anyway had a very successful run today with my stabby stabby necro … was rather fun, no more pets for me.

Minion builds are dead imo for pvp anyway :P
Necro’s are the first target as long as death shroud is a thing.
@OP
What amulet were you using? I’d recommend Soldier to start out on necro. It helps survive being focused. And remember, no matter how you build, necro has trouble with chain CC.
As as necro main, here is how I break it down.
In teamfights (3vs3 or more):
Generally focusing necros in teamfights is a good idea because most of the builds bring a lot of aoe damage and debuffs which will blow through your teams cds. They also don’t have a way to escape, and have limited dodges/invulns/blocks to prevent cc chians.
If however it is a tanky necro build, ignore them completely as they will not be doing enough damage to be a viable threat, and generally don’t have the support another class might bring (they won’t be doing a lot to keep their allies from getting downed). That’s not to say they are a bad target because they will still go down to cc chains relatively fast, but if someone on the other team is doing damage and there is a tank necro, take out the dps first. Note cele builds are not tank builds.
In 1vs1. If the necro is on a point they own, and you have a chance to +1 somewhere else or 1vs1 on another node, do that. Their big HP will draw out the fight, while they are getting points. On the other hand, if a necro tries to 1vs1 you on your point, you should be able to dodge their big hits to last a very long time or win the fight. This is very good for you. Note most necro builds are pretty good 1vs1 (somewhat less so with reaper).
2vs2 is a mixed bag and very dependent on the matchup as a whole. That will come more from experience.
extra dodges, real stability, mobility skills,
burst skills, sustain, or good support. GG ANET.
I main a necro as well and run 3 builds atm – cele signet, marauder reaper and the newest one I crafted yesterday, carrion chill – is by far my favorite despite how new it is. The synergy with the amulet, chill buffs and traits are amazing. Been getting great results in soloQ. It still lacks a reliable disengage but you are sure to leave a painful impression on your opponents
Don’t have much experience running MM. I know they are tanky and I still see them around but I’m personally flawed being too much of a control freak to run that build.
It’s always been like this, they’re defenses do not scale up in team fights and they basically dont have the tools to defend themselves in team fights. People saying it’s balanced because they can kitten kitten up lol, every other class can do more damage if left alone. If we’re talking pure damage numbers head over to the dungeon forums and ask them how necro ranks in dps compared to the other classes.
This all changed with reaper but people’s rear end began to ache too much about not being able to continue what can be considered almost a meta of ‘focus the necromancer’ so blighters boon got nerfed and we’re back to square one with reaper melting in team fights against competent players. Note this was also a knee-jerk reaction because a revenant was showing to be capable of too much aoe boon spam in one of the tournaments.
