Hi Arenanet.
When you announced the PvP during the 2011 gamescom, august 17, you announced this: http://images.mmorpg.com/features/5509/images/gw2pvp3_t.jpg
During the First beta Weekend we gotten an horrible UI with server lists. I tought it was only for beta testing, but now we still got that, and no customized pvp yet (making rooms with customized rules and with or without password, etc)
Are we gonna get the real PvP soon? and are you going to make special 1v1 maps?
Thanks for the answers
They are going to release the proper PvP soon, i read it somewhere and cant remember the ETA. But it’s coming.
Where you can create own rooms or “rent” servers, can’t remember how it was going to work.
But there will be alot of improvements i’m sure of it, just be patient.
A nicer looking UI would be nice… but it’s less than a month after launch, let’s let them do their thing for a bit…
I was quite disappointed when I found out what we have now wasn’t a beta thing.
Anet’s claim that they were modeling hot-join PvP after the FPS server formats was one of the greatest things I’d ever heard (about a MMO). Hopefully it’s still on the table for them. And not just in the way of renting servers. I mean seeing servers set up with specific map rotations, team sizes, and rule variations, with a UI to display all that and ping, too. That would make a massive improvement.

I will never understand how it came to be that “it’s only just launched” became an acceptable reason for not having features. If it’s launched, then it should be ready. That doesn’t mean tweaks can’t be made, balancing, new features added, etc… but it should be a finished product.
It’s like buying Super Mario Brothers and finding out there was no Luigi, but “the game just came out so it’s ok.”

No its not. This is how the MMO genre is, sucks? yes. Will change in the future? Maybe. It’s hard to be disappointed when you know ‘’the name of the game’’ if you catch my drift. I think this game has been launched with no or few game breaking mistakes – and generally much better than their competitors.

You can return your game and pretend it never came out and wait another year or two if you like?
Face it, software is never “finished” – developers always have to give up some originally intended features and content because if they dont, they would simply never release.
You might think some other games are “finished”, but that’s usually the result of the developer not disclosing their full plans for their game. You never hear about all the stuff that didn’t make it in.
