Well hopefully they will get rid of them when they see the numbers showing nobody would ever do them by choice.

Haven’t had any problems with queues (EU), but it would be nice if we could get some map rotations on the 8-team tournaments aswell.

Spirit watch is new and exciting and is one of the like 3 maps that have a worthwhile secondary objective, until they either change up the 3 tourney rotation, or one of the boring maps (foefire, Nifihel, I’m looking at you!!) becomes the 1 round tourney, or they make their secondary more awesome I won’t really be playing 3 match ones…

Forest: Svanir Chieftan Gimmick
Foefire: Lord Gimmick
Kyhlo: Trebuchet Gimmick
Raid: Underwater Combat Gimmick
Spirit Watch: Orb Gimmick

If we look back to when 1v1 Tournaments were first implemented, Temple was the map used as the guinea pig. You let the enemy team get the buffs, you will lose. You can ignore all the other gimmicks on the other maps and still win, not so with Temple. This is what sets it apart.

I dont know, having one team get the orb everytime while holding one point might prove badly. I mean with movement skills light ride the lightning (and if necros can do their teleport with it), someone can easily do a chain pass off to cap it within seconds. Ride light to necro, necro teleports, rinse and repeat.

Temple is the only map that matters competitively ROFL. Now GW2 PvP attracted people who thinks they know whats best for “competitive play” but they don’t.

When you can commune buffs with Mist Form + Time Warp or Shadow Step or Portal, that map is FAIL for competitive play. Pretty safe to say whoever thinks Temple or Spirit is the map for competitive play fails just as hard. No offense.

P.S This game was more alive and worthy when the first two maps of the “competitive play” was Niflhel and Foefire. Just putting it out there.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

THIS -I think they will end up replacing 8 team with just a solo/duo queue ranked ladder, it makes the most sense and it’s what the community wants.

Would like to add that obviously the “competitive play” got a little popular after the 1v1 with temple, but was it temple that made it competitive play popular? No. It was the fact that paid ques were popping out every time instead of every night when that 1v1 with temple came out.

When I meant PvP and competitive play was still worth it before 1v1 paids, a handful of teams were still around. Let alone the fact that HOTM was actually populated. Nowadays how many teams do you see forming? None. None of the old teams stayed because this game is still a joke.

No class balancing, too much abuse-able broken BS such as mist form/portal/time warp commune with orb RTL on spirit watch, and most of all ANET being a bunch of preachers on how competitive play should be played is pathetic.

Since people are negative about nerfs, how about we buff to balance then?

Playing one round doesn’t feel as meaningful as a three round tournament. But the tournaments make the queue times too long. If we ever have a player base big enough to support three rounds, I would before that. Or, instead of three rounds we have to be only two rounds.

I appreciate the lower queue times but I miss the feeling of being in a mini tournament. Playing only one round and having it end despite I one feels less meaningful than advancing on to the next round. Maybe if MMR rank was visible winning single rounds would feel more meaningful.

I think they patched the channel being able to be done whilst in most form/portal etc.

I could be imagining it, but sure I read it somewhere in the latest patch notes.

8-man is absolutely dead right now. We sat in the que for over an hour till we said forget it.
Spirit is kitten . The Orb is way too important and easy to get it and cap. So much for nerfing tanks huh anet? And where was the AOE damage nerfs? and where were the warrior buffs? And where was the BIG Feb PvP patch? oh right there was none.

Throw Spirit watch away. To many terrain bugs/issue but great way to show case how OP your Tanking specs are. Only map I absolutly hate. I would rather Khylo and that map has horrible jumping puzzles…are jumping puzzles how this game is going to become competitive?

1: New map is in 2 team tourney, new maps are allways popular.
2: If u lose first round in 8-team u get nothing, win and u have bronze, if u lose in 2-team u get nothing, if u win u already have gold.
3. Queu times.
4. Weapons/Armor from 2-team look better? (paid tokens)

Ques are fine in EU, around 5 or less min for 8 team and pretty much instant with 2 teams tournies. EU also seem to have a lot of new players, so matchup quality has gone down quite a bit, but I guess rankings will fix that in time.

Spirit watch is a joke atm, bunker one point, run orb and gg win. Orb mechanics definitely needs some tweaking. Atleast 8 team tournas are tolerable atm. Match quality is very varied though, getting some decent opponents at khylo, but forest/foefire have very “colorful” opponents. Whole team of rank <10s, awful rank ~40 hotjoin farmers with anger issues and mind blowing pug compositions like 4 thieves/1 necro.

What’s the difference between high MMR free tournies and paid tournies? Accessibility. This patch is nothing but an improvement for competition.

You see more people playing as during the temple week? Not really.
You see better/more teams/guilds playing now? Not really.

What can be seen is a bunch of random people that solo Q. And when all the new players have their equipment they will leave definetily because access doesn’t guarantee a stabile player base.

there is just no reason to play 8 team tournament or i just dont see it…

they could take away 8 team tournament and replace it with unranked 2 team match (use rating tomatch teams, but dont change it after match) with not a big difference…

2 team is just a healther competition, 8 has to wait for 8 teams (if mmr has any bearing, it has to wait for 8 near perfectly matched teams before it can start).

Where 2 team just needs to grab two and throw them together. This is more efficient. Also when you have to play 3 matches, the likely hood of someone disconnecting or leaving to ruin your game is hightend.

There are endless reasons 2 team will be more popular and more successful.

Also, why has no one in this thread mentioned Capricorn when talking about best or worst maps? Its like you all forgot it even exists…imo its the only map that needs removed from the game.

Oh, and I think the map in 2’s should rotate more than once every week….that might just be me though.

Spirit watch is a joke in its current state, that’s why I actually prefer 8 team atm.

But I must agree, overall I prefer the 2 team structure to the 8 team one. It’s just that Spirit Watch seems like in a beta state regarding orb and it’s overall influence on the match. There is less emphasis on fighting and more on bunkering homepoint, ignoring the other 2 points and just focusing on RtL eles/staff guards running the orb, taking hits/fleeing without a worry in the world.
